I’ve corresponded with L.A. residents here on KZread who carry without permits, and some of them have been carrying for years. One wrote he’s been carrying for 7 years. I knew an L.A. senior citizen who has been carrying a mouse gun without a permit since the 50s or 60s. Another fearless resident wrote how he was acquitted twice on two different occasions after using his permitless pistol. We need to follow these people’s examples. It’s not a right of a permit is required. Carry with purpose and confidence. Take classes for sure but NEVER allow anyone especially your government to instill fear in you and disarm you.

My wife and I both have CCWs, and we live in LA County (City of Palmdale). It took us eighteen (18) months from the time we filed our applications with the LA County Sheriff's Department to the date we received our CCWs. The County (except for certain cities such as Los Angeles) is policed by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Dept (the largest Sheriff's Dept in the United States). The previous Sheriff (Villaneuva) was an excellent, pro-gu, pro-Liberty, pro-America Sheriff who defied the LA County Board of Supervisors and issued CCWs without a problem. However, the current LA County Sheriff (Luna) is a mere puppet of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors - the majority of whom are anti-gun. Los Angeles County is the largest in Commiefornia when measured on the basis of population. Nearby San Bernardino is the largest county in terms of physical area in the contiguous United States. Molon Labe!

It is a simple fix sir, the NICS system performs a background check for every purchase, hundreds of thousands per month. The second amendment is a constitutional right and therefore if you can own a gun, you can carry that gun. There is absolutely no reason to have to wait for a "deep dive" interview, background check, or special class to exercise a right. The state, issuing authority and trainer are all covered under the waiver for misuse of the firearm, so why should it take thousands of dollars and years of time to issue a government permission slip when there is no liability and the applicants are already checked for criminal history and warrants?

Let's not forget that Hollywood stars and politicians always get their permits.

Obtaining a CCW in LA county was virtually unheard of for most LA County residents before Sheriff Villanueva. Even if you didn't like Villanueva, that in itself is an accomplishment. Of course the Board of Supervisors hated him. That is the 4/5 demacrat majority Board of supervisors. I wonder if that was a factor in them wanting to get rid of him (sarcasm).

States should not be able to ban carry, it is a constitutional right. The states authority on ccw is void.

the prior LA County Sheriff opened up CCW without Just Cause in 2020 prior to Bruin, because, as he stated, with current budget cuts, he could not ensure residents' safety. Additionally, because of his investigations into LA area politicians, local politicians supported the new sheriff during the last election.

So... this will be the 3RD time I get screwed! The first time, by the LACSD... second time by the LBPD, and this will be the THIRD time, but by the LACSD once again. I have spent almost 2k on weapons, equipment, and the administrative aspects of the whole CCW process, and still I have been DENIED! What more can I do as an average citizen?? I grow tired of those that support (allegedly) the 2nd Amendment simply telling me, "... well, that's the way it is here!". I've had enough. And NO, I should NOT have to MOVE OUT OF STATE. That would be admitting DEFEAT, and I am not about that!!! 😡😡😡

​@@ChrisHVACguy Permits are 💯 unconstitutional. However, speaking for a guy who knows a guy who's friends with a guy that constitutionally carries in CA. If you're a good guy, you will likely never get caught unless you have to use it. The chance of needing it is very slim, like less than 1%. Just have to factor in the risk vs reward. Probably wouldn't be a bad idea to have a 2A lawyer on retainer. And it helps to know the 14A backs up your 2A Right. We cannot have this broken system where 30 States follow the 2A and 20 States ignore it. That's where the 14A ensures our other Rights are equally protected in all States. The Right is there, it just hasn't been brought up in any court challenge yet.

Humboldt, Trinity and Shasta also. In fact, most every county north of Sacramento and Santa Rosa hand them out in weeks. Still too long, and too expensive, but much cheaper than the southern counties. The State of Jefferson would fix all of our problems, but it is a dream, and I am a dreamer.

