If you are a reseller. You have to buy smart and as low as possible. If you are a serious collector the price is not as important but you still want a good deal. For a collector a collection like this will be likely held on to for a few decades or longer. Ten, twenty to thirty years from now these moderns will have all likely increased in value some extremely well. The dealer dosen't have the luxury of waiting to sell decades later to sell the collection. He must turn inventory fast so he can buy more inventory. The dealer is offering the seller fast money, a fast sale for everything. Fast money has value. It saves the seller, time, gas, headaches, and hassles. If its a one time buy you shoot low and negotiate up if you have to. Explain why this collection will take a long time to sell in the current market. Confirm what he is starting to understand. If you are buying for investment rather than the fun of collecting. Buy older, high grade, key date comics that have demand. If you are not buying for investment buy what you like and enjoy your collection and being collector. A nice quality collection likey will increase in value over the years.

Im new like him and my collection is very similar in variety.

I'm not big into newer books, the art looks cool, but the art on Silver and Bronze is amazing.

Lesson to be learned here new collectors…. Variants and ratios are a good way to lose cash but if nots a key it’s hard to sell… save your money and buy actual keys…

I will never forget I spent $100 on virgin venom 35 variant and now it’s worth $15 lol I was afraid it was going to be an untouchable variant lesson learned 😂

I enjoy buying variants myself but I'm not looking to make money or sell them anytime soon. They may never be worth anything but I'm okay with that

I think $3k is a decent ask. There aren't too many keys, however, they are pretty nicely bagged/boarded already which is ALWAYS a plus.

Personally I think $3k is a steal. It isnt hard to figure out how to make a profit from what was shown. I can already see most of the money coming from making a skottie young lot. I would put it for auction on eBay and it doesnt even have to be one lot you can break it up into multiple skottie young lots and dont forget to check how old some of them are. The older the better and could be auctioned individually because they don't surface that often so dont be surprised if you get many offers because their are some die hard skottie young collectors out there. The other variants will take time to sell and as for the older stuff, I'm more than sure you know how to move those. Good luck

$300/box seems reasonable to me.

Look to me he was selling you a bunch of stuff that was recently hot and is cooling off right now...3k is a huge pass honestly modern stuff like this I either wouldn't touch or offer 500 because I know it's not going to be an easy sell and if you got to grade stuff well there's more investment there in doing it and it takes time

Depends on buyers' perspective. If you are in a comic book buy&sell business or buying them for the purpose of flipping, then $3000 is high in my opinion. But if you're buying it strictly for personal collection, 3000 is still kinda high but fair.

Ooooff... $1,600.00. Nice books, but not worth the trouble for 3K.

But I’ve flipped high end incentives after cgc ing them into some decent money dept of truth 1 paid 50, got a 9.8 sold for 800 so that’s something to think about with how great the conditions were

Yeah, 3k (I had it at between 2500 and 3000), maybe a bit more. It's a pretty nice looking collection.

Find it sad that the seller collected according to Key Collector app. Some of my all-time favorites will never be a "key." The whole "key" mentality has been ruining this pastime.

800-1k and you are being nice. To make any money you would have to grade a few books and hope you get 9.8’s. If he wants 3k he should sell it book by book.

A NM what if 10 and a FAP Jessica = Schlop? There's loads of money in these boxes. I'm not spending 3G on them but to call then schlop is going too far the other way.

I stay away from the modern books. Too many variants. Feels like the speculation boom of the 90's and that didn't end well. I'd pass on this collection. Might be too hard to unload, but I'm no expert.

$2000 is probably what I would pay based on the bulk because the hours shifting those books is going to kill 😂

Cap Annual 8 is one of my favorite all time books... I have about 30 copies and always look to add more.

I would just pass and not even offer anything too much modern books.

