    Well with a big channel like that you could try the odd slight change or even promote a second channel. But a total niche change is always going to be difficult and risky if this is how you pay the bills. Best of luck

    I'm thinking about re-branding, as every video I do only gets 10 views, I had a time where I was getting 10-100k per video KZread is absolutely insane because they aren't pushing my content out because the trend that I build my channel on isn't relevant anymore. Pretty annoying, as I put so much effort into these videos.

    Thank you for the content! I’m finding myself in this situation full of doubts. Currently I own this channel with almost 5.000 subscribers but it’s been a rollercoaster ride. It’s a channel that I created in 2011 and uploaded as a hobby. At that time I was a makeup artist creating tutorial videos. I had videos with 60K, 80K views. Then I stopped creating for a long time and put all my videos on private mode. But some few years ago, after moving abroad I felt the need to create videos again and changed my channel completely. I changed the name, the visual and my content (it is now about life abroad and sharing my thoughts and experiences). But these news videos are not “successful” as the old ones - ironically enough recorded with a crappy camera. Doesn’t matter how beautifully captured my images are, how much I work a put on editing, I barely get views. I never intended to make a channel with weekly videos, but because I don’t see any return I am posting less and less. The point is: I’m a visual artist and I don’t want to have a channel that only talks about one specific thing (living abroad) and I would like to upload more content about art and creativity (to showcase also what I produce and sell) instead of just travel. But I don’t know what to do now! If I should once again try remodeling this channel, changing the name and everything AGAIN or recognize that this channel became dead because KZread doesn’t send my content to my followers anymore or to any new ones and maybe it’s time to indeed start from the scratch with a new one? Any advice will be much appreciated! Sorry for the long explanation 😅

  • @channelprofits

    @channelprofits

    Yeah the issue is you lost everyone along the way and became irrelevant in the algorithm. Having a lifestyle vlog with varied content is fine, if you start with that. As people are just interested in you and you life. Where as people that just wanted to know about makeup may not care. Personally I would start a new channel and build a new loyal audience. You’ll get far more pleasure out of 100 engaged subscribers than you will out of a silent 5000. Move on a dead channel is just a vanity metric holding you back.

    I've recently noticed I could be pretty close to hitting the monetisation requirements on this channel after thinking about starting another channel about something much more wholesome. This channel does not really pass muster for the monetisation policies so I'm actually starting to think seriously of just rebranding this channel, as it has had some steady growth over the last 2 years. I had like, 120 subs when I posted my last video. I'm wondering if I shouldn't continue my current platform until I hit my mark and then rebrand after I hit the requirements... Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions for me? I'd really appreciate it.

    Great video! I'm currently asking myself all of these questions about my travel channel. It has a decent amount of subscribers, but they mainly joined to watch videos about one specific destination. Content from any other place leads to way less views from my subscribers and even people unsubscribing every time I upload. I mainly targeted search traffic to build the audience. It's tricky because if I started a new channel, it would still technically be in the travel niche - BUT less about specific locations and more about fun/clickable concepts. Do you think this is a good enough reason to start fresh? Interested to hear your thoughts!

But I am still grappling with starting a whole new channel… I was sure that I wanted to do that at first because I thought it would be better for brand deals in the future… Can you talk about brand deals and it possibly not having everything to do with your channel if I stick to my same channel and dilute it a bit I’m concerned about possible brand deals I would like for health content only type stuff. Can you help with this?

  • @channelprofits

    @channelprofits

    if it's only a slight rebrand then should be fine. Only you can fully answer that. i would say it's premature to be thinking about sponsorship deals. They will come as you get bigger. just get more focused with your channel and the goal you want for viewers. the more targeted you get the easier things will become.

    @@channelprofitsok thank you so much! I thought of the idea of possibly asking people if they would be interested in the new content because I don’t want my videos to just weigh the channel down and not allow it to grow if no one is watching them and then like you said, they don’t go out to other people then if most of my channel members aren’t really watching… So I just thought of asking everyone if they preferred to have health stuff mixed in with this very specific niche that I have going already… And now that I think of it, it is kind of different because one is about metaphysical stuff, and time etc. how the mind works, thought transmission and then the other topics are about health… I think they’re related, but a lot of people might not… I don’t know if you have any more ideas just from knowing that now but anyway If not thank you ❤

