0 to 60 is not as important as it used to be, the limiting factor is now only traction not power, in the 90s / 00s / 2010s this was not the case. More important are the 62 to 124 times imo.

@@anyexpat Have to 100% disagree with that statement, 0-60 is the only thing most consumers pay attention to especially out here in the US the two questions I got from customers looking for a performance car when I worked at a Mercedes was, “How much horsepower does it have” and “whats the 0-60” as far as car analytics and on track performance consumers dont care because a large majority are never going to even visit a race track its all about who’s car has more power and who’s car is quicker off the line its sad but its true

I recently got a run in one of these, they are insanely quick. As Matt says it’s almost too fast for a road car. The acceleration, grip and brutal gear changes are mind boggling.

I love this Mr David , I love his strategies and method, I was able to withdraw $13,500 in a week. There's more to the system than the eye sees sometines. Sometimes this video don't really help as they end up confusing you more. When I came across Mr David the confusion ended.

Great review Matt 👍 I have a 2019 F90 M5 (non-comp) and I picked that over a comp car because it’s slightly softer on UK roads and I’m not a driving god and it is without doubt still an absolutely epic car. I’m not sure what the 0-60 of the ‘normal M5’ is but it’s quick. I saved £27,000 off list and it’s s fully loaded with the adaptive cruise, massage seats, better lights etc etc. The LCi is no doubt a great car and probably a better car than mine but the pre-facelift is also epic and now a lot cheaper than a new M5 comp. If I were to be buying again - a) you can only get the comp car, you don’t have the choice of a normal softer car b) don’t buy a new one, get either a pre-reg new non-LCi or a used pre-facelift with low mileage. Regardless of the fact it’s no sports car, it’s still exciting to drive, I love the sound for the sports exhaust makes in Sports+ and handles very well for a 2T barge!

I have worked with/for BMW for 34 years and I’m currently the service test driver for the dealer I’ve worked for (27 years here) . I have driven thousands of BMW’s over the years and I can say this man is spot on about the 550 being all you need for the street. No one really needs an M car for the street but they are a helluva lot of fun to drive!!!! And yes the 550 is more comfortable to drive especially on long trips.

Love the horizontal dash lay out. I thought they were going the center console route after seeing the m8.

I drove the M5 Competition at a BMW track day last summer, and it was impressively good. We kept on the safety nannies but it was quite easy for an amateur to get it up to 130 on the straight and then brake quickly to enter the corners and chicanes without losing control. The acceleration and braking performance is outstanding. We didn’t get to drive it on the street but I believe that it would not be as smooth and comfortable on rougher roads as my daily driver 540. The customers for this class of car will have more than one car, undoubtedly, so daily driving comfort should not be a consideration.

@@santiagoperez2094 Nah it is a brilliant car but I think it takes itself too serious. A family sedan should always have some comfort, but this M5 is just too much. And no one needs more than the M550i it is already a seriously fast sedan and saving yourself 30k. The gap between the M550i and the M5 is too small that is why he recommends the M550i over the M5.

Hey Matt. How about an offroad challenge review with some imported large work pick ups? Toyota Tundra. Nissan Titan. F150. Dodge Ram. Chevy Silverado. They are becoming reasonably common on UK roads now.

This 3, 5 and 8 series are great looking cars. Then there’s the 1, 4, 7, X7 and most M cars which just look hideous.

It’s starting to grow me, ever so slightly, but still not a big fan. But, I’m going to see the new M3 / M4 next week, so I’ll finally be able to make my mind up.

@@markoobradovic1825 Agreed, black out the grille, get it in that beautiful Isle of Man Green if you can and you’re sorted. I think the big grille suits the M3 and M4 a lot better than the standard 4 series, because it doesn’t have the chrome bits around and within it.

On my 2017 Bmw with automatic tailgate, I can hold the tailgate button to close it. Pretty sure you can do the same here?

M5 will be faster. does it matter whether its by 0.1 second or 1 second. lets not kid ourselves, people will buy these cars for the flex (they're both jack of all traders, masters...) . The M5 is so much more desirable, its worth the extra 30k for the fruits that come with that alone.

Hey Matt! From memory, you ought to be able to close the boot with the key by holding the boot button until it clicks shut. If you let go of the button before that, the boot will stop closing. Hope this helps someone! 👌🏻 Declan @ BMW

@@dragospahontu that car is in a very niche market. N/A V8 engine, RWD and class leading luxury interior (Apart from the appalling infotainment system). Its too rare and hard to acquire

thats not the first time. he also gave it to the ford mondeo vignale (saying to buy a mondeo with titanium package instead) and also to the hyundai kona (he got a lot of shit for it, lots of dislikes on that video and also comments are nasty).

Great review Matt thanks. But I wonder whether you can properly use this car in the UK or not? In my country speeding is not a big deal, we got ticketed rarely, but there it must be very difficult. Thus, I wonder the point of paying a 100k for a car like this. I mean so few people will notice the difference a regular 5 series... I dunno, just a question :)

Definitely depends on the country. I guess where I live in Canada, you could probably use this car very well because the roads are bigger and easier to make turns, but can't really use it as it was intended to as a true M car because of a lotta police. Whereas in Germany on the Autobahn, the M5 would dominate.

Mega car. You did forget to mention the new cluster in front of you though lol!

I wish they’d make a Touring version of this too. That would be quite a car.

Hey Mat, enjoyed the review. Would love for you to review BMW's new 545e to see whether you're actually sacrificing anything - and if so, how much - by going for one of these, rather than a petrol equivalent, say the awesome m550i for example. BTW you totally look and act like one of my mates - makes me chuckle every time I watch a review.
