Beretta would call the system of no extractor a "Jet fire" . The Beretta 950 25 ACP, Beretta 21 series in 22 & 25 ACP and the Beretta Tom Cat are also designs like this one without an extractor. The centerfire cartridges are generally are not ammo sensitive in the Beretta line however the rimfires can be picky about what they are relaible with

Glad you are doing a review on this gun. I see gun makers putting out guns that are simply easier to use like S&W Shield EZ, Ruger’s Security 380, Beretta’s 80X and now the Girsan MC 14T, and manufacturer’s marketing often sheepishly says it’s for old folks, women or people with “weak hands.” Honestly, I fail to see why in the gun industry, making a gun that’s easier to use automatically relegates it to what mainstream gun folks consider some inconsequential class of customers. The MC 14T and other competing guns aren’t marketed to just plain regular gun folks who might like a gun that’s easier to handle, manipulate and shoot accurately (in .380ACP). I think that’s a mistake. These are good gun design, fun and effective in anyone’s hands.

Great Video Explaining the function of the MC14T! I would love to see and handle one of the original tilt up barrel model 86 Berretta's. They are the rarest of All the series 80 pistols. The original model 86 Tilt barrel 380's from Berretta were single stack 8 round and came with 2 mags a brush, manual, and plastic case. I have seen pictures and listings as high as $1599.00 for an original 86 here in Missouri. Unfortunately the closest thing to the Girsan MC14T I could find, is the new 13 round Non Tilt up barrel , Berretta Cheetah for $769.00 I bought the tilt up barrel Girsan MC14T in FDE for half of that. I think Girsan really tries to make their new reproduction guns as close to exact duplicates of the original as possible. Apart from updating this to a doublestack 13 round its very, very, close to a original 86. Girsan and Tisas (both Turkish gun makers) are similar in making almost exact copies of the old original all metal guns from yesteryear for usually half the cost. The Tisas 1911A1 Army model is so close to an exact WWII pistol its crazy. BTW, I saw another U tubers Girsan MC14T shooting video where he showed the Berretta (Mec Gar)13 round mags fit and function perfect in these Girsan MC14T's. Girsan has their mags on backorder and the gun only ships with 1 mag! I ordered 3 extra Berretta 80X mags with mine for under $30.00 ea. (Both are made by Italy's Mec Gar) I am not a fan of Turkey at all myself, but this pistol had so many special things going for it, I had to get one. Its either that or spend $800.00 for a Beretta Cheetah which is Not a Tilt up barrel, and not as interesting to me. Its my 1st DA/SA pistol so If I get used to the manual of arms I may get a Berretta 92 someday. Thanks for yours and others video review that helped me make up my mind to order one.

No extractor is a no go for me with a semi auto handgun. If that barrel starts to foul I can see the rounds maybe needing a little help being extracted. This will be very interesting when you run a couple hundred rounds.

Unfortunately no one has invented a way to clean a gun barrel. Maybe some day a genius will come along and solve this issue. But seriously, if a person is at the range puts hundreds of rounds of 380 through their gun in one range session then yea they could have an issue. But if a person then goes home and doesn't clean their gun and carries it for personal protection then that person is an idiot. Also, who is going to the range and putting hundreds of rounds of 380 through their gun in one range session? Your concern is a one that would only apply to someone wildly irresponsible in their gun cleaning and care habits.

Have you seen the original 86 Berretta? Its the rarest of all the 8 series 80 Beretta's Its very strange looking with all the extra bottom metal to hold the hinge pin. Its an 8 round single stack which sucks in todays world of carry or defensive pistols. Without the rail it looks much worse imho. I think the Girsan looks much better by using that metal to make the rail. But for some reason Girsan left the old school trigger housing shape. Not a very good shape for gloved hands I am sure. I wish it was shaped more like the 92FS shown in this video next to it but you cant have everything. Girsan seems to try to stick to the original as much as possible. I think they knew it needed to be updated to the 13 round as Berretta just did with the series 80X. Otherwise Girsan/EAA did a fantastic job of copying the extremely rare Beretta 86. The only changes I see are the 13 round doublestack mag update, and the rail update. It even uses the same mags as the other Beretta 380 doublestacks and they did it all at half the price of a Berretta or less. I am not a fan of Turkey but this is such a special and rare gun from Beretta, I had to buy one. I have never seen a original 86 and doubt I ever will, much less be able to own one. The last one here in MO was pretty pristine and on auction for $1599.00 with its plastic case, 2 - 8 round mags, and its manual. Ill take the 2 tone new Girsan MC14T for under $400.00 and enjoy it and shoot the heck out of it.

There isn't much of one. Unlike the Beretta Model 20/21, you have to remove the barrel to remove the slide. Beretta didn't encourage that with the 86 and I doubt Girsan advises it with this gun.

It's a blowback design. You can't make a blowback design in 30 Super without adding a locking mechanism or a substantial amount of weight to the slide. It would be a completely different gun at that point. There's this one problem that you have to contend with when designing guns, it's called physics. Most people have a grade school level of knowledge when it comes to physics so they don't understand that you can't just take a design and adapt it to any caliber without changes.
