"Introducing the Modern Peacock in 1986 and Beyond
As NBC’s network position improved in the late 1980s, the Peacock enjoyed another major reconfiguration. In 1986, designers Ivan Chermayeff and Tom Geismar would design the “Modern Peacock” we know and love today. The “N” was fully dissolved to put the focus solely on a simplified Peacock. The original 11 feathers were brought down to six, each of which represented NBC’s divisions at the time including news, sports, entertainment, television stations, television network, and operations and technical services. The Peacock would also turn its head to the right and the tiny spray of feathers above its head disappeared.
In 1993, seven famous artists, animators, and designers were invited by NBC to play with the logo. Among the seven were David Daniels, Joan Gratz, Al Hirschfeld, John Kricfalusi, Peter Max, Mark Malmberg, and J.J. Sedelmaier. These artists created animated interpretations of the Peacock with on-air spots featured in NBC’s promotional campaign for its 1993/94 fall primetime schedule.
Since 1986, the icon has had two more subtle updates and NBC celebrated their 90th birthday in 2016. At 16-years-old, the Peacock is strong, stylish, and has never been more proud to be the face of its network. As one of the most recognized logos in communications, nothing can ruffle this Peacock’s feathers!" ~ Snippet from Advertising Week 360

I personally love Number 6 because it shows a quick history of NBC.
I loved both John K's Peacocks. Number 3 and the NBC Xylophone Peacock.
3:17 Al Hirschfeld's animation is the best

I love the Old NBC peacock it makes me think of Thanksgiving ( I love watching NBC during Thanksgiving )
I remember watching TV with my family one evening and the John K version appeared. My Mom was laughing so hard she was crying. I was more floored by the fact it was John K's work. "John K! Ren and Stimpy!"
Ren and Stimpy Peacock is the best!

These NBC peacock animated IDs debut in 1993 during the Stars are back on NBC 1993-94 campaign.
0:55 I would literally be traumatized if I saw that as a child
He also appeared at the end of the first "Wonderful World of Color" TV episode, with Walt Disney and Ludwig Von Drake
Al Hirschfeld and John K. are my heroes! Both their peacocks are excellent. :D Hirschfeld also started my friendship with Cherami Leigh, on a familiar Gershwin piece from a very familiar movie. 💖💕❤️

I blame no one for not exactly thinking the highest of John throughout time, but it's hilarious to me that no one seemed disturbed by 0:55 but seemed pretty uneasy about some feathers coming "out of the... peacock's.......... rear end"

Disney made fun of the NBC Peacock. They used the peacock in the Marsupilami episode, "Toucan Always Get What You Want".

What peacock did they chose?
#3 & #4 #5 & #8 are pretty good and decently represents the NBC brand. Most of the rest are too gimmicky.
