Widely regarded as one of the great drummers in modern jazz, Jack DeJohnette has a wide-ranging style that makes him a dynamic sideman and bandleader. He has played with virtually every major jazz figure from the 1960s on, including Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, Ornette Coleman, Sonny Rollins, and Abbey Lincoln. His versatility on the drums is accented by DeJohnette's additional accomplishments as a keyboardist: he studied classical piano for ten years before taking up drums. great Jack DeJohnette, a real jazz icon. not only is he this huge drummer but he has a sensitive understanding of the piano playing as well, which provides him with an even larger vision of the music art. Jack's always been the portrait of a sweet, elegant, thoughtful artist. I love his playing and I especially cherish it in the Standards Trio with Keith Jarrett and Gary Peacock. bless your heart, Jack. thank you for every moment of beauty I've been enjoying through your art.
