    The I'm a 6ft4, 120kg doorman, and I always avoid street fights, because I have seen too many life changing scenarios over something stupid like "he looked at my girl", or he squared up to me, hello I had a Guy who was drunk and on drugs outside a corner store, and he was blocking the way, and his girl was coming out and me right behind, I said sorry excuse me, then he also said sorry mate then literally squared up on me, but didn't touch me or swear at me, so me as a humble giant, I ignored and walked on, now what if I said "what are you looking at"? And then things escalated and he brang out a knife and stabbed me, it would of been over something stupid like Masculine ego, and things would ended not good for the pair of us.

    I love it when a guy who's obviously a badass says he'd run away rather than fight because it shows he's mentally/emotionally strong too. A weaker man might fight just because he's worried how he'll look if he runs. Confidence realizes you have a lot more to lose by fighting.

  • @steelbear2063

    @steelbear2063

    11 ай бұрын

    I hate it. It's pseudo-wisdom. Running away isn't easy. You need to be able to run fast and for quite some time, plus you need some awareness of where you're running to. Hell even before you can run you need to do a quick 180 turn without losing your balance and to take off immediately, that is hard enough, add to that the chance of getting grabbed before you take off. Obviously a guy like him can do all that shit, but what about regular people? And what about if you're with your wife and child? Can they run, or will you run alone? Because in that case you better run away from your family for good.

We kinda wrestled in the street for awhile but we never hit them back simply because more than likely they had a weapon so we played defense and ran away. There are women like this, u find them flying combat helicopters, jets, and in the ring...or sometimes captaining a deep-sea fishing boat. Great he's making this appearance here, no smirk, just revulsion at unprovoked bully right now he's able to tear apart if threatening potential violence for anyone as well as himself. And disgust, when all over the world victims are harmed, destroyed w/no one protecting them. Their leaders don't want them to protect themselves, don't want them to know what this guy knows. And many parents of bullied children don't know what to do, if anything. For a child it's about not worrying about getting hurt, it's about flaying the arms, kicking, striking back anyway to at least give a punch, just a little hurt, for defending yourself, if 1on1, bullies fear even a small hurt; or learning to run as fast as possible if more than that. Give Jocko 30/40 yrs. and there won't be what u call a "smirk" left, just resignation, if he lives that long.

    For those who don't know, his point was that Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is ideal for self-defense because you don't need to actually fight head-on in self defense. The only time a fight is necessary, is when you flee and they still try to grab you. In which case, it becomes a grappling situation. In which case, it's all BJJ from there forward. That's why Jocko recommends Jiu-Jitsu as a starting point for self defense, with boxing, Muay Thai, MMA and striking being of secondary importance since within striking range, you're always free to retreat.

    Something my mom always said "A good fighter knows when to fight" having an ego will get you hurt, or someone else, and you could regret it forever.

    Have a reason for the fight and stick by it. If your reason was wrong then there is no shame in admiting it. Regrets are just lessons you haven't learned yet and one regret can lead to many lessons.

    This is smart, smart with weak or small, and obviously big people. Hold up...... never... pick.... a.... fight...... period..... hmm that seems smart. Because anyone could kill you at anytime for no reason why give them one?

    That is true. In a lot of situations, I believe picking a fight wit an old warrior is like kicking an old bear. He doesn't give two f's if he hurts you big-time, case he is afraid of what will happen to him if he doesn't go all in.😬

    My grandfather taught me when I was really young, as he was teaching me self defense, that the best defense is not being there in the first place, and that the best weapon or best defensive move is to look ahead and try to see what is going on, and avoid the situation all together. However, if you do find yourself in a situation, the best move is to get out of there, and that your best self defense is your brain, then feet to walk or run away.

    Look this happened to me. I didn’t run. I ended up getting beat up by a stronger guy. WRONG thing to do, just run. It it doesn’t matter what people say all that’s important is that your not physically hurt because if you don’t run your going to end up getting made fun of anyway because of getting beat up. So this is why I think Joko’s got the best street fight advice I have heard.🏃🏻‍♂️
