    @@davesmith2262 sounds like the same issue I had to begin with, sounds like an air leak. Using the spanner included in the kit try to tighten up the nozzle housing at the front as much as possible, don't be afraid to put some force into it - if this doesn't work, make sure all of the other gaskets are securely tightened

    Just a thought regarding head-to-head comparison with the same paint at the same pressure based on my experience with a wide range of cheap and not so cheap airbrushes. Every airbrush is different and to get optimal results I find that you must vary paint dilution and air pressure to suit the brush. On that basis, comparing every brush with the same paint and air pressure does not make much sense. I have tried this brush and the only thing I disliked was the anodised paint cup which distorts colours when mixing in the cup and is harder to clean. The chrome cup option, subsequently released since my purchase is a great option. The air speed produced by this brush means it will never match a custom micron for close up detail work but it is a good choice as a general purpose workhorse.

    I have the version released before this one. So far it has been a very good airbrush for the price. I use it to augment my Paasche H airbrush. Good review.

    Having had quite a number of airbrushes - my method of comparison is - take what paint you are using with good results - use the pressure setting you have been using with your favorite brush - get your new brush loaded and spray - If it works without fiddling around it's a winner - if on the other hand you have to start making adjustments - well you can, but if it doesn't improve the performance it's a bummer - I have three neo eco NCT -SJ83 - 0.2 and two 0.3 - and they are performing in a class of their own - if a $25 performs like a $180 brush you have a winner - the only thing I do not like, and it doesn't matter on what brush, rubber gaskets - if the brush needs gaskets then let them be Teflon - soft gaskets may do some good sealing, but they can also be a pain in the butt - and get yourself a self centering assembly, the screw-in type tends to be off and that you can definitely see.

    The coloured cup is the original paint cup issued with the brush. Neoeco responded to some buyers who claim the coloured cup is hard to clean by issuing an alternative chromed cup.

    This really is one of the better made budget airbrushes on the market aside from Gaahleri. The trigger response in this Neoeco SJ83 is on par with Iwata & H&S and doesn't vary. The innovative nozzle design allows this airbrush to do very fine detail with a low air speed of around 4 to 4.5 so you'll get little blow back from the surface you are painting. For $40 I recommend this Airbrush to beginners for sure and Veterans as well. It literally does it all and does it well.

    I have been using a HD-130 airbrush that came with one of those cheap airbrush & compressor sets, even with the atomization and detailing setbacks I feel this seems to still be an upgrade regardless. I have also been eyeing a Tamiya airbrush but that's the absolute limit for price for me so this Neoeco looks rather appetizing. Also would I be able to buy and put in a small 2ml paint cup?

    The same air pressure does not make it a totally fair comparison. Different brushes operate best at different PSI. Fair is to run each brush at it's optimal setting (sweet spot).

    AS a beginner, do you have a recommendation for a compressor?

  • @ModellingWeekly

    @ModellingWeekly

    5 ай бұрын

    In terms of compressors, there's not really a single model of compressor or a manufacturer that you should exclusively go for - it's more about features and capability. You'll want one that has an air tank, allowing for consistent pressure, and it must also have a moisture trap. A pressure regulator is also a must, as this will be crucial in controlling the airflow through your airbrush. Most compressors that have a moisture trap will also have a pressure regulator built into the same part. If the compressor satisfies these requirements, and it's got good reviews, then go for it!

    @@davesmith2262 have you tried just spraying water? If the problem persists, I'd try to first disassemble the whole thing to make sure everything is in tact, and then when you reassemble make sure you tighten up the nozzle housing as tight as possible with the spanner provided - it needs to be super tight to prevent unwanted air bleed :)
