I have lived here my whole life. I hate the politics here. The ONLY good thing about California is the weather. But I really escape because I know I would be hated wherever I went, as I would just be seen as another Californian refugee trying to ruin their state. And I can't even blame people for that perception, because it is all too common.

Wish we can all collectively sue newsom and not the state of California.

Murdock v Pa, 1943 even clearly stated that. It ruled that even normal sales taxes cannot be applied to bibles (or other things we have a right to), let alone a direct tax like this one

Minneapolis Star vs Minnesota Commissioner of Revenue also says this is a no. That one was about a tax on ink which would unduly affect newspapers. They straight up said you cannot tax a protected right.

I’m a law abiding citizen that has a Ca CCW since 1987 retired LEO I unfortunately let my CCW expire by 33 days and went to renew and OC Sheriff said I would be required to not renew but to go through the entire new CCW process. Ca effectively turned a law abiding citizen into a criminal because I will still carry and will not go through the process again.

Thanks for the video. I have to admit, I gave up. Lived there from 1985-2022. I never voted for a democrat. I Followed all the rules, regulations and bills regarding the 2nd amendment. Obtained a CCW and got doxxed after trying to recall Gav. Now I walk into a store, buy what I want and walk out with it. I can legally carry outside or inside the waistband without a license. That’s how it should be everywhere. I miss the climate and taqueria burritos. That’s it.

Nevada will be thrilled. Spend a day in Reno. Take your wife to lunch, a little gambling and some shopping, and return to California while enjoying a scenic drive.

The dealers have already said they’ll pass along the 11% directly to the consumer. We need to get the Rhode case moving so we can order ammo directly again w/out the 11%. The ultimate point of the law is to drive dealers out of the business because it will slow sales way down.

I gave up trying to keep up with and trying to understand California's gun control laws, never complied, NEVER WILL.

Mark Smith (Four Boxes Diner KZread channel) in a previous video cited two US Supreme Court cases ruling that a tax levied on an individual Constitutional right was unconstitutional. One case involved a $1.00 poll tax, & the other case: 1983 Minneapolis Star case that ruled a tax on printing press ink violated Freedom of the Press. So, there is hope that this 11% excise tax will eventually be struck down. Although, it will likely have to go all the way to the US Supreme Court given how the 9th Circuit has never seen an anti-2A law that they have ruled against yet at the en banc level.

What's annoying is that it goes into effect, then California loves to find ways to drag their feet to make it impossible to get overturned

I, like many of my friends, have been buying as much as we can afford before that date arrives.

But this isn't one of those kinds of laws that you can just choose to ignore. The FFL, as mentioned in this video, will have no choice but to pass the buck on to the customer because there's no way that they can afford to pay that 11% tax all out of their own pockets. So what are you going to do, pay the FFL 11% under the list price? Good luck with that/ And good luck convincing any FFL to not pay the tax, they'd almost certainly (at the least) get their business license, FFL, or both pulled by CA) and probably get hit with heavy fines for not paying the tax and maybe even arrested.

Between New York State and California I really can't say which is the worst. They really don't have any conference in the Constitution and apparently the legislators and governor do not take their oath of office seriously . What a shame that the constituents aren't showing more involvement and trying to take some of their constitutional guaranteed rights back

Lawsuits are in the magazine, but "can't be filed until harm has been done." So until the state charges someone the tax, there's "no harm." (not agreeing with it, but that's precedent.)

as soon as they pay it then they can sue for being Damaged. They have to have a plaintiff that has incurred infringement or damages before the judges say people have standing. That's why these laws are so frustrating we have to wait to show damages before we can challenge them. It is shitty but thats how the law grinds away. Vote the right people in so idiots aren't making laws.
