To beat these kind of players Hikaru would have to expose his preparation and this would be a big disadvantage in tournaments. The unknown player can use his preparation to beat Hikaru because it won't be linked to him.

It's kinda true. We finally get games that are 'at his level' and he dips out. Fact is, he's a streamer, he gets frazzled, and he doesn't play nearly as well, and turns negative when he's losing. It's fun for a second to watch him struggle, but then he just goes to the dark side and the stream suffers. Probably best to let him win.

So much going on in Hikaru's brain it's insane. Reading the chat, streaming, trying to figure out who the opponent might be, on a blitz game against a 2700+ GM. For sure one of the two is not human :D. I totally get when he kind of says "not up for this right now", the other option would have been "sorry chat, need to take care of this, be back in 30'" and come back with a "well yeah, beat him/her 10/10, legit player! really good player!". I respect Hikaru massively for everything chess, past, present and future. However, this mentality and mannerism prevent him from reaching even bigger heights. It's a theme throughout his videos, and he even said he got too emotional in the candidates only recently. I honestly believe if he was more objective and humble, he'd be a better player and be a happier player.
