As a kid in the early and mid-70s, siblings and I , were stuck watching this and Hee Haw with the parents Saturday evenings. Mother would make hot and cold snacks midway thru the programs. I gather many families did the same

At eight decades of age now, I still love this song. I remember hearing it as a boy in the 1950s and I've carried it around in my head ever since, I believe I first hear it by Vaughn Monroe. The lyrics are poetry and easily envision the scenes they describe. Oh, so much is lost.

Vaughan Monroe’s was the first version I heard, too. It was released in 1949, but I heard it in the mid ‘50s on some long lost AM radio station. I was 9-10 yrs old. Fantastic!

I've been watching Lawrence Welk on PBS for many years now and I'll be 60 next week, and every time my elderly mother walks in on me watching, she just shakes her head and laughs, reminding me of how her parents used to watch his show. Lol

Recién lo descubrí, un poco tarde😁hermoso tema!!! Me encanta ese sonido logrado con tan pocos instrumentos, una genialidad. Lo compare con otra versión mas moderna pero me quedo con esta . Muy hermosa. Esa guitarra tan espectacular!!!

I never knew LW to play this style of music. LW was all about the Lennon Sisters, Jo Ann Castle playing the piano and Bobby and Sissy dancing. Oops, forgot the guy who played the spoons.
