NBA Legends Explain Why It’s So Hard To Guard Nikola Jokic At 29

NBA Legends Explain Why It’s So Hard To Guard Nikola Jokic At 29
Think about it. Nikola Jokic can do it all. He's a scoring machine, dropping efficient 30-point games. But he's not just a scorer. Oh no, far from it. Jokic is a triple-double threat every time he steps onto the hardwood.
His offensive arsenal is as diverse as it is deadly. From the post to the perimeter, there's no safe space for defenders. And let's not forget his uncanny ability to thread the needle with pinpoint passes. This man sees the game in ways that few others can comprehend. His court vision is unparalleled, his decision-making razor-sharp.
Now, up until last summer, there were whispers in the basketball world. "Is he really that good?" they'd ask. But then, he silenced his critics with a championship victory that cemented his place among the all-time greats.

HEY NOW, IN MY CHURCH LEAGUE FOR 10-12 YER OLDS, I LED MY TEAM TO A CHAMPIONSHIP, WAS #2 IN THE LEAGUE IN SCORING, #1 IN REBOUNDS AND THE ONLY KID WITH A BLOCKED SHOT. YOU NEVER EVEN MADE IT IN MY CHURCH LEAGUE. SO WHAT HAVE I GOT THAT YOU AIN'T GOT? yeah, and i got zero votes for mvp. STAY HUMBLE. YOU MAY WIND UP THE GOAT. YOU WON 4 MVPS IN 3 YEARS. THAT'S A FIRST. BUT AS MUCH AS YOU DO ON COURT, IT'S AS MUCH WHAT YOU DO OFF COURT THAT MAKE YOU MY FAVORITE. FAMILY IS ABOVE B BALL. YOU'RE NOT A SHOW OFF, YOUR GAME SPEAKS FOR IT'S SELF. I'M NOT HERE TO PLEASE. I SHARE THIS TRUTH. NO DOUBT THE MOST INCREDIBLE THING YOU WILL EVER HEAR. BE COOL AND BE BLESSED. PEACE. I am writing to share the most incredible thing you will likely ever hear, and it has everything to do with your position if you will follow it. First, it is impossible that anything you can touch, taste, hear, see or smell on the face of the earth, be it lighting, tornados, rocks, life, minerals from salt to plutonium or anything that can be with the powerful telescope we have in orbit and beyond what we can see, that could possibly exist without having been created. Because of this, we can be sure that everything that is had to be made where there was absolutely nothing to make it out of. I call it atheism's last stand. Romans 1:20 New International For since creation of the world God's invisible qualities--his eternal power and divine nature--have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. So you see, there is a God. I myself have studied world religions in depth in college and much more so on my own time. I have found that the only religion that holds water is Christianity. I am no affiliate of any Christian denomination as they are called because the enemy has a very well received counterfeit in place in nearly all of them, and the condition is terminal. I am Messianic, where I find Truth to be most rightly applied and followed. The bill of rights we share is such a blessing. But I will quote TobyMcKeehan with Times are changing/With morals in decay/Human rights have made the wrong okay. I am only showing you the way as I have found it through much study and life experience. Perhaps my best case for Truth of this is found in the book of Habakkuk 1-2:17 where he was given a vision of Adolf Hitler and Nazi Germany. Some very strong and interesting proof is in the discovery of Sodom and Gomorrah. This is in these videos. Pt. 1 kzread.info/dash/bejne/YoWnybtqYZirdsY.html Pt. 2 kzread.info/dash/bejne/aqSgypaHfdK3o5s.html And here is where the remains of pharaoh's army is found in the red sea. kzread.info/dash/bejne/imeC16OkiLjdpZM.html Gnesis 19:24 New International Version Then the LORD rained down burning sulfur on Sodom and Gomorrah--from the LORD out of the heavens. Brimstone found there is over 95 percent pure. The purest sulfur anywhere else is just over 45% and is found near active geothermal regions. Brimstone such as is found near these two infamous cities is found nowhere else on earth. Yet here it is still, a God-given supernatural element to warn those who would live against Him. 2 Peter 2:6 If He condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to destruction, reducing them to ashes as an example of what is coming on the ungodly; He is love or He wouldn't have warned us.After much consideration I found truth best taught and followed as a Messianic. It's not about being "delusional". There are basketball purists, i call them "GMs" - and there are spectators. If I would want to assemble a team that WINS as many games as possible, I'd take prime Curry, Jordan, Durant, Duncan and Olajuwon. If I wanna see the most amazing basketball game, I'd select prime Iverson, Jordan, James or Wilkins, Kemp or Griffin, and O'Neal. You don't have to select the same guys, but you know what I mean. Duncan (Jokic, Stockton...) are not underrated. There are just not THAT much fun to watch, for spectators. I'm pretty much in the middle, as someone who has played for 20 years. I love players with fundamentals, and I LOVE a guy who can pass. But I still love to watch someone like Morant or Kemp, too. 🙂 To me, there are only a few you have both qualities maxed out. That's why Jordan is in both teams.