Its hard to move modern books I would do 750 to 1k tops. If he wants 3k plus sale them him self can see how much of a pain in the A it is. Modern variants are a waste of money better of buying bronze and silver age stuff. I don't ever buy a modern variant for idea of value I just buy them if I like the cover.

I think 3k is over price in my opinion. There were some great keys but not a lot. Some books you will be able to move and rest will be in back for a long long time. I’ll say between 2-2,500 for all of those modern

First, all his short boxes seemed 2/3 full, so really not 10 short boxes of volume, more like 6-7. So it is 900-1000 books. A lot of that filler is realistically $1 books if you want to move them with any kind of speed. Second, there were lots of variants and many of them were Skottie variants. Those actually sell really fast and usually for $5-$10 a piece. There were some in there that if you CGC'ed them AND got 9.8'sm would be $70-$80 books. But that is investing another $30 into a $10 book Third, there were some key older books in there that would flip pretty fast. Forth, some of the price stickers on those books reveal the guy way overpaid, so you can't base your decision on any of those. Example he had a $50 sticker on his Venom Lethal Protectors #1 and that is $30-$35 NM. Or that 1:100 Strange #1 has an $80 sticker and is is readily available on the market for $50. So it shows he is paying over market considerably, and I would assume he did so on many of this other book purchases. Even if you say 20% of the collection was variants with an average sell of $7 and the rest were $1-$2 books if you want to move them in a years time, with a handful of key books that maybe totaled to $300, you are talking about a final sale price of $2900. Round it up to $3000. So obviously paying $3000 for them would make no sense. It is so many books and your money would be tied up for so long that I wouldn't pay more than $.40 on the dollar. So $1200 is what I would offer. Now, you got a better look at the books and their condition particularly on keys and variants. There were probably certainly good books that we might have missed on video that could alter this assessment. Or if you though this thing was just a goldmine of 9.8 variants if you sent them off to CGC, that might also be cause to pay more. You might be able to print a little more money through grading, but of course not without taking additional risk. But just from what I could tell in the video, I wouldn't pay out more than $1200 and I would try to at least get them for even less. You are probably too far apart with this guy and how he values his stuff.

Typically when I buy a higher priced modern variant, I get it because I like it enough personally and I want it for my collection. Than I just hope the value goes up, just in case I needed the cash, but even if it went down, I still love the comic. Big difference between someone buying to sell, or buying to collect. Right?

Nope!!!!! Pass the market is sooooo saturated with this stuff. Do not go a penny more than $1500 and that's being nice.

Like most modern collections of any era, at the time, it takes 30-40 years for them to mature in value if they are going to mature at all.

I was thinking 2500 would be a good number. 3k still leaves plenty of room especially if you get some of the keys graded. In the end, I would have ponied up the 3k.

I've been in the hobby for only about 5 years, but I know I'd feel bad paying 3k for that amount of modern. If your intention is to sell them, many will collect dust.

$3,000 for 10 Boxes! Daredevil, Moon Knight, Ms. Marvel, Silver Surfer, Thor, Modern Books, etc.

Some of those covers are beautiful, but this is one of those videos that puts so much into perspective!! That collection probably cost him way too much over time and the fact is that the selling perspective for so many of those issues is so low. Maybe over time, piece by piece you could make the money back, but I personally wouldn't do much more than $50-75 a box for the whole collection. I really wouldn't even want any of it other than the Silver and Bronze Age stuff. The cool covers are the things I pick up in dollar bins just to have because they look good.

2k would probably be my top dollar on this collection. Good stuff here and a few modern keys for sure but, nothing crazy that really grabs my attention personally.

Only thing I invest in is Bronze and Copper keys high grade👍

Have you ever thought of bulking out these collections and finding a show vendor that is looking for a steady supply of $5-10 box fill? Keep the stuff you know you can sell on eBay.. bulk the rest.

Great video and the collection was good it does have a lot of modern comics. 3 thousand is ok if you can make a profit in the long run.

