Very cool knife especially for the price which at the moment is only $42. I’m glad they went with 1095 though as I get older I’m less of a steel snob especially with carbon steel anything better than 1055 and I’m happy as long as the price is relatively fair for the steel and for stainless 14c28n and higher quality steels and U can call me 😃.

Excellent review. I would buy this knife, but I expect it to have a sharp blade and hopefully a sharp spine as well, though I could of course sharpen them myself. That sheath would stop me dead. Please request that Condor adds a leather sheath option.

Informative review. I have one (same color) and its becoming my go-to knife. I don't have a Garberg to compare it to but would imagine the Garberg would have a better fit and finish. The Terrasaur handle is more stiff in the palm compared to my Eldris, which gives a little (squishy).

Nice looking knife and great review. You could use the Worksharp Feild Sharpener to sharpen the spine. I am a bit surprised to see this style knife is still so popular after the Garburg/Kansbol debate was so over publicized. I would have thought that the community would have just been tired of it, but I'm glad that Joe is able to be successful with this. He hit the price point that Garburg should have came in at. Thanks for sharing!

I own this knife and the one thing I would agree on is their quality control. I got my knife and it wasn't sharp to my standards and the spine was lacking as well. I am okay with that because I can sharpen and use a file to touch up the spine. I did have a difficult time with this steel. None of my diamond stones were working, which I sharpen s30, and s35 and other 1095 steels no issues. I had to get the waterstones out and spend some time evening the grind. After some work though it is an awesome knife for $42. Spend some money on a leather sheath and your set.

@@tkettle13 I hear you. I bought my Garberb for $75.00 out the door. I love it! As with any knife, sharpening it correctly is a talent. My Dad showed me years ago how to do it correctly. His litmus test, with all his knives, whether it be for hunting, filleting fish, or kitchen knives, was the shave test. Then, he would show me how he split hairs as well. He was a magician with his knives. I have yet to reproduce the same edge he was able to do with the exact same sharpening system :( This knife is probably a "decent" knife, but I like a little more than decent.

Judging by what you said I would just ask that they put a sharper edge on it right out of the factory. Dude the heat treat is on the hard side. I struggled with my diamond stones to get this right which I know doesn't make sense. I had to use Japanese water stones from 250 grit and work my way up to 8000 then strop to get razor sharp. I have the ken onion with the blade grinder attachment but I didnt use that. I like to use stones to insure the scandi grind stays a true flat grind instead of a slight scanvex aka (scandi/convex).

I have several mora knives, specifically bushcraft black and two kansbol knives, the blades are just so sharp and easy to sharpen to razor keen edges. Though I’m adept at sharpening free hand I have to work so much harder with Condor knives, their edge geometry is sometimes not symmetrical and grind is short and steep.

good back yard review. I bought one because of a skewed faux comparison/review by Shawn Kelly over on Corporals Corner. He's normally a really great guy produces really great informative bushcraft videos but, I think he is prejudiced for Mora... Any way I bought the condor and have several condor knives they all were a wee bit on the dull-ish side right out of the box but just a few passes over a medium water stone all of them were hair popping sharp. my feeling is that a knife is a tool and just because it costs a hundred dollars doesn't make it a better tool than one that costs half that much. Any way thank you for the good video

It's serviceable if you're on a budget. The similarities to the Garberg end at "size, Scandi grind, polymer sheath" though. Once you start getting into the details the Garberg costs more but you're getting a better made item. The sheath on the Terrasaur is a very soft plastic that mars easily, and removing the belt loop collar just once already shows substantial damage to the retention protrusions so that's probably not going to hold up over long term use. The ambidextrous option was a nice thought though. The Mora polymer is a better more durable quality and applies to the handle material as well. Other things are the spine isn't nearly as sharp and well done on the Terrasaur as it is on the Garberg, the grind is clearly done asymmetrical on the Terrasaur, and the lanyard hole is just rough machined through the tang and handle, on mine it will probably wear out the lanyard inside the hole after a while. I do tend to really like Joe's designs, I just wish Condor would do them some better justice in the manufacturing.
