I recently saw your interview with the other Doughty and all I can think of was "Well, 100 years later and nothing has changed regarding handling pandemics and a lot of dead bodies..." as well as "Spit Spreads Death - Title of 2020".

@@Javajavajav sorry! 100 Years!
My grandmother was 8 years old living in Philadelphia and spoke of the horrors she witnessed at that time. She told me she would look out the window and see some of her neighbors and school friends being taken from their homes wrapped in a sheet. She also said they use to sing this song while jumping rope; “there once was a bird named Enza, when I opened the window, in flew Enza” (influenza). Must have been horrible for them in those days! Thank you for this wonderful presentation! I’ve been to the Mütter museum many times and it never gets old! ♥️

It is weird to think that this is basicly a circle of life where once in a while a massive flue pandemic appears, yet we never learned how to act once on happens. Aspecially as someone who just finished nursing school. I never learned how to work with a outbreak on this scale. Not even an in-house outbreak. And i know for sure, the nurses that are with us in this battle will have a different few on life forever

I saw this in person back during the first week of March 2020. Got me fully aware of COVID-19 danger early.
You have a very calming voice. This was really cool. I love learning about history. When this pandemic is over, I hope to visit the museum one day!
I live in a small North Carolina mountain town and the older cemeteries are loaded with "1918" tombstones--most of them children and carved on whatever flat stone was available.
The first time I ever heard of the mutter museum was on the 1980s TV series Ripleys Believe it or not! hosted by Jack Palance. Finally visited the museum a few years ago. What an amazing place.
Apparently, according to my dad, my great grandmother was the only child in her immediate family to survive the 1918 flu.

Woah, that's wild...that's how you got here. Thanks for sharing. Glad it worked out, lol.
This was excellent. My grandfather was a small town country doctor with a young family during this time. His patients were people he knew well. For me, this video really brought home the tragedy and fear of that time.
I somehow get emotional thinking about someone collecting and gathering newspaper articles after seeing Influenza ravage their city
Healthy, Safe and Disturbingly Informed. That's an amazing sign off. All the best to you and yours!
Thank you for these informative videos. I have always dreamed of visiting this museum and was going to this summer:-(. I have had to put this on hold due to covid-19. But looking at the more profound impacts on these individuals keeps us humble
thank you Miss Dohty. Its kind of chilling that this exhibit opened so shortly before this whole mess of covid19 happened. Beautifully done and very informative of what happened then and the correlation to what is now.
Love your channel! I live in the UK and plan to visit some day. In the meantime I'm loving your virtual visits 💖
Someday I will get visit to your museum... I just hope it’s as a visitor and not as part of an exhibit! ❤️❤️❤️
This was wonderful and heartbreaking. I thank you for shating.
Highly interesting. I enjoyed this..Thank you
I can’t wait until you’re open again!
I went to this exhibit in early February 2020. Thinking this was such a far off concept, I was intrigued with the management and messaging surrounding disease. Little did I know, in a month I would begin living it.
Wow. They had a parade to remember all the people who died from catching a virus from going to a parade....2 months later a whole new pandemic broke out 😐

Hello! My name is Courtney Duffy and I am a teacher in Iowa (currently) and I was hoping you would leave this video up even after you take this exhibit down. Or is there any other way that I can buy a copy when you do take this video down? Thank you so much and I really love the Museum's work!
Great video, but the audio levels are off.
Stay safe everyone!! ❤️
I love hearing her talk! This is pretty much covid is.
The volume in this video is too low.
SPITTING for health is still big in china...even now
Really no need for there to be so much bass in this voiceover lol but good storytelling
They held a parade to honor the 1918 pandemic..................An then pandemic happens a year later.. OOP.
I bet there weren't anti maskers crying about their loss of thier 'freedom' in 1918.

Your cavalier attitude toward life is depressing. I don’t know what all is wrong with you that death seems like an option, but I feel sorry for you. Get some help! Also... Wear a mask, wash your hands, and distance yourself. Not everyone has a death wish. I really do hope you don’t feel it’s okay to infect others and take them with you... 💀

I was really hoping COVID would burn itself out in a couple of years like the Spanish flu but it seems to be gaining momentum. ☹️ People seemed to have more pride in doing what they were told by experts to counteract the pandemic in 1918. Now, at least in the US, there are many who scream about their freedoms (such as the freedom to do whatever they want, not wear a mask in public, not get vaccinated thus infecting others) that actively prevent an end to this madness. Count down to extinction. 🦣

If the government hadn't lied from the start, imposed lock downs and mandates they didn't follow themselves we might have taken them more seriously. Haven't you heard? Biden said it was over.
