Thanks for your professional opinion!!! I LOVE my NEOECO!!!! I'm just starting out with airbrushing. All I had prior was the airbrush that came with my air compressor. I thought it kinda performed ok, for what I was doing. but it did not perform very well. Then after watching alot of reviews for Neoeco, I bought one. HOLY COW!!!!! night and day difference!!!! Ive been using it for all my models and enjoy painting with it!! For what I'm doing, I see no need to upgrade to anything else. This is perfect!!! I'm thankfull somebody like Neoeco can produce something like this and make it affordable! Its awesome!!!

The cutout in the back, which allows you access to the needle retention screw, does have a use other than disassembly. If you're nozzle is showing signs of starting to clog while spraying, you can grab the needle screw via the cutaway, pull back on it, which withdraws the needle, and then release it, allowing it to snap back forward. This can sometimes clear the problem. Some people like it. Some don't.

Nice review. I purchased this airbrush a few months ago and I am quite pleased with this airbrush. Changing needles and nozzles is so easy.

I think it is clear that cheap doesn't mean rubbish these days. In fact I'm struggling to see why I (in my current state of ability and skill) would bother spending over £100 for an airbrush. If I ever got to the skill levels of the likes of Plasmo, then maybe but even then I do wonder about the actual difference. I think skill has to be my lead on equipment purchases, and my skills are firmly in the budget end of airbrushes and I have no issue with that!!!

Excellent review, I have had one of these for a while from AliExpress and I find it more forgiving than my Iwata unit... 😀

I have been using this the last few weeks and it's a great airbrush. Mixing paints is the true art in consistency , picking good paints also . This brush offers budget and is friendly for beginners.

Thanks for this review Gary. It's clear that some of these budget airbrushes are so much better than their ultra cheap forebears from about 10 years ago when I got back into the hobby after a 30 year break. Rubber seals and O-rings didn't last long, poor quality needles meant that paint would often adhere to the imperfect polishing and cheap metals meant that they were fragile. The needles did come in handy later for manoeuvring decals into place and getting rid of air bubbles though. 🤣 I use two airbrushes now - a H&S Evo 0.2mm and a Sparmax SP35 (.35mm). The Sparmax in particular doesn't cost a boat load more than your review sample today - especially when shipping is added - but doesn't come with all the added value extras. If I need another airbrush in future I may go back to check the wallet friendly option first.

Actually, I do have this one problem that I haven't found what I thought would be a great solution for yet. Basically, the Airbrush tip seems to leak out a small amount of liquid (for me, Alcohol). And if you wait a few seconds between pressing the trigger, a splatter will happen. I think it's because the tip is leaking. Anyway, I don't know what caused it to do that. I have an ultrasonic cleaner, so I'm thinking about running it through there, but didn't know if that was safe for an airbrush. Anyway, Thank you for the video! Hopefully I'll find out what's causing that problem, Matthew

I use an ultrasonic cleaner when I do a deep clean of an airbrush, get all the components cleaned up nicely before they go back together. Maybe there is an issue with the seal at the base of the nozzle - might need replacing?

Really must start using mine.....eventually,problem is i dont have a dedicated model building room or garden shed

I would be tempted to use it as a very fine detail brush but I love the Gaahleri brushes I normally use day to day!

Nice job Gary. Especially liked the walkthrough of the cleaning up. Something many evaluations forget to include. Inexpensive doesn't have to mean horrible or junk. Thinking i would buy the chrome cup for them though. I like the idea of the different colors of the handle though, would make it easier to keep straight a pair set with different needles. Really fair price, especially with the MAC Valve. 👍🐢☕

I would say definitely use the chrome cap (supplied) instead of the funky anodised one, I'd much easier to clean modellling paints. Very good price, agreed!

So, how to deep clean an airbrush. Well, I own a motorcycle. That motorcycle has a weird contraption called a carburettor. The carb is almost like a glorified airbrush. It has a cast metal body, moving parts and rubber ‘O’ ring seals. When I need to clean it out due to a buildup of fuel residue, I use carburettor cleaner. Hang on a sec! I wonder if it would work on an airbrush to deep clean it. After all, an airbrush has a metal body, moving parts and rubber ‘O’ ring seals. So I tried. It works an absolute treat. Carburettor cleaner, followed by warm water with a drop of Fairy Liquid and a final flush with just water. Perfectamundo! Job done!

A couple of things: Loved the cleaning tutorial. I actually understand what's what from that tutorial. Next: In every kit build, would you state the needle size and pressure being used, please? Probably good to give dilution info as well. And to end, for those starting out with airbrushing, get some kid's colouring books or those adult stress release colouring books to provide material to practise keeping within the lines. That way you won't mess up the kit you have just spent hours making. And don't forget, the sequence is , push down to start airflow, then pull back to get colour.

I'll try to remember Mark, but realistically I don't always use the same paints with the same airbrushes and compressors as everyone. Generally I keep the pressures at about 20 psi or 1.4 bar. Dilution is on more of a feel thing, I kind of know what fluidity I'm looking for so will add a drop or two extra to a sample of paint before I'm happy so I can't tell you exactly the dilutions, only roughly. Great tip about using the colouring books!

