the laughing when sad and angry vs crying when happy makes sense to me because they're both emotional release. like i often cry when i'm relieved or when something is very impressive/beautiful/cute to me, so crying for me also is not a thing that's necessarily a sign of being sad. when i'm sad i actually need sth to trigger tears in order to cry

The feral sit 👌👌👌 can only focus if my body is condensed as far as possible 😂 Also laughing can be a stress response! Not just because its funny but because its a way of releasing emotional energy when you're activated but don't have another way of expressing it. Like many tism thing its mostly talked about in regards to children but yeah its like totally a thing. Sometimes it can be because youre like using humor to cope, but sometimes its the energy finding its way out in a safe way which i think is pretty neat I also enjoy humor thats just like bluntly presenting a terrible but common and unavoidable situation esp if its one you feel no one else has had because its like YES THATS IT YOU GET IT and thats both validating and (for some reason) hilarious. Like the psych appointment one

12:30 I was telling someone about how I cried when John Wick got his dog, but wasn't really affected when it died. They were casually like "Jeez, sounds like someone's traumatized.". It kind of surprised me how transparent it is, but yeah, the way I process compassion and grief is definitely trauma-fuckled.

Re the chair squat: Yes! Sitting cross-legged (criss cross applesauce) is my default state. When my hips and/or knees start to get sore I'll try to sit normally (with a footrest to help bring up my knees) and it lasts five minutes maximum. I instantly feel more comfortable sitting like a kid at story time. I'm just gonna edit my original comment instead of making a new comment. Dark humor is so much more healing than other types. It's such a release and relief to be able to make a joke about something really hard and serious. I feel much closer to people that get and make dark humor, it's like acknowledging these deep and intense feelings without actually being super vulnerable. It feels like an important part of the human experience. If trauma, grief, disease, and regret are going to be a part of life, then we need to have the opportunity to smile. It' provides balance. (If whoever reads this likes dark humor and has not seen Willow Pill's talent show performance at the start of Drag Race season 14, it's fucking golden). "My phone could only be in a few places" - Irene. girl HOW?! My ADHD is stronger than my autism and if I'm in the comfort of my own home, there is no telling where my phone could end up.

Way to go getting those 100,000 subscribers! I have about 15 or 20 subscribers. I sometimes have to remind myself that I make videos because I enjoy doing so and sometimes need to get things off my chest either in text or verbally and one of the ways I do that is by posting on my channel. I tell myself that I make my videos and blogs for me, so it doesn't matter if other people see them or not. A lot of times, I get a ton of enjoyment from watching other people's videos and commenting on them. Yours is one of the channels I really enjoy. Both the funny and the serious ones. What a coincidence! My wife is from Oklahoma too. She's from North of the Y'all Line which I say runs through Stillwater. People who grew up South of Stillwater say "Y'all', 'Fixin', and things like that and have a thick accent. Meanwhile, people like my wife rarely say things like that and have a much lighter Southern accent. They talk more like people from Kansas. I'm from Western Nebraska where most people don't have a thick accent and most of us talk like national newscasters and show hosts. You know guys like Johnny Carson, Dick Cavett, Adam DeVine, David Doyle (Charlie from Charlie's Angles), Henry Fonda, Hillary Swank, etc. are from Nebraska. I pick up on accents so easily and can imitate most of the ones I've heard. It's fun! I find accents funny and trying to mimic them even funnier. I find really weird things funny. I find things that most people seem to think are normal to be hilarious. If I was a stand up comedian, my style would be mostly observational humor with a blend of surreal jokes. My two most favorite comedians are Jerry Seinfeld and Steven Wright. This video is pretty funny! Thanks!

