Thank you for highlighting how mentally fatigued homeschooling moms can get. I often forget to afford myself grace for the fact that homeschooling and/or being with children all day can cause mental fatigue.

I started doing the 6 week - 1 week off (that I call my "sabbath week") this year and it changed my life! On our week, we always take Saturdays off to go to church and we really disconnect, so I took that concept of the Sabbath and applied it in our school, it has been a blessing! I'm happy to hear someone else does too! We usually go out in our RV or I focus on things that I cannot possibly get done while Im homeschooling, it is the best thing ever! Thanks for the info, I taken some and will implement them in the next school year.

I live in one of the few highly regulated states for homeschool! It is a blessing for you and your family to not have to deal with the school system despite homeschooling. I wish my state would jump on board with that!

Wow! This is my 17th homeschool year and you inspired me! I love your quarterly check in system. Also love how you shared taking a break after 6 weeks of intensive school keeps you from burning out. I can’t seem to take a spring break or it kills my motivation. I also love spring weather in Alabama but the summer is 🥵. I’d rather school in summer.

This was a great schedule video really breaking it down! I appreciated that you said at the 6 week mark you needed the break more than your kids. I think we oftentimes forget to think of ourselves and what we can handle while trying to handle it all.

Thank you so much for your videos like this Ashlee! You’ve worked this way for years and because of your videos I have the confidence to work my schedule similarly to yours. There is so much flexibility in this type of scheduling but still keeping the end goal in sight and achievable.

Thank you for this! We(little kids) just got started back, 2wks ago and are doing well. My high schoolers are starting back at the end of Aug. I wanted to start the littles back first, so we could already have our routine going, by the time the olders join in. It's easier for me, rather than start with all 6 (plus a 3.5yr old) starting at once. I LOVE the quarterly "worksheet"! That's such a great idea! Thanks for that! I'm going to do the same for our olders, so they can have a goal each quarter.

Thank you so much for your tips and guidance! I’ve been following for a few years now. You saved me from so much stress by telling us about not planning lessons. I tell every homeschool mom I know! It makes it so much easier! Thank you for all you do and the help you give so many homeschool parents. We started using TGTB last year and we are using them again this year for my fourth year of homeschooling! God bless you and yours! ❤️

We learn year around and ours started back in mid-June. This time I had the kiddos get involved in the scheduling (don't write down lesson numbers either). It was a lot of fun and went smoothly once we found a common ground. We map out a 3-month section at at a time and picked our weekly trips. Previously I would map out the year and then break things down. We'll see how this new prep works. Thank you for sharing how you schedule, very helpful tips. Especially no end date, we are doing that this time. Hope all is well!

I like what you said about the break at 6 weeks. We did preschool last year but it was very kid led rather than structured schedule. I will definitely take that into consideration when I’m planning.

This was so helpful! I’ve been at it about as long as you have but I still gleaned quite a bit from you here- I’m totally going to print out a sheet like you did showing the quarters and where we should be as far as lessons and by approximately when- so thank you for that idea! And also I completely agree about the 6 week mark…I also usually take a week break if we haven’t had any particular reason to break before 6 weeks of solid school goes by. I think you’re right about mom probably needing the break more than the kids haha! Praying for another wonderful year for you! Thank you again for sharing and your encouragement!

Here in our state of Missouri, because I don’t know what state you’re in, we are only required to make sure that our children have 1000 hours of schooling per year 600 of those hours need to be in the four core subjects which is really kind of cool cause it gives me a lot of room to play with extracurricular activities and other things as well. For instance this year we’re going focus heavily on geography and I also got some around the world snack boxes from Amazon I thought would would be really cool as the kids are eating treats from different countries that were going to learn about the world they were also going to do DNA and start on and his the project Built

Thank you for all the ideas!! Always refreshing to hear new ways that others organize their homeschools 😊 Question: If you don't finish all the lessons in a subject during a school year, do you continue it the next year before jumping into the next level? I guess it depends on the level of understanding, etc but just curious!

I wish I didn't have to keep a planner, but my evaluator said that she needs to see 180 detailed. I don't know if it's my state requiring that (PA), or what, but it is annoying and very repetitive. I have high aspirations of being super organized, but in reality I am mostly just trying to keep my head above water homeschooling my 4 boys.

I just started homeschooling in PA. My 16, 15, 12, 10 year olds all started at different points during the year and I'm just so concerned about having everything in order. Especially since we had to do a lot of unschooling due to burnout from private school and grief. Hopefully, I'll get everything recorded properly 🙏
