Sophie Willian asked Alan to go in and put the stuffed cat on her device, so she could put it through the top. This was edited down version doesn’t show her attempt, but the full episode does show hers and the other comedians attempts.
And that is a good lesson for not believing everything you see! 😮😂 It looked like he'd done it so quickly, which he had when he twigged the hidden claw only to find he'd dithered about considering ideas 🤦🏻♀️ Although most of TaskMaster is figuring out What is needed and how they've set you up first 😂😂

Alex named the cat Patatas for a task in Series 2, episode 4. This episode is the second where Patatas has been directly named, but the 6th overall appearance

He is very cute. I do think that ALL of the contestants look really tired in some of the studio segments. Maybe it was the very end of the recording or maybe they use a certain type of cosmetic but there are certain bits where they all look a little ropey.

isn't it weird how attraction works, because while I agree John is handsome he does nothing for me, but James Acaster or Sam Campbell are a different story