Maybe the crying when things make you joyful could stem from a subconscious fear of maybe something taking this joy or not feeling like you can keep it. And laughter at the other stuff is like I can soooo relate plus the layers of wit that often help us see it at another angle. I always appreciate your candidness and breakdown/explanations! Keep doing your thing. ❤

I'm a huge "chair squatter" too. I sit and sleep on the floor well too. 🤔 edit: The angry humor is really relatable too. I think of it satire, dark irony and sarcasm. Sort of sardonic; being amused, but in a bitter, fiery way. My laughter is usually in the form of a nod, a slight smirk, or a singular huff of air, though (and courtesy laughs aren't something I'm competent in, so if I don't find something funny, my only real strategy is diversion).

It’s really hard to have ADHD and autism at the same time. So do I, and I was undiagnosed for decades. My autistic self needs organization and predictability, but my ADHD brain still forgets things, creates disorganization, and doesn’t like rigid schedules. What you describe sounds just like my teen years! The anxiety that comes from knowing you’re forgetting things just makes the memory issues worse-- waiting for someone to get angry/frustrated with you is not a good feeling, and those emotions overload your brain more quickly. I hope you have some support to help you, both with strategies and emotionally. There are some really wonderful autistic content creators who can be helpful, some have ADHD too and talk about both. Personally, I find women’s pov more relatable, like ADHD Love, Zara Beth, older content from Haley Honeymon (not sure on spelling her name rn). Mom on the Spectrum is really good at helping explain autistic sensory needs and how to manage our energy levels, meltdowns and burnouts (she wasn’t diagnosed until after she had kids, so she tries to help other autistic young women find support). Chloe Hayden (from Heartbreak High) has a lot of good videos too, from a few years back, that explain a lot about having both ADHD and autism. You’re dealing with a lot💜 Try to be kind to yourself, okay?🥰

However, I don’t know if it is my tism or my adhd, or some collaboration between the two, but sometimes I go on ‘auto-pilot’ and put something down is a very atypical spot, then I panic. Andrew Huberman I think is an oversold (my opinion) neuroscientist from Stanford, and he explained how dopamine works to keep us moving forward. As he explained it, you don't want to have big celebrations, or ever think "I've made it", because that shuts down your dopamine production, and you become depressed. This happened to me by the way, actually after I graduated college.. You said you just anticipated the 100k benchmark, but really didn't think of it as an endpoint. No big celebration - just on to the next project. You are doing exactly what he would tell people to do to keep motivated, pretty cool you just seem to intuitively understand that! Those of us with the gift of hyperfocus, work that way because there is no endpoint!! Only jobs make you have endpoints. They call them deadlines, and they are called that because, you know, you might die trying to meet them, especially if you have PDA....

Paradoxical laughter is laughing at inappropriate times whereas the pseudobulbar affect is uncontrollable laughing and crying outta the blue

Hey congrats on the plaque 🎉 I too tend to laugh at sad and angry stuff, and that makes me even more mad which makes me even more giggly😔😂. Or sometimes, when I hear songs that are super sappy played over and over again, I just add my own dumb lyrics and now every time I sing it in my head, I’m always hearing my own edited version 😂, I do this with Beyoncé, Adele, Ed Sheeren and some of J. Cole’s songs. My mind would get me into so much trouble if people caught what happens in there 🤭. Anywho, great video, got a few laughs out of it 👌🏾 Congrats, again. I like how subtle you are about it ❤

I love the song editing LOL I do it so much I have my own version of every popular song I can remember ESPECIALLY for my cats!!! “Throw that Tobi in a turkle” is for when my cat Tobi sits in a circular shaped object 😆 turkle is circle but with a T for alliteration 🤣

I only cry when I'm overwhelmed! When I'm sad or angry I dissociate. I really only laugh when I want to make other people comfortable or when I'm talking to myself. I think outward expressions like that (or lack thereof) are mostly done out of a need to translate messier feelings into more digestible actions so that they can act as symptoms or communicators rather than the vast webs of intricate and overlapping emotion dynamics that we are familiar with; a need to regulate oneself and others simultaneously so that the two can coexist compatibly.

I gotta be honest... I keep coming back to this video, and I don't think anyone would mind if you started a "giggle time" series for the channel (because so many people just need a laugh) and I think it would probably become something people would look forward to. I know I would love that to look forward to at the end of the day.
