Neighborhood Stories A Spit Spreads Death Virtual Tour of Brewerytown

How did the influenza pandemic of 1918-19 affect Philadelphia’s neighborhoods?
Join the Mütter Museum and  Hidden City Philadelphia for a virtual tour of Brewerytown in North Philadelphia that focuses on the German American community a century ago. We’ll learn about breweries, factories, rowhouses, and churches as we explore life before, during, and after the influenza pandemic that killed more than 17,500 Philadelphians in 1918-19.
Major support for Spit Spreads Death has been provided by The Pew Center for Arts & Heritage and the Institute of Museum and Library Services, with additional support from the Groff Family Memorial Trust and the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission, a state agency funded by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

I wear my Spit Spreads Death face mask I bought at the museum all the time. I also wear my button I got on my lanyard at work. 🥰

This looks interesting, I'm out of time, I'll save it for later! I'm back, very interesting information on populations and industry. I love maps!

I saw this exhibit fall of 2019, right around when the first rumblings about COVID were beginning. Truly an uncomfortable bit of foresight...

How do I get a job at a place like the Mutter Museum? I have an Anthropology degree, and 13 years teaching experience in English, ESL, History, and Social Studies.
