NBC Idents History (1926 -1993)
The National Broadcasting Company[a] (NBC) is an American English-language commercial broadcast television and radio network which is owned by Comcast through NBCUniversal. The network is headquartered at 30 Rockefeller Plaza in New York City, with additional major offices near Los Angeles (at 10 Universal City Plaza), and Chicago (at the NBC Tower). Along with ABC and CBS, NBC is one of the traditional "Big Three" American television networks. NBC is sometimes referred to as the "Peacock Network", in reference to its stylized peacock logo, introduced in 1956 to promote the company's innovations in early color broadcasting;[1] it became a part of the network's official emblem in 1979 before being modified to its current form in 1986.
NBC has thirteen owned-and-operated stations and nearly 200 affiliates throughout the United States and its territories, some of which are also available in Canada and Mexico via pay-television providers or in border areas over the air. NBC also maintains brand licensing agreements for international channels in South Korea and Germany.[2]

The three note chime used to ID NBC for decades are the notes G, E, and C for General Electric Company, NBC's first owner.

The first and oldest major broadcast network in the United States, NBC was founded in 1926 by the Radio Corporation of America (RCA), then owned by General Electric (GE), Westinghouse, AT&T Corporation and United Fruit Company.

Actually, the peacock first appeared on NBC in May of 1956 as a static color image. The animated peacock sequence with the gong and the color feathers bunched together then spreading out first appeared in summer of 1957. If this animation had been named the way the Laramie peacock was later named, it would’ve been called the Hit Parade peacock, because it first appeared before that program.
1:45 was used in Star Trek
it wasn't just color, man, it was goddamn LIVING color! the john k one is obviously the best one.

they are interchangeable but comcast is actually the parent company, xfinity is the internet/tv product they offer.
