As a matter of interest VW have recently passed the landmark of producing 200,000 Californias and I am pretty sure that if you asked the customers that have spent their hard earned money on them they would say that they own a Campervan not a car, and VW themselves describe them as campervans as do Wikipedia. There are many different segments to the motorhome and campervan market and where you say that for €81,000 you can buy a “proper vehicle” it s not going to be much use to you if you want to keep it in your garage or visit height restricted car parks or use it as your daily driver. I know that you Alan live in your van but the number of “liveaboards” is a tiny, tiny percentage of the market and really it would be better if your reviews looked at the vehicles from the point of view of the people who they are likely to be purchased by.

One could even argue that having a toilet and shower in their campervan is just a waste of space (unless you really are planning on going to areas where there are no 'proper' camping sites).

Our caravan is 3 yrs old now. We use it very intensively all year around, we've done 3 more than 3000 km road trips in Europe, spent 2-3 weeks long holidays several times by the sea or many 2-3 days long weekends in different campsites/cities, but we have never used the toilet once. It is reassuring that there is a toilet in the caravan, but it is only for emergencies. So we can say that the entire shower/toilet is just wasted space. That's why I do not understand why Alan is always looking for the toilet. Europe is full with stellplatz, campings and good parking locations, where you can find 0-24 toilet/washing facilities on site.

Alan reviews vehicles from his own perspective and he's unique. I've had a poptop t6 with no facilities and managed fine with a family of four. I love Alan's reviews and just make allowances for different opinions 👌

To me, the Sven Hedin seems to be the most sensible option. Can the pop up be closed manually? My biggest concern about pop outs is the possibility that they get stuck in the open position.

The weatfalia campervan here in America for 2024 is on the dodge promaster van with or without the pop top and it has a wetbath in it too

A funny presentation… Thank you very much! Nice cars for max. 4 persons. It‘s pitty. There is no van in extralong with a roof tent and 6 seats. No solution for more than 4 person …

Glad you enjoyed it Eduard! For more than four, one needs a bigger vehicle, Westafalia do not have it but there are plenty of companies that do!

Thanks for viewing these tin cans as I say, just proofs that these are not for me 1.91cm tall. But I understand some smaller people may fancy these! Lack of space of your personal things amazes every time, maybe these are for weekend use only? Fridge in a loo! I know that is a total NO NO for someone! But kind of handy as you say! 🤣

There will be a new Transporter in joint production with the Ford Transit. And there will be a car-based Multivan. Both will make a good base for a camper conversion.

Whats the point of this if you only show the inside for about 10% of the campers. I understand people are standing in line but then just go in line and at least we can see the inside.
