Fishing with Phil: Ep.3 - Drifting over Wrecks using Slow Jigging and Lure Fishing techniques

Спорт

Join Phil, Liam and Sam as they head offshore to fish deepwater wrecks in search of big fish using slow jigs and lures. Liam explains how he fishes with slow jigs to maximise hit rate and catch more fish whilst drift fishing over a wreck. As the tide picks up, a range of lures are worked on Portland rigs to continue hauling up the fish!
Plenty of fish are caught on a beautiful day off the coast of Cornwall and Phil gets handy with the net again!
In the video we use the all-new Fish Nugz The OG slow jigs to catch some nice Pollack and Ling. Shop Fish Nugz Slow Jigs on the Wild Seas website here: www.wildseasfishing.co.uk/col...

Thanks for the comment! I'm almost convinced that Slow Jigs are just as effective for catching Ling as bait... although it's hard top beat a drifted Mackerel Flapper for the bigger Ling! Keep at it!

Another great video, will definitely be getting some nuqz. How do those penn 6-12 lb rods cope with 10/12oz weights when using portland rigs?

Thanks Adam! The Regiment II Solid Carbon 6-12lb is fine for 10-12oz weights on a Portland. We have used them for fishing baits in deep water with a couple of knots of tide with 1lb leads and they are fine too. They start to feel a little undergunned when chucking down 1.5lb of lead but it is doable. It's a very versatile rod as it's great for fishing the shallows with 3-4oz of lead too.

Another whopper of a video. Some crackers brought aboard. Laim, the black mark on the pollack is uncommon but not massively rare. It's a black pigment, created by the oxidation of iron in the skin of the fish. More vids please. Phil, it's the angle of the dangle and the way you wave your wand!

Cheers for the comments and interesting to know more about the black marking. I have seen it a few times, but it was quite noticeable on this fish. Plenty more videos on the way!

This is the Penn Regiment III Solid Carbon in the 6-12lb rating. Nice and light to work all day yet can haul decent sized fish too! Solid carbon is almost unbreakable so you can really put pressure on big fish with relatively light gear.
