Not exactly canon Dio, but if we were to have another match up for him I’d go with Heaven Ascended Dio from Eyes of Heaven vs Infinity Stones Ultron from Marvel’s What If. Both are alternate versions of canon villains, both win their battles in their reality vs their main stream counterparts, both obtain higher dimensional power than anything seen in the canon stories, and both are taken down/defeated by different versions of their past enemies (every JoJo and the Guardians of the Multiverse).

I gotta say, I really like Alucard vs Soma Cruz from Castlevania. They have the very specific connection of "I used to be Dracula" and all of Soma's abilities would make for amazing animation potential. Plus, you could lean into the Gothic horror aesthetic with Castlevania way more than you could with Hellboy, and it doesn't completely screw Nero out of his only good matchup

Some of my own choices for new opponents for some of these characters: DIO vs. Gilgamesh from Fate (note that I'm specifically referring to Archer Gilgamesh, for Caster Gilgamesh I prefer Dr. Doom): Blond haired egomaniacs who originally lived in the past before being brought into the modern era, meet a priest who they befriend and eventually turn to evil, and have goals based around taking over the world. Both also have opposing fighting styles, with DIO being a mostly close-ranged fighter and Gilgamesh being a mostly long-ranged fighter. Alucard vs. D from Vampire Hunter D: Vampire hunters who are themselves vampires, but are much stronger than the average vampire of their respective universes, including the ability to go out in sunlight, to the point that them taking actual damage is very rare. One wields guns and the other is a sword fighter, which could make for an interesting contrast. Also, they both wear hats and that's pretty dang cool. Madara vs. Master Xehanort from Kingdom Hearts (Palpatine is a better opponent for Xehanort, but still): Manipulative main villains who have well-intentioned if extremely misguided goals, which involves them gaining godlike powers, and in the end turn out to actually be just a pawn for another, even bigger villain. Aizen vs. Shinobu Sensui from YuYu Hakusho: Villains who were once a part of a supernatural organization until they turned against the organization, lead a group of powerful people who each represent an aspect of something (the Espada representing aspects of death and the Sensui Seven representing the seven deadly sins), and whose sheer power is only matched by their intelligence and manipulation skills.

What about Dio vs Terranort?

Here are some nice matchups I thought of: -Goku Black vs Nemesis Prime. Two black/purple colored time-travelling fan-servicy versions of Goku and Optimus Prime that are travelling back in time to stop what they believe is a great evil, thinking of themselves as saviors. They received their new bodies from divine entities (Super Shenron and Unicron), they have purple-colored energy projectiles and special techniques and the ability to time-travel, they had an ally with a similar backstory (Zamasu and Galvatron), they offered alliance to some of the people they met (Goku and Megatron), but ultimately they fought them, they forced those who opposed them to work together against them, but ultimately they were stopped by the combination of a young hero using a powerful item/ability (Trunks powered up his sword with a Spirit Bomb and Bumblebee used the All-Spark to unleash the spirits of those who died on Cybertron) and a divine entity (Zeno and Unicron) who erased them and their allies from existence (there is also the fact that both were stopped in kinda anticlimactic fashion, but let's not take that connection into consideration). They even have pointy things on their heads (spiky hair and antennas). These two are born to fight each other. Someone could say that the matchup is a colossal stomp (and technically they are right), but: 1) I don't care, 2) I feel that this matchup just needs some time. There is a good chance that Nemesis Prime will return in Transformers: Legacy and that we'll have Unicron Trilogy characters in Transformers: Legacy. Unicron Trilogy Optimus and Megatron/Galvatron are easily multiversal. If Nemesis Prime throws hands with them and/or proves himself comparable to their power, the matchup will be much closer. -Reverse Flash vs Lord Drakkon: Yes, Ohma Zi-O is my preffered Lord Drakkon matchup, but this one is also a good matchup. Two good people who after a bad encounter with their world's heroes (Barry Allen and the Power Rangers) and after committing a few bad deeds of their own, turned to ruthless villains and slaughtered a shitton of people who stood in the way of their desires. They both come from alternate timelines from the primary comic book universe of DC and Power Rangers respectively (Reverse Flash is from the future and Drakkon is from another universe), but they travelled to the primary timeline after growing an obsession with their main rivals (Barry Allen and Tommy Oliver) after finding out they weren't like them and their costumes are alternate versions of the costumes of their rivals. They also took under their possession some of the main hero's power (a Speed Force sample and the White Ranger upgrade), they surpassed everyone else who had powers from the same power source as them (the Speed Force and the Morphin Grid) and even received upgrades to it (the Negative Speed Force and the White Ranger upgrade) (plus, Drakkon received another upgrade, which he used in his iconic "multiverse-erasing feat" and which has a similar name to Marvel's "Heart of the Universe", but I don't remember its name, I would appreciate it if someone in the comment section told it to me). They both were capable of manipulating universal and beyond levels of destruction, they are overpowered as shit and they were only stopped once the heroes messed with their powers. The fight is even an interesting debate with no obvious winner.

