Ironically, I just sat on the R12 2 hours ago. I've ridden all but the R12, and even owned a Scout. As a shorter rider (5'5" with 29" inseam) I think other shorter riders won't care for the ergonomics of the R12. The seat and frame are quite wide at the stand-over point and the seat digs into my thighs. The width results in my heals being 1.5" off the ground. No flat footing this bike. I can flat foot the other 3 bikes. I would also say the R12 doesn't carry its weight as well as the other 3 bikes. The R12 feels heavier. Also, the upswept exhaust design on the left side of the R12 means no luggage on that side of the bike - very strange design. Also strange is the lack of a fuel gauge. My initial enthusiasm for the R12 has waned before even riding the bike.

I have owned the Indian Scout Bobber and I own the Triumph Bobber as well. Both are wonderful bikes...loud and visually appealing. I would say, though, that the Triumph handles much better than the Indian and is a bit less stretched out - thus feeling more balanced. The Indian is a rough bike (literally...it is very rough feeling on the road any my spine agrees), but cool factor is extremely high. Though I do love them both, I would choose the Triumph overall above the Indian. Just my two cents!

@Motobob: Thank you for this video! How are "heritage" motorcycles doing saleswise in the UK? I"m asking because in the German 2023 top50 sales the only "heritage" models are the 900 RS and the CB 650 R (which is extremely popular and holds 10th place, CBR 650 R is 13th). In fact there are no motorcycles from Royal Enfield, Triumph, HD or Indian at all to be found in the '23 top50. At the same time the Rebel 500 takes the 5th place 😅 This was different only a few years ago: The RnineT and the 48 were THE hipster bikes and held top20 spots year after year. 883 and Street Bob always top30, here and there a 650 from RE and a Triumph. So I'm curious if the new models can pull it off and turn things around. Obviously checkered flag for the café racers, now it's bobber time! The Shotgun. And every Chinese manufacturer has at least one bobber in the lineup. In terms of success I feel the R12 might have the biggest potential of the bunch. In my perception black and a stripped down look suits the bike the most. The dual tone colour shemes makes the bike look a bit old fashioned in my eyes. But - fair enough - I can see many buyers bling bling this thing up or modify it. The potential for individualiisation is huge. With the Scouts you choose from 5 different models and go from there. With the Triumph Bobber it is what it is basically.

Scout Bobber or Sport Scout? I wonder why the batwing fairing isn't an option for an add-on for Sport Scout or Chief but can option it for Scout Bobber. New rider looking to get one ordered as an reward to myself after i lose a lot of weight. 181lbs lost is the goal in under 1 year. Strict mostly water fast will be how i get there. Will take vitamins, but to avoid the nausea of taking them on an empty stomach, I will eat 1 small piece of candy with the vitamin daily. 316 days by my calculations will be needed to complete the goal.

For me, it's between the BM and the Indian, but I wouldn't see much point in owning a second boxer engine, so realistically it would be the Indian. However, I'd have to ditch those awful, long wheelbarrow exhausts, to replace them with shorter slash cuts, like on the Triumph.

  • @chrisjonesbath

Whatever it is, the R12 isn't a cruiser. It looks too much like a parts bin special to me, even the R1200C had a better cruiser vibe about it. I'm sure it rides great, which for some might be all that is needed, but the Triumph and Indian have the right spin on the cruiser concept. The Harley looks OKish from one side and beyond awful from the other and looks count for a lot.

The Indian will destroy the new Harley, v twin engine that has soul and character, the Harley is full of plastic and has a very small tank underneath the seat, the battery is buried behind the radiator and maintenance is not easy, the Indian is better built and is everything we wanted the Harley to be with the previous generation evolution engine which they could of done just like Indian. BMW will appeal to people who want a more modern kind of cruising and Enfield will grab the entry level cost effective 650 with the gap left by the Yamaha vstar and bolt discontinued. This big question is who will continue with this line of bikes? As an owner of a Harley 883 Iron 2017 i plan to return to a smaller more cost effective diverse bike the Triumph x400 the KTM 390 Adventure and the BMW 310 GS
