I could never quite put my finger why this particular performance has so much impact and stands on its own. It's beautiful, chaotic, visceral (being hilarious too thanks to HevyDevy is a plus!). Huge ethereal ambient delay/verb rich distorted geetar and beautiful operatic.. with br00tal pitched screams.

It's been so many years, and Devy has done so much cool shit since then, but occasionally I get an urge to watch this NAMM performance again and I am always blown away. The guy is a natural born performer. It is a crime that Devin isn't a "household name" musician. The only people who don't love Devin Townsend are the people who have never heard Devin Townsend. That is a fact.

I’m the smiley brunette. It wasn’t my first time to see him. Yes I was uber excited to see him in this capacity & meet him. To those asking why the unusual circumstances of the show - it was NAMM so it’s not like an actual show. Any more questions? Lol

+Brian Bowersox of course they are! but just plug and play, i can get massive scooped recto tones out of any peavey classic without the recto fizz that i got with any version recto. i had to run mucho racks on my mesas just like every other famous recording artist. i know im comparing apples to oranges and im a peavey classic fandboy.....the question is, have you ever tried your classic 100 through a v30 loaded recto cab? it fukn slays for days man. on my 87 custom lites, or my esp's. and im running all tungsols in the el84s and my pres are v1 jj v2 ehx v3 tungsol on both my classics. my marshall 2553 is now just a dust collector. bout to be ebayed or on mylespaul

+Deconstruction 32 different, yes. better drive? opinion. just my experience is why i put the classic 100s on a pedistal. ive been playing guitar over 20 years, and have had the single recto v1, dual recto v2, mark 4 short head. yes theyre great in different types of tones, but to me, i find the peavey to beat mesa for that "modern" switched sound, plus without the fizz ive always seemed to have in all my mesas (and i dont dime the gain. maybe halfway at most) now the mesa cabs are insanely great. i know talk is cheap and a vedio would help, but i have no decent recording equipment to show you. yet..... just my .02 not trying to argue.

+IAmKingHomey Yep, the article said he averages about 60K a year before taxes. That's pretty much middle class in most of North America. However, he probably works a lot more than 40 hours a week. But... doing what you love every day is priceless.

I met Devy in person on a sidewalk in Chicago before his gig....He was walking about 20ft in front of me, and I said "Uhhh Devy?"...and when he turned around I was like "0.0" So I freaked out before the master of music for a good 20 seconds, and he asked if I wanted a picture with him (Of course I did)... I asked him a few questions about his soundcheck, set, stuff like that. Really crazy experience meeting one of your biggest musical heroes. The fact that he asked me if I wanted a photo and took a few minutes out of his busy day to talk with me just shows how amazing he is. He really cares about his fans, even the painfully awkward fanboys like myself. :)

Casually chats away to the crowd whilst playing things most of us would have to concentrate furiously to manage... self deprecating, entertaining, hugely talented & yet also humble, the man is an inspiration. Pete Thorn seemed to be enjoying it too.
