I'm an LS in the Navy, let me say, this video is so limited in what we do. I started on a ship, then went to a squadron, now I'm expeditionary. We go everywhere, the best training and experience so far, for me was the ship. Supply is family, LS, CSs, and SHs. You become tight with them. We stand watches, not just quarterdeck watches, most common is Low Visibility. Extra eyes on the sides of the ship and up on the bridge as well when in fog or rough weather. You can qualify for Sentry(Vest, Weapons, and Even CQB tactics), you will qualify in Damage Control (Can even be part of the Flying Squad[1st responders]) We're really connected to all depts and operations. We work hand in hand with BMs, MMs, DCs, HTs, etc. We adapt to the command. Ship: you become a True Sailor(DC, Ship Maintenance, Sentry, Deck watches, etc), Squadron: Maintenance Parts and Tools(can become a Plane Captain qualified), Seabees, you will become Seabee-ish( Combat skills, Patrols, in the Field). Areas of LS are (Financial, Material Issue, Hazmat, Aviation Supply, Postal, Tool Room[Squadron], Gear Issue, and Shipping). With these, we literally can go to any Command. Ships, Subs, Squadrons, SEALs, etc. We're Adaptive, Flexible, and Efficient. The line between order and chaos lies Logistics-Sun Tzu [Art of War]

@@offthetrack9246 The title is misleading, Plane Captain isn't flying its directing the aircraft. Make's sure the aircraft is fit to fly, lots of maintenance qualifications. Plane Captains are out on the flight deck(line). Most LSs won't be out on the flight line except during FOD walk down.

@@MultiAta123 Main Issue is likely your first division. Basic stuff of LS. It really depends on where you go and what division. Expect maintenance, Low Vis, and if your E3 study for PO3, if your E2 and below. Work on your ESWS.

Lots of opportunities in this rating. I’m an old timer. Was an SK long before they became the LS rating. 7 years as an SK stationed on ships in Pearl Harbor, shore duty in Monterey CA. Worked to finish my BS degree. Went back to sea out of Alameda CA (now closed) and then got picked up for OCS. Retired after 21 years as LCDR as a Naval Supply Corps Officer. Lots of opportunities in logistics and easily transferable to civilian careers after the Navy.

@@thereddeviltony2171 the ones coming to mind are warehouse coordinator, logistics coordinator, inventory coordinator, purchasing coordinator including supervisory positions for those jobs.

Just converted my rate to LS. Excited for what's to come.

This Navy Logistics Specialist LS via the America's Navy youtube channel definitely gives some brief yet essential detail pertaining to logistics specialists.

bootybat when you see this, you’ll like the rate. It’s pretty easy going. We order a lot of parts and do deal with hazmat and all. Also, when on shore rotation; we can go practically anywhere because everyone needs supply :)and get to know everyone on our boats. The training is great, meridian is a decent little base, and, get out of rotten Groton as fast as possible. #hooyahnavy

@@hartlifts5031 The LSS rate was created after I joined, I knew a few LS who became LSS. Very technical and very independent. Subs is a whole different world. I imagine similar material but different timelines with tracking and ordering. There are usually less than 3 LSS on board a sub, and you are doing watches and other work on a sub.

Im thinking about going LSS, I got one day till I can finally decide since im starting Basic the day after tm, and I head back to meps so I might go LSS but not sure if its what I want?

@@masteroogway8254 There’s a lot to learn when it comes to being an LSS. We take care of everything. It may sound intimidating at first, but you’ll be able to get it down because it’s repetitive.

You can if you ask for the training. Once at ship command you can get all kinds of training like basic and advance sentry training, VBSS training, and gun qualifications. At the end of the day you'll be doing your rate(job) majority of your time but you can add up on your schedule for anything that happens or any training evolution
