The embellishment I heard on Pasties aboard a boat is that as they were designed for Cornish tin miners, they obviously were meant to be eaten below the surface level - not a good idea when at sea! Fishcakes looked great cooked in a neat looking man cave! Happy NY & tight lines in '24 👍

Another class video Rob. And I see you tend towards using the lighter tackle, at least to begin with - I am with you on that one, as it fits well with the sort of fishing opportunies I am generally offered, as I fish mainly in the Solent area from my boat. Keep the good content coming in 2024 - we love it!

I am quietly amazed your engine didn’t fall off or fuel turn to diesel. Just take it as a given. Pasties are fine ashore but have absolutely no place on a boat. Nice film and a learning experience in marine dietary requirements. Better luck next year.

I am really enjoying your videos, currently watching the Cornish pasty one 🤔. Each time I watch you steam down your river I worry that one day you might catch your head on sharp panel directly in front of you. I guess it must be a solar panel. Please forgive my negativity like I said love your videos please keep them coming and stay safe.

Thanks Barry, I know what you mean but it is just the camera angle. It’s not as sharp as it looks and you’re right, it is a Perspex sheet that holds a solar panel (on the boat when I bought it). I’m not tall enough to hit my head on it but I do carry a sized piece of pipe lagging which goes on if my son is the driving seat. Tight lines 👍

A nice video well put together , I tried fish cakes with big pouting that had blown wrecking , never again the bones were a nightmare .......tight lines for 2024 😊 .

I know some people take a fillet off a big pout but there are definitely tastier fish in the sea! Tight lines mate 👍👍

Good to see you found a window in the weather to get out and a nice Pollock. I have a Warrior 170 at Plymouth and use Windy app before driving down but often find the sea out of the Sound is too rough to get out to the wrecks etc. Is it just your experience to know when the conditions will be right / safe to go fishing or is there any guidance you can give on how I can tell how choppy the sea state will be ? Thanks for your all your videos which have been very helpful. Tight lines for 2024

Mate, the great thing about places like Plymouth is that you know you always have a sheltered spot to run to and get your boat back safely on its mooring or trailer if the conditions are not as you expected. I just use the BBC, inshore waters forecast, the shipping forecast and the synoptic chart. All of these just give you an idea of whether you should give it a go then, for me, it’s just about being flexible about what you can achieve in the conditions that you actually find. It’s sometimes frustrating but there will always be another day. There are also some great spots in Plymouth Sound if you have to head in early - have you tried the deep pool by Mount Edgecombe? Some good rays and conger in there. Tight lines👍👍

Many thanks for your reply and thoughts. This my first year with the boat at QAB so still trying to find / trying out marks. Of course - it’s an Ugly Stick GX2 12-20lb with a Penn Fathom 2-speed lever drag 15 size. I have a full run down of my kit and some simple tackle examples on this video.