To be honest I started Freaking out because you said Largest county in CA and I thought you where talking about San Bernardino county which is the largest county in the country by land mass. LA is such a crappy county to live in. The sales tax in LA county is as high as 11%. This isn't the first time LA county has basically not issued permits, it was next to impossible to get them Pre-Bruin.

I never understood how you need "a permit" permission to exercise YOUR 2nd ammendment, most importantly to protect the 1st!!!

They should all stop, because there shouldn't be a NEED for them. Constitutional Carry Everywhere.

Under Bonta’s interpretation of the Constitution, California could require citizens to obtain government permission cards before being permitted to attend religious services or purchase a newspaper!

I am currently in the process of my CCW permit. San Bernadino County requires a Phycological evaluation that costs $400 on top of the $350 for the rest of the permit process.

American citizens we must not comply with the government overreacting of our rights! Mass non-compliance is duty at this point! I've been carrying concealed for over 3 decades without incident thankfully. However, my wife and I are Texas residents and have our CCW permits along with constitutional carry kinda! Stay safe and protect yourself and family! Government has no duty to protect you!

As I read the Constitution, Article 1 sections 9 and 10 forbidding titles of nobility, We the People are to be in the position to enforce law. But that's a foreign concept to the demonrat party. And it gets really messy when it's unclear for most people what the law actually is.

You gotta give them an appropriate donation. They'll give ya an honorary badge as well :)

Each applicant must expect to be followed because LASD expects applicants to already be carrying, which an individual taking time to apply won't illegally carry, but the Price of LA county & the King of Cali think intelligent firearm owners are the same as basic criminals who carry stolen library guns with multiple crime attached to them.

I just got mine 4 weeks ago in LA County. Waited almost 2 years!! Crazy

I started my CCW process back in May 2023. They gave me a hard time on my live scan saying they didn't have it. And I went through LAPD. They wait times are atrocious there too. CA will make you wait forever and then want to charge you double which kind of feels like a penalty because I want to exercise my 2nd Amendment Rights.

LA County wasn’t issuing CCW’s before Bruen

Guys, I am a CCW training provider, and this is the info I got directly from LASD (interpret it however you like): Vendors be advised of the following: The DOJ mandated a specific design/shape/size/style CCW Card. They standardized the CCW card for the entire state. The CCW unit is currently waiting for an order of the new cards to come in. There is no ETA on when they will start issuing cards again. Several of you have inquired about hearing there was some sort of delay. Now you know. Be safe LASD CCW Unit

I just spoke to Kostas and he confirmed through a conversation with opposing counsel that the standardizing of the cards issued across the state is the reason for the current hold with LA County. My wife and I are on the home stretch having just completed out training a couple of months ago. We were wondering what the hold up was. Lets hope they don't drag their feet on this one. Thank you for the update!

I almost had a heart attack when you said largest county in CA, because I live in the largest county which is San Bernardino County (largest in the USA). LA Country is the 2nd largest in CA

I’m in Orange County, county next door to LA county. Applied for renewal and it’s been 4 months and still no word on when I will get my permit renewed. It’s criminal and Ca has severely lost its way

Don’t need the government to tell me if I can carry or not .

Took me 22 months to complete the process in Los Angeles. It took 16 months between sending in the initial application and being first contacted for an interview.

Me: Government, can I have this, it's my constitutional right. Government: NO. Me: SCREW YOU, try and stop me.

If we’re talking about the same thing, the wheels have stopped turning temporarily because the State of CA is moving from “permit” to license and will be standardizing the issuance process including all ID cards which are all over the map in layout and content being issued from the various agencies.

Not only sew the Mayer,sue the sheriff,it's his county.

The Alameda County Sheriff Dept has also ceased accepting CCW applications. They are referring applicants to the city departments, most of which don’t even issue CCWs and don’t have any program or personnel to do so.
