He said he was going back to the hotel and I can see nobody else wanting to call it a night at 930pm, remember these are a bunch of college kids in a big city looking to party. I don't wanna put it bluntly but it sounds that intellectually he was a child in a man's body. I dont think he's ever had much if any experience with alcohol and the one drink probably got him drunk unless someone in his party or a few of them thought it would be funny if they spiked the drink with sumthing to get him really messed up.

absolutely agree, but one friend was leaving with him and got stuck paying the tab and when he finished, Riley was gone. That friend must be feeling so much guilt because it seemed like he was actually going to be looking after Riley.

You mean his friends are lying? Receipts don't lie. If Riley paid for one drink and 2 waters, that means he got the shots and other drinks from his drunken friends. Groups usually buy rounds of drinks for everyone.

People need to start taking care of their friends when they are out drinking. In my town a girl went missing after bar hopping years ago and was never found. Another girl got in a vehicle drunk thinking it was a cab - it wasn't - they found her body in another town. If you are a true friend, you will make sure your friends get home safely after a night out drinking. I pray that God helps Riley's family find him and that he is found safe.

See the thing is… it’s personal responsibility. Even in the cases you just mentioned, they were so intoxicated. No one has to look out for you except you. If you’re going to be so intoxicated, you have to realize something may go wrong. It’s no one’s responsibility to look after you except your own. Had those girls not been wasted…. There were at least six other people who could have paid Riley’s $5 bill. Nothing prevented Riley’s so-called friends from leaving the bar with him, other than wanting to remain. This reminds me of a young man who disappeared while visiting Michigan State University for a football game weekend. After some drinking, he set out to go back to the dorm he was staying at. He disappeared and many were convinced he had met foul play. He didn’t know the area either and there was a river running thru the campus. They eventually found him in that river. He had been drinking, alone and did not know the area well and fell in the river. This case sounds so similar, unfortunately. My heart breaks for his family.

After watching all the interviews with his family The few things that stuck in my mind was his mom talked to him 45 min prior to this happening and he wasn’t drunk so obviously he wasn’t drinking prior to this bar! Then the cousin who is his best friend said this is way out of character and he doesn’t drink like this. 😢 and watching all the videos of this poor kid I knew he looked drugged and then injured from that bad fall hitting that concrete/pole. Unfortunately bad choices were made like his friend that walked out with him but then turned around and went back inside. One of His fraternity brothers could have put something in his drink thinking it would be funny to watch him make a fool of himself but it went terribly wrong.. who knows what happened except it was really bad. This news article leaves several blanks to be filled in. 1) this bar only served him one drink, so he was elsewhere drinking since he was already drunk at Luke's. 2) Luke's security escorted him out because of conduct problems. No interest in knowing what conduct problems we are talking about. Suppose he exchanged words with someone in the bar and that person was following him after he got thrown out. 3) as the news guy says standing next to the river this is the last place where he was & the phone pinged, and it's as if he disappeared. That's because he fell in the river and the currents had 16 hours to move his body further along before his friends contacted police. If he was still alive on land, surely someone would have reported seeing him at 6'6"with all the publicity there.

In fact, your religion takes just as much, if not MORE, blind faith to believe in. That's "why". You buy into spontaneous existence without even understanding what it is or what it involves. You believe you're "going against the grain" because your under developed mind has convinced you that it makes you unique, different and gives you a false sense of intellectual prowess, when in fact none of those are true.

Reminds me of when I was in college. A bunch of us from the same dorm went to see Elvis Costello in concert on campus. It was General Admission so, being the idiots that we were, we parked ourselves at the front of the line, a day and a half early to make sure we'd be right up front. Everyone in the group drank except for me. I actually brought my calculus book and syllabus with me so I could kill time blasting ahead on my homework assignments. Thank God I didn't drink because on the night of the concert one of my girlfriends went to use a bathroom but by then she was wasted. I followed her from a distance because I genuinely worried. Sure enough, from a distance, I noticed that she drunkenly stumbled into the Men's Room, not the Ladies' Room. I knocked on the Men's Room door but nobody answered. So I yanked the door open quickly. My wasted friend was passed out, cold, on the floor, surrounded by a group of guys who were grinning like they were just served a delicious treat. Scum. I marched through the crowd of them and dragged my girlfriend the heck out of there. Our other friends and I got her back to the dorm safely. We ditched most of the Elvis Costello concert to make sure our girl was okay. We stayed with her and she sobered up with us. After that I never went to another concert on campus. I stuck with homework. I only wish Riley had loyal friends who cared about his welfare, like our friend Kim had. So sad.

He appeared intoxicated to me. It could be alcohol, drugs or a combination of the two. I've only seen reports that he ordered one drink (beer?) and a couple waters. We don't know what, if anything he drank, smoked or whatever before he went to that bar or when their party started. I hope his friends are cooperating with the police. Surely they could shed light on what happened earlier that day/evening. As far as I know, none of that has been in the press. I also wonder why he was kicked out of the bar but his friends weren't.
