He didnt have a strategy to fight Ace and made a strategy on the fly to beat Ace without killing him. Blackbeard doesnt do secret strategies from what we seen from him. All this he has a secret strategy is straight speculation because sometimes he comes up with a strategy on the fly and sometimes he prepares. As for attaining road poneglyphs you obviously need some type of plan on hoe to attain each poneglyph which has its own protection by whoever is the current holder as well as find someone that can read the poneglyphs like Robin
