Hearing the intro music again after so long brings me back. This was my favorite of the NES games and still remains one of my favorites. A true timeless masterpiece, anyone wanting to design a platformer or just experience an amazing game should play this.

Absolutely. It sounds peaceful then becomes incredibly sad and melancholic when the NESplosions start ravaging the city. This was actually my first MM game, and one of the hardest.

The music that plays at the end of this game brings an all embracing feeling of satisfaction.

For some reason, to this day, this is my favorite Mega Man game, and don't know why.

2020? My sweet childhood. My favorite Ost songs are Dust and Skull Man. Sweet nostalgia.

You know a great detail about this game? When you get to Cossack's castle, all of the castle bosses are very lifeless and mechanical. Most of them don't even have faces and just have blinking lights, and even the first one that does have a face still looks very alien and bug-like. Then you get to Wily's castle, and all four bosses have big round cartoony eyes and faces. I love how they gave the two doctors unique styles for designing their machines, with Cossack favoring function over all else while Wily designs them with character and personality.

Hu, Toadman's weakness is drill missile? I always thought Toadsman's weakness was being Toadman.

Megaman 4 is my first robot game I'd play in the age of 9, defeats all (8)-Evil robots of Skull, Dive, Todd, Ring, Dust, Bright, and Pharaoh in the 1st stage, and then stuck at Dr. Wily's Castle in the 2nd stage.

MM4 has my favorite storyline in the series. I thought Dr. Cossack, his daughter,Kalinka, and his robots were a good idea. P.S. Dr. Cossack built some interesting bosses to guard his castle.

I think Mega Man 4 is when Mega Man’s popularity peaked in the gaming world. He had become a gaming celebrity. 2 and 3 were build up. 5 and 6 were downhill.

I liked MM5 almost as much as MM4, but it was definitely just MM4's plot recycled. (Great music on the Protoman Castle, though) I liked MM6, too, but I was kinda tired of the whole thing by the time it came out. It's the only one of the NES games I didn't buy, only rent. (I still liked it better than MM3, which always felt unpolished and even a bit unfinished to me. Re-fighting the MM2 robot masters was a cool feature, but those stages felt like filler and all of the Wily bosses were underwhelming and anti-climactic)

Back when games were still challenging.

This whole series is a classic I thouroughly enjoyed it

I like that this game ends where it started, with Megaman on top of a train

Even after all these years, the sound effects impress me immensely.

This game kick my butt more then I can remember

I remember my older brother playing this in the middle of the night on a school night when we weren't allowed to play video games. He had the sound turned all the way down, of course, and if our dad came in he turned off the TV quick as a flash and covered the console. He still got caught though.

When I was a kid, I liked this MM, but I think that’s because I hadn’t grasped the concept of utilizing the various weapons. The mega buster was so strong that you really didn’t need the other weapons as much anymore.

Really? I found that the other weapons were really good in this one (especially Pharaoh Shot.) It’s 5 and 6 where I feel that the buster is the most powerful.

@@amso7169 well, that was mostly my perspective as a kid. I feel differently about it now. I like the challenge and puzzle of unlocking which weapons work against certain enemies. It’s part of the fun.

I first played it when i was 10 and i still love it

Mega Man has a Charge Shot (Side Smash) to shoot enemies and it was a powerful smash attack in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii u. The special weapon he used is the Skull Barrier (Custom Down Special)

The music in 3 and 4 were the best.

I really like ring man and bright man Dive man has best theme

Most long players are decent but not great. This guy is really good. Mega Man is one of the few games I'm actually good at and this guy is way way better than I am.

Thats incorrect. These bosses were chosen by the japanese fans of the game. In the 8 bit megaman games, only the first game had bosses by the developers, the other games had a mail-in art contest for the bosses of the next game. Sadly, this was japan only until megaman 10 or something like that. or so i heard

This is probably the most solid mega man game on the NES. But I think 3 and 6 is better, but this is still good.

I'm so glad MontyMole isn't one of those players who constantly keeps their Mega Buster charged even when there's nothing around....that can get rather irritating after....20 seconds.

Rejected Mega Man bosses: Lawyer Man with Paperwork Shield, Wo-Man with Nagging Blaster, and Pusher Man with Bad Trip Freeze

Overall this was a great game to play for the difficulty but the final boss was a letdown once you complete it. Nice longplay of this.

So same strategy at 46:09 with dr.willy ship, use drill man. But why If I use my drill man, the ship is invulnerable and the drill bullet just bounces away. Frustrating my megaman4 4 is bugged.

In this game, there's no reason to keep the mega buster uncharged. Then why did the developers think it's a good idea for having to hold down the fire button to charge this weapon while keeping one of the sound channels occupied at the same time?

I felt like the boss at this as a child..I was wrong