Hellboy vs Alucard I would say is my favorite of the ones here something that delves more into the horror aspect of Alucard sounds really cool. Of course it’s not the best Hellboy idea but it does sound really cool.

Despite name and apparence, he isn't Goku, he just stole his look like Reverse Flash with Barry and Cyborg Superman with Superman. Impostor characters work better for matchups.

I did not know how cool Hellboy vs Alucard could have been until I heard you talk about it

One matchup I have come up with for Lucy is Lucy vs Kuroneko from Brynhildr in the Darkness, written by the same person who made Elfen Lied and the series are pretty similar. Lucy and Kuroneko are pretty similar as well, being lost childhood friends who were separated from the main protagonist after a traumatic event, only to miraculously meet up again after escaping the lab they were being held in but having no memory of them. Both are being hounded by the lab that was experimenting on them and they are a part of a group of people with special powers this lab seeks out to capture and kill and both are the strongest of their specific species, they also can't use their abilities to their strongest for very long without hurting themselves. So pretty similar but also interesting differences as well as Lucy kills humans and has no qualms about doing it while Kuroneko tries to protect people. Lucy killed people that the main protag loved before disappearing while Kuroneko tried to save the male protag before disappearing as well so one is clearly a good guy while the other is a bad guy. Haven't finished Brynhildr yet so not sure if there are more similarities or interesting contrasts but I like the idea of this. Only issue I have is how Kuroneko would survive the first attack because she wouldn't know about the vectors and she has no healing factor so if she's sliced in half, that's it. If she manages to learn about them and survive, I can see her doing fairly well with her myriad of abilities but that initial encounter seems like it should end quickly. Its the only Lucy matchup I can think of, I have seen her vs Wolverine which sounds interesting as well, especially since her Vectors can phase through adamantium so she'd ignore his defense but I don't know what the connections are besides mutants who were experimented on, she seems to have way more similarities with Kuroneko...probably unintentionally because they have the same writer.

One of my favorite MUs for Saitama is essentially a massive shitpost that was somehow accidentally thematic. Marisa Kirisame [Touhou Project] vs Saitama -both focus on fighting styles that emphasize overwhelming raw power -however, both their fighting styles are fairly tame compared to the wild bullshit everyone else in their world uses -both have self-given titles that massively undersell their power ("ordinary magician" and "just a guy who's a hero for fun") -are both the least haxxed characters in their verse, but still make it by quite well for themselves regardless -both trained relentlessly for years to gain their powers, and still continue to train daily in secrecy -normal humans in a world of monsters that pull through of their own abilities and hard work Sure, its a massive stomp for Marisa, but the idea of Saitama getting the fight he's always wanted out of a funny witch girl is hilarious to me. There's probably a lot you could do with Saitama's pure brickness against Marisa's danmaku spam. If Marisa ever got on the show though it'd be them feeding Lina Inverse to her, though.

here's a matchup for Madara that i think is pretty interesting: Madara vs Xemnas(Kingdom Hearts):The masterminds behind an antagonistic group whose primary goal is to harvest myriads of monsters (the Akatsuki seek to collect the Tailed Beasts, the Organization (in KHII) to collect hearts) to assemble forth the most powerful force in their 'verses at the time (the Juubi/Kingdom Hearts) to become the vessels for its power. They manipulated several key events of the series into motion, while also being among the most feared warriors in their franchises, with a penchant for close-quarters combat compared to their counterparts (Xemnas favours martial combat with his Ethereal Blades vs. Ansem's use of dark magic, and Madara straight up enjoys hand-to-hand whereas Obito/Tobi/"Madara" tends to favour using his jutsu (and Kamui) to juggle opponents at more of a range). They eventually do absorb the power they sought to attain, giving them predominantly white-coloured final forms and, in their final moments (in Shippuden and KHIII), they're given back a spark of their humanity as they die; making peace with their long time enemy (Sora and Hashirama Senju).

Ironically, I did think of another match up from Sonic that I think(?) could work for Reverse Flash, being Fleetway Sonic, but I don't know enough about them, mainly FS, to know if it fits.