A few Nice books for sure but 3000 for it all is too much. If I owned this collection and was selling to a family member or close friend I would be asking $2000

3k is way to high, its 10 shott boxes. Probably around 1k books so your at 3 dollars a book. It would take you to long to recoup your money if you even do after shipping costs and selling fees. He would be lucky to get 50 dollars a box from a store. I would offer 1k and move on.

When you consider what the gentleman paid for the comics, you would think $3000 is a good deal. Unfortunately his collection is not ideal for a "bulk sale". I fell victim to the variant craze too. It is tough, because I understand why many people commented that they would pay about $1000. Some comments were saying even less, which I do not agree with. I guess this collection could sell for $1000 to $2000 as a whole to a seller. He might get $3000 if he sold to a collector that is really into the variants and more modern comics, but that is a BIG "if" because most collectors would not multiple copies and there are other reasons too.

$3g? That's a hard pass. There is no money to be made at that price.

He is asking about $2 a book which sounds fine but since your a reseller you need to be paying fifty cents or less a book.

Yeah current modern books (regardless if variant cover it not) may be hard to get rid of for the current flipper, but I’ve been through this before and all comics eventually go up. Maybe not to pay off college or retire, but I don’t think people should scared off from collecting current stuff. I’d go about $1k.

Never buy ratio variants unless you find them at cost. Significant first appearances aside. Even then it's a gamble.

That seller has come to the harsh realization of how those 'modern' former-Marvel comics will be valued in the future : Sell yesterday!

If he gave me $3,000, I might take that modern drek off his hands.

Would have just picked the Daredevil, Moon Knight, Punisher and the other bronze and copper age books and offered him $1200. Too much modern garbage, flavor of the week material for me. If he wasn’t willing to let you fill a couple short boxes for $1200 and you walked.. smart move.

I would pass. Unless its dirt cheap and you actually want to read each one.

The Strange Academy books shown were not the money books, they sold em or kept em is my guess.

I was thinking more like $2000 but honestly I was unfamiliar with some of those Venom slabs. It is a nice collection. So tough to figure out. Much rather buy one bin and make a smaller offer. Too many books that most likely would never sale.

My friend posts ads on craigslists every few days and he gets a couple calls a week, give or take (goto craigs list and type comic books and im sure youll see what i mean). Other message boards, also when u goto comic stores and its busy just small talk with people that are looking near you. Always a good way to meet people and potential buyers/sellers.

the guys in the comment section aren't thinking in math they're thinking in greed, 10 boxes with roughly 1,500 books all together and with the amount of good books in there, I can sell those scotty young $5 - $10 all day and thats not including the keys and older books in there (for extra credit you can slab thats another story) and your getting each book for $2, thats a steal. like the guy said he made sure he got the keys. whoever says differently is just used to lowballing people in need or lowballing poor people who don't know what they have. the comment section makes me sad

Anyone who's tossing out numbers under a grand is just insane and really just showing they don't know the industry at all. They have a NM what if 10 and a FAP Jessica Jones... and people are suggesting they'd go as high as $400-600?! The seller wasn't a crackhead looking to score a fix! I realize some of you want to act big but 10 short boxes full of variants for 40-60 a box is just never going to happen. Stop trying to convince others that you live in a world where you're buying this collection for under a grand.

At 3 grand you'd have to sell a lot of the comics locally, if you're selling online the time/effort, resources, labour and Ebay fees would eat away at the profit. His ask of 3 grand doesn't consider the seller very much. It's a lot harder to flip this collection. However it's absurd to suggest at or under a grand.

You basically pissed off the seller in the end. Whether it's modern or older you should already have a leg on the market. It's your freakin job to do so! Next time don't waste people's time.

If you watched the video you heard the seller mention his motives so it's never a waste of time for him to gauge the value of his collection from a fair collector/ reseller. He probably wanted to know the flipside to the lcs' offering him 20 dollars a box store credit only..
