I don't think you are in the autism spectrum disorder, looking at your videos it seems that it could be a minority problem? Factors growing up as a minority can be a really exhausting experience, especially dealing with minor prejudices everyday and experiencing racism from time to time through out their lives. These are some of the contributing factors minorities in a society so contrasting have to deal with. This sort of experience can be devastating to brain development.

Growing up poor, I have so much anxiety around money. I tell myself that I cannot be like my parents, but when in reality, poor people are very unlikely to become rich. The US prioritizing renting to already rich slumlords, inflation, privatized healthcare, hyper individualism focusing on everyone purchasing their own lawnmower/car/etc, lack of social safety nets and lack of free third spaces, it is increasingly difficult to climb out the trenches. I don’t know how to invest, I haven’t taken out any loans bc I don’t know what the fine print means, I have no one to look to for these difficult life stages. Im privileged to have had my college paid for by scholarships, but that was because I was poor. There was no family to contribute, but at least I don’t have college debt.

I was gonna find something on KZread, maybe a short online course, that sorta thing, and boom, you're making this. Are you stalking me?? Are you in my head?? Thank you so much for the work you do, this is greatly appreciated!

my uncle [when i was young] he would take me shopping and he would force me to add up all the prices of items that went in the basket & i would have to remember it. when we got to the till and if i was 50p out [either way] he would get me a can of pepsi or something else...but if i was way off, i had to carry two bags of shopping. maybe when you go shopping you can try and turn it into a game or something, either subtracting from how much you have in your pocket / how much you are willing to spend

literally a few hours ago i was wrestling with whether or not i would “allow” myself to go to a coffee shop and draw for a mental health day, because it would cost money i should save. not doing it would make me feel bad but doing it is still making me feel bad and like i failed : ( thank you for sharing this book!!

Thank so much Irene for sharing this!! It means more than you know. I thought It was just me and something was wrong with me that I couldn't get it together. I was literally between tears (It felt good for someone to put into words the struggle I have had most of my life) and laughing. (she was READING me in that book). I felt seen, heard, understood, and validated that I'm not careless, or that it's not that I can't grasp the concept of money. What's out there wasn't made for our brain or thought process. I will definitely be getting her book. Sending lots of Love and Positive energy your way! 🌌❤️

This video and all of your content is so valuable and needed, genuinely thank you so so much for what you do.❤️ I hope you always know what a difference you are making for so many people.

The main thing affecting my finances right now is procrastination in starting my own business. Been procrastinating for years now but I know in my heart I’m on the right path. Do you have a video on how to overcome chronic procrastination? I feel like it’s harder for neurodivergent individuals to overcome procrastination…

I have mild dyslexia! It shows in interesting ways, but one of the clearest was that as a child I loved stories and had a superior spoken and auditory vocabulary, but read and processed written words more slowly than average for my age group, so got frustrated reading, even moreso if I was asked to read aloud. It took me a long time and extra study to pass my Kindergarten reading level. And even today I often read "PULL" backwards through the glass from the "PUSH" side and get confused when the door doesn't open 😂

I read super slowly too... makes the process harder to stick with but it's fun! Not sure if I have dyscalcula, I just find economics very confusing I have OCPD though (with a likely AuDHD combo) and feel terrible any time I do spend money even if it's not a lot. But then again, drinks/coffees are absolutely little things that keep life worthwhile for me. So, if I believe that's important for my mental health, I've started (trying to?) budget for 1-2 a week.

I've been well below the poverty line my entire life, due to being on disability. I can't afford a car, or even a one bedroom apartment anymore, but what little I have leftover, I set aside because I don't know what to do with it. I don't want anything. I'm not interested in anything beyond my special interests. I end up with thousands of dollars set aside, for no reason.

Careful saving too much. If you are on SSI in the USA and they find out that you have more than 2000 dollars they will make you pay back every month's check they gave you when you were over $2000.

Also, to anyone on disability in the USA I would suggest getting on the waiting list for housing especially Sec. 8 housing (you can find your own place to live as long as it is not too expensive and the landlord takes your voucher). You often have to wait years but it is worth it. My finances are so much more stable now.

I also read very slowly (many people read by scanning lines, I need to read each word)! Never heard of dyscalculia but seems I may have it: I always struggled with calculations, even the most basic ones (like 5+3 - I’d probably count 6,7,8 - aha, that’s the answer). The book seems interesting too, thanks for sharing!

Hey I just wanted to check in and thank you for your advice and emotional support type of advice which helps a lot even if I don't struggle with finance that much. I struggle with numbers in math but I have a need to control my money, despite the inattentive adhd I had a surprising good influence with money through upbringing whereas I somewhat learnt it, my sibling is more like my other parent who struggles with it, I'm more like my other parent who keeps a straight check on it.

My first response to fork and soup is that Ill eat the chunks with the fork and just sip the soup from the bowl, I can survive 💀 I am terrible with money cause Im just like "just this once" all the time. If I were to defend myself, I'd say that its because of CoViD so my finance control plummet down. Now its even worse tho cause Im barely cathing up with it (and will now probably have banks chasing me now 😔)

For part 2, can you show us the book inside? Is it layed out in a audhd friendly way. I have to read something like 10 times just to remember what I read. It's really difficult to read and have a full understanding. I have or had like 20k in debt. I don't anymore. It's down to under 3k. So I'm thankful it is that way. But I get impulses to buy all the time.