Deo vs spring trap is a match I didn’t know I needed

I know you were probably joking about Dio vs Springtrap having lots of animation potential, but given Springtrap's different forms, phantoms and Glitchtrap, it kinda does as a game of cat and mouse on his end.

The Phantoms are just Michael's hallucinations due to the Fazbear's Fright office having shit ventilation, and Glitchtrap is almost definitely non-Standard. Also, in order for William to use it, he'd have to make DIO stop fighting him to put on some VR Headset or play a video game, which wouldn't make a lot of sense tbh

@@deadakus We’ve never seen him use one in the show. But theoretically he would have access to it, since he should have access to all of Ben’s aliens. The only reason he can’t “use” Alien X is because it’s demonstrated he would be unable to cooperate with the two other personalities. He could transform into one, just not do anything but stay motionless.

I agree with the Mario match up, but I may give you more clarification on the connections for Mario vs Star Lord Both are humans with ties to the cosmos (Mario being a Star Child, Peter Quill being the son of the former ruler of the Spartax Empire) both had been taken in by a non human being (Yoshi and Yondu) both had taken down threats that could casually destroy planets (Bowser and The Fallen One) both are siblings who at some point tried to kill them (Luigi, often when he is under someone else’s control, and Victoria Hand who was trying to claim a bounty on Peter’s head) both battled insane tyrants who could fuck with reality and did so for selfish reasons (Dimentio and Thanos) albeit with power boosts (Mario from the Pure Hearts, and Peter from the Mandalay Gem)

I don’t know who would be a good returning matchup for Dio if he returned……maybe Morlun from Spider-Man? I dunno. Actually now that I think about it who would be a good opponent for Morlun in a death battle?

@@Liex59 If it's strictly a ground war, I would believe the covenant losing because of the sheer amount of shenanigans the Locust do with sinking cities and general guerilla warfare. I'm not entirely aware of the Covenant being able to deal with unconventional tactics Flood vs Lambent would depend on if the Imulsion would prevent the Flood from infecting them I think. Definitely a closer match though... I would just love to see a Lambent Berserker on the battlefield against a massive Flood.

@@dylancross1039 the lambent have the size advantage with things like Corpsers and Brumaks dwarfing Flood Tanks. The flood do have the tactical advantage of being a hivemind while the lambent seem to be more feral

As someone who has read Grappler Baki, yes it is Jack Hanma who roids out on super drugs to beat up one guy.

I think alucard vs Muzan would be a good matchup since they are both the king/progenitor of human eating monsters with insane healing factors that are weak to sunlight and red colored final forms

What do you have against Alex Mercer vs Carnage??? I've wanted that for so long

I HEAVILY disagree with the sentiment that Carnage is a nothing character with no personality. But that said I do think he does get one note really quickly which is why I never liked Carnage more than Venom. Carnage is to Venom like what Sabertooth is to Wolverine in the fact that (barring some exceptions here and there) he really exists to be a foil to him and is at his best when doing so (albeit Carnage is better than sabertooth in that regard cuz Sabertooth…is just so fucking lame) and as a result in most other instances he honestly is pretty flat as a character. (Granted, more recent events kind of help with that issue a little like in Donny Cates run for Venom and Extreme Carnage where his ambitions get bigger and the symbiote is finally doing some learning and growing (albeit with the same endgame but still))

Getting deep into Bionicle lore, the Makuta are actually really powerful, mostly just because of the ridiculous array of different abilities they have... There are 42 possible Rahkshi powers and Makuta have all of them, including, but not limited to: - near-instant regeneration - shattering anything they touch - perfect accuracy - laser eyes - teleportation - stasis fields - illusions - control of the weather, gravity and magnetism The list goes on. Also, Teridax in particular took over Mata Nui's body, which is the size of a planet... A Bionicle character in a Death Battle would be fantastic to see

Heya! I don't know if you take suggestions, but just in case: Would you be interested in matchups for League of Legends characters? (note: i'm not a LoL player, but i find the stories super-interesting regardless)

I think Teridax was matched up with Aizen because both had a habit of seemingly dying but actually being fine afterwards, and both pulled an audacious amount of "Actually everything that happened was according to my plan." I think the main issue there is that we don't actually see a whole lot of measurable feats for him. He has fights, but they're often very short, off-screen, or have weird factors mitigating their applicability. For example, his fight with Takanuva in 2003 is actually a game of Extreme Lacross because Terry was fucking with him, and his fight with Vakama has him underperform and fight poorly because he was trying to suppress the minds of the three beings he just devoured. He's clearly very powerful, but getting an exact measure of what he can do is pretty difficult.

