This is great! I have a CR-4 and a 682ZX and love them both.

Great job. Do you know if the Kenwood KX-7030 use the same Sankyo transport?

    Never met that deck.

You could improve the frequency response at the upper end by the shorting resistors on the playback amp as per the SM instructions.

Those resistors should be shorted only when the head is severely worn and can not reproduce enough high frequencies anymore. You should never shorten them just because you wanted. It will bump high-frequency response by a few DB and the deck will sound too harsh. I just undo such "improvement" in the Nakamichi 505.

@@hifirulezzz Your right what your saying but these decks are not new and most if not all these old decks will have head wear. That's why Nakamichi put that option there. They had the foresight of years down the line.

@@hifirulezzz From some of your videos testing on the T100 software there is clear evidence of HF roll off on some of the Nakamichi decks you serviced but you took no further action. My CR-7 already had a bridged resistor in the playback amp so will have been done at factory as it's not been touched or serviced before me. So even Nakamichi carried out this procedure at factory with new heads.!

@@johnnyg1700 response should be flat at -20 db and not at 0 db. Not sure what are you writing about. I have brand new Nakamichi with new heads. All response corresponds across all decks I have serviced

@@hifirulezzz Doesn't this have water into it? Maybe 99% is more secure on metal surfaces? By the way, replacement of PSU caps with Panasonic TSHA & FC or alikes had invigorated the dynamics in decks I have done so. Although the original caps were still measuring healthy for capacitance and ESR.

@@somebodyx my experience that Nichicon FG are the best for the early generations of Nakamichi decks and then Muse for CR. And again FG for DR series. And Sony loves solid polymer caps, sounds incredible.