Now I am more certain of my niche, I have a few videos from my old channel that are relevant and had less than 200 views but the retention is good though ctr is average 8% (Kids channel) . I have experience both trying to rebranding my main channel and starting a new one 3 years ago. I prepared the new channel's content strategy in advance, scheduled 8 videos in the first month, each had a short outro promoting the following upload. That channel brought in more views than my main channel, grew over 5K subscribers and got monetized within 4 months even after I only uploaded 2-3 times a month moving forward. Additionally, I posted an announcement video on my main channel which helped me carry over the few subscribers who were interested in the new topic. This was back when you needed 1000 subscribers and 4000 watch hours. On the other hand, my decade old main channel has been a struggle to rebrand. The new videos are doing okay, but still not overtaking old content posted about my previous niche (beauty and makeup) which I have little interest in now. As you mentioned in the video, KZread has already determined the target audience for this channel and that's what's making it difficult to pivot. Remembering the fast success of the previous second channel has me considering starting from scratch in 2024. Obviously, I don't need to delete an old channel to start a new one, I can maintain it uploading 2-3 videos a month during this transition or take a break. A new channel is a lot of work upfront, but it is obvious KZread has an easier time serving its content to the right audience from the beginning. It's still a hard choice to make.

Instead of saying its a new podcast with 0 followers, I can say its a podcast with 769 subs. Thats something at least. Sounds more like a strategy issue, rather than a guest or content issue. Ask yourself who your content is for? If they have the attention span to watch long form content? What they want from watching your channel and what the goal and target audience of your channel are? E.g. if I have a finance podcast then it's probably going to be about making money and a more male focused audience. You probably want to go deeper than that, but you get my point.

    bringing back a dead channel can take just as long as starting and growing a new one. but if the channel is big enough then you get the added benefit later. Though if you are also changing niche then that will work against you even more. Subscribers are just a vanity metric these days, it's views and relevancy that matters.

    Hi Andrei. If you had to hide the videos as they are completely different, then you have your answer. You need to start a new channel. Those subscribers aren't going to be interested and they will only hold you back, making growth more difficult. getting 1k views on videos as a small channel is good, you only need one of those to go viral for a channel to explode. Don't keep changing niche, focus on improving watch time and CTA. At some point the breakthrough will happen.

    Well you could remove the music videos and create a separate music channel that you link to the old channel for people that are interested. If you like doing both, then do both. If you want to leave the music videos on the old channel you can still make small changes and add them to the new channel, if the music is yours and original then this is not an issue.

    Thank you for the video. Yes, indeed, for the good quality of this simple video you should have more comments indeed. Do you think it was because you re-brand? I found you via search. I enjoyed the video because i am wondering the same thing. I have a very old channel with about 900 subs which i have quite an emotional attachment. It has my old videos, it has my comments and participation on the platforn, and just the account date is like a badge for me. Because i have been sayinh that i want to create content since then. But now, im older, i wanna do something different and i know a new channel would be easier on the algorithm, but i dont want to leave the old channel like that, throw it away and start from a blank page. Its like an old cozy and warm traditional grandma house (old channel) vs the new active and moving city apartment life(new blank channel). Im still thinking what to do.

  • @channelprofits

    @channelprofits

    Hi Núria. Well you aren't throwing it away. The channel and videos will remain. You can always link the old channel to the new one if it's relevant. If your old channel is relevant then keep going with it. if you are willing to take longer to switch the old channel to a new audience then keep going. otherwise start a new one. if the old channel is dead then no one is watching your content anyways. it's not about the content, but the people on the other end of it. KZread is a social media platform after all. Good luck with your decision :)

    it takes time to bring a dead channel back. probably just as long as starting a new one of that size. If it gets good views on the new videos then great. But if they get low watch time and CTR. Then you may just want to start again. Subs don't mean much anymore it's views and momentum that matter.

    Hi there, in 2021, I was making content based off of another content creator (but with my own concepts) in my country and my channel started to explode in under a month, giving me almost 750 subscribers and 11k views, the channel was just started and the audience was exactly who i was targeted back then. But suddenly and unluckily, Due to parents forcing me to stop yt because of some annoying exams, I had to ghost the channel as soon as it started taking off. And its been 2 years now since i ghosted the channel, but i restarted it now as im alone and separate from my Parents now. I changed my niche off of the previous one. and have some better new video concepts of that separate niche. I uploaded about 4 vidoes for the past 1 and 1/2 weeks now but got only 10 - 50 views (The edit of the videos were good, the intro was catchy and with the experience i got before, i can seriously tell the videos deserved more views and i think the problem was the videos were recommended for a wrong audience (my past audience)). after watching your video, i feel like starting a new channel, but what's your ultimate advice on my decision? And I would like to ask whether I can reupload the new 4 videos on the old channel, back on the new channel that im going to create (Obviously im gonna put all of my old videos on my channel private).