And then his official described powers are often quite vague and rarely-used. You could perhaps scale some of them off other Makuta, but even then it'd be hard to give a good measure to some of them

@@andco53 Yeah, you can get a measure of his durability from Icarax tanking Gali's Nova Blast, for example. Most of the Kraata powers can also be extrapolated from the Rahkshi: They're directly stated to be on even footing with Stage 6 Kraata, but with even greater control than the Shadow Kraata. However, that only really helps with passive stuff like Accuracy, Invisibility, and Dodge, or mental effects like Fear and Anger, or Auras like Confusion and Darkness. We don't know how strong his Fragmentation blasts would be against other characters, or how hot his Heat Vision burns. One of the few exceptions to this is Disintegration, which is specifically noted to be able to turn forged metals to dust at Stage 5. It also restricts dusting Protodermis to Stage 6, implying that it's harder than any forged metal. I think there's just enough we can extrapolate for Teridax to imply that he'd roll Aizen by careful application of certain Kraata powers, but it's pretty vague.

I have one idea for Saitama's opponent: Slayer from Guilty Gear. Both are physical top tiers in their respective verses, who fight rather casually and are generally un-phased by most hits. It would be fun seeing Slayer's cocky and sly attitude clash when he tried to banter with Saitama only to fail because Saitama kinda brushes everything off as dramatics.

Arale Norimaki from Dr. Slump would fit better as Popeye's opponent than Desperate Dan. The fight its really thematic and its actually close if not a freaking stalemate, since Arale its easily one of the strongest Toon Force users in Manga/Anime history.

scp 682 vs doomsday - other worldly being that feel nothing but hate for all human lifeforms - highly adaptave beings who technically cursed to not die due to adapting to what would normally kill them - torture by a bunch of scientists, with 682 being tortured by the foundation in hopes to kill it and doomsday who was tortured by Burtron and his pre-kryptonians -both are considered some of the biggest threats in their universe, with doomsday beating darkside and scp-682 being considered on the same level as god its probably a super stomp for doomsday via death battle dc scaling but damn imagine scp-682 slowly getting smarter throughout the fight slowly closing the gap

Tales of is my favorite RPG franchise. I want Tales of in Death Battle so bad. I have plenty of ideas for Tales of Death Battles.

Important Questions: Why do People Connect Tanjiro with Joseph Joestar? When can Tetsou from Akira even do? Why did it take so long for Vegeta to Return? Is there a Better Matchup for Scarlet Witch other than Zatanna.

1. Tanjiro and Jonathan both use breathing techniques and swords to kill undead creatures that are weak to sunlight. Both had a sibling that was turned into one of these monsters and (SPOILERS!) both eventually had their bodies taken over by the antagonist after they die. 2. Tetsou's powers include telekinesis, telepathy, teleportation, shield creation, precognition, rapid healing, and a few other things. 3. IDK, ask the people making the show. 4. The only other opponents I've heard for Scarlet Witch are Raven and Madoka Kaname from Madoka Magica.

Tanjiro's JoJo MU is Jonathan, not Joseph. Iirc, it's mostly because they're kindhearted individuals who join a group specialized in using breathing-based "magic" martial arts to defeat supernatural and undead beings. Tetsuo has a wide array of telekinetic and psychic abilities that allow him to make constructs with matter around him, read minds, teleport himself as a bolt of energy, regenerating his appendages with pieces of debris around him to the point of reconstructing tissues almost perfectly, and even creating pocket dimensions at the peak of his power. The DB Crew was probably more interested in MUs that didn't involve Vegeta before this Season

@@HB-fq9nn It's not the traditional form of rapid healing you're familiar with. He basically manipulates debris in a way that it mimics living tissue. He's not Deadpool or anything like that.

Here’s one for you: Garou the Hero Hunter (One Punch Man) VS Hero Killer Stain (My Hero Academia).

1:04 I saw people say Goku Black vs Bizzaro works. It's Goku vs Superman, but it's not. Me personally, I think Goku Black vs Mephiles from Sonic 06 is the next best match up, as one sided as it is. Both are time travelers, both are imposters/evil versions of a main character (Goku for Black and Shadow for Mephiles), both hate humans, both are partially responsible for a ruined future, both use fusion to create a godly being (Merged Zamasu and Solaris), both are wearing black, both have a "super" form that involves pink and dark purple, both have actually succeeded in killing a main character (Black killed Goku with his own body and Mephiles killed Sonic), and both are extremely sadistic and torment a character from the future (Trunks and Silver, though with Silver it was because Mephiles was manipulating him). Both are also time paradoxes per say and created a time loop based on their origin stories. I dare say the Goku Black arc and Sonic 06 are literally the same story. 1:25 idk much about Scourge, but I think he is basically supposed to be evil Sonic, like how Reverse Flash is evil Flash. Idk Scourges story though 3:11 I'm very surprised this wasn't the match up 4:37 I'm surprised Saitama and Jiren from Dragon Ball Super didn't fight. Both are bald, both can one shot most characters, both are pretty stoic, calm and composed, both are heroes, both are the strongest in their universes (Jiren is the strongest mortal of Universe 11), and both are part of a hero team (Saitama with the hero association and Jiren with the Pride Troopers) Also for anyone wondering the music, it's Draconian Mechanics, theme for Dragonzord vs Mechagodzilla