@@garys_stuff I'm wondering if brand of airbrush/paint makes such an almighty difference. My thought is that for each needle/nozzle combination there is an air pressure that gives a starting point. For example, a 0.02 needle might have a lower working pressure than a 0.05 (if I've got the decimals in the right place). One would start at a basic combination, then tweak the pressure settings with the gross pressure setting and the MAC to suit the viscosity of the paint.

​@@markadams5462your comic book/coloring book suggestion is an Epic idea!! Several of the better Airbrush instructors online and YT suggests the similar approach to dialing in the airbrush, especially with the extra step of a MAC Valve. Airbrush Asylum even goes a step further to include the medium your painting onto. The type and base of the paint has as much to do with how it flows and applies as does your altitude and humidity. It's all enough to drive anyone mad, crazy even 😁. Water based acrylics, alcohol based, the new 3rd gen hybrids are all still acrylics that are based in a different carrier medium, and that's what gets many new to airbrushing. Vallejo old, AK old, and AK 3rd Gen all behave very differently until you hit just the right consistency of dilution and will spit splatter and orange peel until you get it just so. Wait 3 days for the humidity to climb in the middle of a rainy weekend and suddenly they're perfect (humidity changing). Add Unicorn tears and you can change the way it lays down consistently and you confuse a beginner all over again. (Yes me again 🤔). Fortunately being born and raised here in Florida, knowing the difference between 80% humidity and 93% near instantly walking outside to let the dawg out, I know NOW how much more to change the dilutions etc. Double air dryer setup feeding my airline was another learned by trial. So many conditions can be figured out especially if we all communicate the details clearly. Isn't this such a fun hobby 😜👍☕🐢

Gary,this is a nice 👌 looking kit. The price is very good 👍.

My guess is that a good job of airbrushing starts with the dilution of the paint. It is probably that it is the atmospheric conditions of your workspace that are critical to getting the dilution correct. Today it is 25 C with 22% humidity at my workbench. The temperature could get up to 30 C and the humidity into the teens. As I write this it is 24C in Miami, Florida with humidity 87% and at Nobottle, Northants, on Saturday it will be 17C with 65% humidity. For the same nozzle size and air pressure setting none of these dilutions will be the same.

@@markadams5462 aircon isn't an issue - the work room has it as does the office, lounge and our bedroom. We are one of those odd households in the UK who can sleep quite comfortably in the summer. It is whether or not the unit does humidity control as well as temperature. I'll have to look it up...

I find that most paints clean out quite easily other than Mr hobby/colour which seems to have a mush higher plastic levels and cakes onto the pot and is much harder to clean off needs a real scrub to get it off

Would it help to use a lint-free wipe soaked in a bit of Mr Thinner? The ones I use are for nail bars and I suspect are a bit rougher in fibre than regular wipes.

Hello mister gary!i could make some first experiences with that revell beginners airbrush,with that cans of pressured butan gas.because i cold not efford an compressor with my 14 years of age.and because of that i allways had the fear of blow up my room with that gas cans.i painted an me 109.and i was very satisfied with the result.with sticky greetings and best regards. 0.5mm nozzle is for primers or varnishes only.

I would say keep it for acrylic paints as I’ve noticed over time using lacquers can degrade the seals quicker compared to the big brands.

That's interesting - I'll keep an eye on that as I may start using more lacquers in the future... I know a couple of the seals are PTFE, probably for that reason.

@@garys_stuff only because I have the fendga from Amazon and I’ve noticed the seal aren’t as robust as my ump apex or h&s and I use lacquer paints 90% of the time. Considering the price airbrushes are getting better at the lower price range. Great starter for a beginner

I am glad you mentioned the preshading work you were doing at the end of your video because there was a fair amount of spatter. What size of needle were you using for that work? It seems to be a good standard budget airbrush, well presented and lots of bits and bobs. I think the quick release air line stuff is really good but I wouldn't be bothered with different pots. To me these dual action airbrushes are for fine work but if you want to spray larger areas I would go for the Hobby Spray guns with the little glass jars. They are about £13 from B&Q. When it comes to airbrushes I would advise people to buy the best they can afford. A few years ago I bought an Iwata and have never looked back.

That was on the 0.3mm needle with Tamiya XF-2 with a few drops of thinner, I think it needed more. For bigger areas or extended use I use my trigger style airbrush.

I now have two racks of paint, one neat for brushing and one thinned for spraying. I now stick almost entirely with Tamiya acrylic for spraying and I have found that a full cap of thinners from the large X 20A thinners container in a full bottle of paint is a pretty good starting point for thinning for spraying.@@garys_stuff

Hot from the hot tap works for me, doesn't need to be boiling. I use one of those insulated coffee mugs to keep it warm in the workshop.

Just a bit of confusion. As stated, this kit comes with three paint resiviores. And yet in the unboxing there where four paint pots. How is this so?

Is this new and has it always been like this? If so, I'd ask the retailer or the manufacturer. There may be an adjustment inside the valve but I don't want to suggest you should take it apart or anything. Ask Neoeco as they will have the answer for you!
