Navigating the Loneliness Epidemic w/ Sah D’Simone

Ойын-сауық

Happy Wednesday Heal Squad! Welcome back to part 2 of my conversation with spiritual revolutionary Sah D’Simone. In today’s episode, we delve into the importance of connection, the loneliness epidemic in today's society, and the teachings in his latest book ‘Spiritually, We’. In our discussion Sah shares the transformative power of shifting our mindset from 'I' to 'we' and some shocking statistics on loneliness, from the increasing rates of suicide to the lack of meaningful relationships reported by many. Sah also highlights the vital role of showing up, having empathy, and addressing the need for connection as a means to combat addiction and alleviate chronic loneliness. As Sah said, relationships are sweet labo, and after listening to our conversation you will be inspired to prioritize connection and nurture meaningful relationships in your life.

Statistics show that in the US 60% of young adults are experiencing serious loneliness
2 out of every 5 Americans report that their relationships are not meaningful
Friendship is a nutrient that is vital for our well-being. It is so vital for our well-being that it shows up in our bodies the same way a hunger cue would
The antidote to addiction is not sobriety, it’s community

There are people who are just too self absorbed. Others are too jealous. The human conditon is so complex. People are also tired from working long hours and need their weekends to decompress and heal from the week. Relationships do die by 1,000 cuts. Sometimes friendships fade and then come back stronger. It all depends. Relationships need boundaries. Well said about the competition issues in relationships with others. “Me, me, me, I, I, I, my, my, my.” What happened to just enjoying another person’s company, enjoy being with someone just for the sake of it with no agenda. People have been programmed by TV and social media and they expect too much perfection. If your house doesn’t look like an HGTV house, then they will judge you or if your house looks like an HGTV home they will be jealous of you. In a culture where cars are the norm, a car culture, people have become the machine, maybe losing their humanity, versus like in cities where there is a walking culture, people have humility and culture. They are more vibrant I think a lot of the problems in this country is a huge lack of culture and customs. Be with those who nurture your spirit and who are happy. Unhappy people will project that unhappines unto you. Great podcast.

It's weird to listen to this. Cause it's just like i really don't think i can believe it tbh. I get everyone got their own lives and problems but as someone who cared alot and at one point was on their deathbed and kinda got "lucky" with a second chance but had to be the one to put myself back together mostly with no support or even anyone to talk too. Idk man, i kinda just lost my trust in the idea that people can care about me or that relationships are even worth it tbh. Maybe just never ACTUALLY had one where someone genuinely cared about my life or well being so i don't know. But honestly now kinda just too scared to try. Just to painful to think that if i get close to someone and something happens to me it'll just be me again dealing with stuff. Rather just go it alone then pretend i have a team Kinda feels like this really only works long term if the people involved would be willing to be there for each other in the little moments as well as the big moments but also taking care of themselves too. Otherwise i don't think it's sustainable