Madara vs Ganondorf is actually pretty good but video rules stop it, Aizen vs teridax sounds hilarious

I have a Goku Black mu being Dominius from The One Piece DnD. Both being alternate reality selfs of a past version of a main character(Goku Black and Duros) who use a form of immortality with themselves, using an item that allows them to screw over the laws of their worlds and caused a shit storm with Time, also they got cucked by a sword wielding character many don’t consider until coming in clutch

Another opponent for popeye in my opinion that could work would be Toriko. Sense thier comedic characters who gain there power from food.

DIO VS Springtrap's animation can only work if you use a non-canon, one-off spin-off game for William. It feels like using Eggman in a MU purely because of his abilities in Sonic Chronicles, I feel. No disrespect to anyone who likes the matchup, but I really personally feel it just doesn't work. (Even using FNAF World, I don't think he even has much to pull from to begin with?)

They also use the iaido style of sword fighting, use their powers to create sword constructs as projectiles, and are well known for wearing blue coats. Not sure who wins, but if they did this it could could end with potentially the best one stroke duel in the series

I nfiltrated an establishment where children are usually found which promptly lead to the most horrible events in their world (The Tragedy and Missing Children Incident) Assumed a false identity after those events in a spin-off novel (Ryoko Otonashi and Dave Miller) Were crushed to death by their own creation when the children they tortured the most ganged up on them (Killing game survivors putting Junko through her Punishments and Missing Children's souls causing a springlock failure in William Afton's suit) Lived posthumously through "remnants" of themselves (Junko's ideology carried by the Remnants of Despair and Remnant being the phenomenon that fused William's soul to SpringBonnie) Came back as computer virus in a VR game with the intent of taking over the minds of the people inside (Alter Ego Junko in the Neo World Program and Glitchtrap in the Fazbear Virtual Experience) Have countless reproductions of their mascots, some with unique designs (Monokumas in UDG and Springtraps in Special Delivery) Had their plans succeeded by a costume wearing girl (Tsumugi Shirogane and Vanny) Their skills contrast each other: Junko is an analyst who relies on manipulation and camera observation while William/Springtrap has the ability to create illusions and usually takes care of things personally while trying to evade camera observation. Also William is more knowledgeable in robotics than Junko is despite her having the better tech.

Goku Black vs Cyborg Superman: It’s evil Goku vs Evil Superman but they actually have similar ideologies. Both of them are evil doppelgängers who seek to corrupt the image of the hero they emulate by taking a form that resembles them and their powers and using said powers for nefarious purposes. Superboy Prime also works, but that match has GB dies written all over it. Reverse Flash vs Lord Drakkon: Doppelgängers of a great hero who gains power from an extra dimensional source and screw over entire timelines. I guess Scourge works better but Drak is Thawne’s only good opponent outside of him and Goku Black. Dio vs Hunter Zoloman: They wear yellow, are arrogant, and control time. Alucard vs Blade: Vampires who kill vampires. Korra vs Lloyd Garmadon: Unlikely chosen ones who control the elements and have a big spirit summon thing. Infinitely more fair than Storm. Storm vs Mera: Queens who have near unmatched control over the elements. Mera was able to fight multiple JL A listers at the same time so this way more fair than Korra. Saitama vs The Tick: Two parody heroes who’s only powers are being incredibly strong and durable who are surrounded by useless heroes. Saitama is incredibly reserved while the Tick is over dramatic 24-7. Popeye vs Arale: Battle of east vs west between two seemingly normal characters who are needlessly overpowered.

@@deadakus yes well they made a mythology match 5 months after my comment, I have no idea why they specifically chose Archie sonic but I assume it was their only option to avoid a complete stomp since walley would just blitz majority of speedsters outside DC. If they did do popular comic exclusive characters we'd see Knull or the Batman who laughs by now but my unique match up is Parallax Hal vs Cosmic Ghost Rider since my comment section on Facebook was divided by this match up