In the end it's still about athleticism, if you go eat donuts and don't work out you'll lose, you have to have a base athleticism and Jokic has the athleticism that matters, i.e. height, stamina, hand-eye coordination, accurate intuition, etc. Jumping high is cute but it has never been what won an NBA championship in any era. it's fascinating how there are different ways to be unstoppable. in 1987, you would say, if there was one guy who could jump out of the gym, was faster than everyone else, was a terror on defense and had a jumper, that dude was unstoppable. in 2000, you'd say a dude who was the biggest strongest person on the court, could get to his spot anytime and all you could do was ration your fouls against him, he was unstoppable. in 2005, you'd see a dude who was too strong to be as fast as he was and too fast to be able to see the court and make the right pass everytime, you'd say that guy was unstoppable. in 2015, you'd say a dude that pulled up from 28 feet with ease and confidence was unstoppable. But since Zion entered the league, you could argue that the NBA has 4 players: Zion, Giannis, Joel and Jokic who all had claims to being unstoppable on paper. If Zion could stay on the court, he's just too strong and fast to contain. If Joel is shooting well and getting to the line, it's a wrap. If Giannis gets to the hole a couple of times in the first quarter, it's gonna be a long night. And Jokic is the most problematic one of all. Because he's strong. He's conditioned. But he's thinking the game - seeing it from above. He's the combination of physicality that all bigs have combined with the court vision that LeBron has, combined with the touch and shooting that Steph has. On paper you build a wall against guys like Zion and Giannis. But Jokic just goes around the wall with a pass or over the wall with a shot. Nothing is forced, everything that is required is just something that he can do. Imagine Shaq if he could shoot from the line. Imagine Bron if he was 7 ft tall. Imagine Steph if he had a post game. And then imagine all of those things inside the mindset of Tim Duncan: a dude with no drama, here to win and then go home. That's the problem the league has to solve.

Everyone talks about Jokic and Bird being slow, but what they have in common is great stamina over long games, series, and seasons. Draymond Green said he had to turn on the burners to keep up because Jokic always runs the floor, no jogging. And because he’s so big and strong and tall, all he has to do is outrun the opposing center to get a mismatch on offense. Basketball is more of a marathon than a sprint, and Jokic never seems to get tired or injured.

Jokic understanding how his play affects so many people is what makes him a real one...but it really just shows the difference in the lifestyle he was raised up in in serbia and how americans are raised here. We had things so good for so long that we rend to find our joy in things...and its not even real joy, but we have wo many od them we allow ourselves to be distracted. And i dont just mean the phone, but everything. When your dont cone from much, you dont have much...but you do have each other. So your sense of joy comes from fellowship because thats what you have. And obviously even most americans eill agree that human beings get their most joy from being around other fellow people, were just so distracted by all the ither things we can buy that we tend to choose the quick cheap dopamine hit rather than build amd work on relationships. When everyone is wantingz you tend to look out for each other way more because you need to. When you have, you dont need people like that so you tend to not congregate as much. So its not really that hes more real, hes less jaded. So icdont think hes like better than entitled americans, i just think americans could learn frok that and why we are the way we are so we can start to change our culture foe the better. Yeshua said it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to get into heaven. So love your neighbor as yourself. And repent, for the kingdom of God is at hand. -just for those that actually read bullshit thoughts at 3am- see you tomorrow

The best thing about Jokic is that when the stakes are high, he plays even better than his "normal". In playoffs, he suddenly increases his PPG by 4-5, APG by 1 and RPG by 1. His career PER for playoffs is 29.30 and his career regular season PER is 28.1, which are both top #1 all time. And it's not only stats. You feel and see how he dominates the game in all the important possessions. He delivers guaranteed points in clutch minutes every time.

I think many others dont like Jokic is just because he demolishes teams and players without anything spectacular athletic style. He cannot really jump, he is not running with fast legs, his 3-pointer shots are ugly BUT THEN he outruns even the fastest on long term, he blocks, gets those rebounds without a problem, and has a massive 3-point percentage ratio as a center (playmaker). The guy redefined position playing, the suggested body-fat ratios of dietetics, and first of all the word that a TEAM means. Just insane. I am happy to have seen Jordan -era, (even a little bit of the Bird-Magic era too), but more than happy now with the new-Euro era of Jokic and Doncic. Revolution at its best! And i tell you that: enjoy his games and plays because i m sure he will be around the nba about 5 more years and not much more because he just doesnt really like or care the nba atmosphere. He will win everything, earn a lot of money that can be spent at his horses and will live a happy life without basketball. And of course his wallet-sucking brothers too who dont work because their wallet is Nikola:)

This dude is tearing apart his critics with his fantastic play, but all I see is a bunch of racists utilizing his whiteness [as a barometer of sorts] to gauge his talent. Jealousy is all I see. I'm glad a video like this dispels the color notion. He's solid PROOF that you neither have to be athletic, fast, or even in great shape to be dominant in the NBA. In fact, he was CHEATED from a 3rd straight MVP, given to undeserving Embiid. Still, he's just into his prime. Two or three MVPs and titles later, those he silenced will still not address his superior play, focusing on what he doesn't have, which will NOT improve his already deadly numbers.
