My Visit to the Ramirez Guitar Workshop and Store in Madrid
Музыка
In memory of mum who died a year ago, I ordered a handmade classical guitar from Jose Ramirez who have been making these instruments since 1882. In May this year I had the opportunity to travel to Madrid and visit both their store and the workshop where mine will, one day, be created. Such amazing people.. wonderful craftsmanship.
Since posting this, I have now received my new guitar and it has exceeded expectations. A beautiful Auditorio Trio, handmade with the love and art of the Ramirez workshop.

I live in the U.S. (New Orleans, LA) and bought my Ramirez 1A cedar in 1975 and still play it almost daily. The sound of this guitar nothing short of magnificent. Thanks for your devotion to these extraordinary guitars.
Some time ago I also visited both shops and I had some 'inside" questions regarding neck problems and lacquering. They were willing to help me with that and I learned to do a kind of neck reset that I did already proved to be according to the same method they are using. There's so much experience with the workmen there as they learned their craft from the older masters to the pupils interested in building guitars according to tradition but also are going on in inventing and applying new ideas. Thanks for placing!
Me ancanta las guitarras Ramírez. Tengo la suerte de tener 2
even a video from a phone can reproduce such a beautiful and rich sound of the guitar, I can't imagine how incredible it will sound in person
The power in the sound of these guitars is amazing ... my guitar teacher used to play one of them
To do this as a job is heaven !
the amount of work that goes into a classical guitar is insane
how humble and gracious
impressive... only seeing them i would buy their guitars...
That's brothers Enrique & Cristina Ramírez. I had the great pleasure mesting them at NAMM 2018 in Anaheim California. We talked about guitars for a long time!
What a beauty!!!!!
Wow what an amazing experience thank you for sharing.
This is so cool, I would love to visit that place
I will be receiving a used Ramirez next week from a private selller on Reverb. So excited, I have always wanted a Ramirez guitar! It's a student model with a red cedar top, not top of the line at all. But that is okay with me!
Buena construcion buenas maderas..e el saber de la tradicion....
Thanks Mr.Elliott. Like yourself, I also have a Ramirez bought in memory of my recently deceased Mum. I swear that it has magical qualities, as I sometimes hear my mums voice coming from the roof area when I play. I stop to hear where this other voice is coming from, as the harmonics seem to mingle in the air and produce an aetherial voice. It is quite strange sometimes , a mix of the seasoned, tempered timbers producing a reverb type effect. It is very noticeable on my Ramirez, a 1987 model flamenco, the whole instrument being 30 odd years old seems to have reached its perfect sound. A good Guitar is indeed a magical device!

Thanks for your comment .. I received my Auditorio Trio and it's now a member of the family. Your guitar is also a piece of history. They are beautiful and special instruments made by a family that genuinely love what they do
Thank you for the video.

Great video of the Ramirez workshop. Thanks for posting. I still consider top of the line Ramirez guitars among the best in the world.

Indeed, they built the guitars others are comparing guitars from luthiers all over the world with!
Dang, if this was in America they’d need about eighteen more locks and doors between the front window and that workshop.
Una de las mejores guitarristas del mundo , sabrás que generación es el Luthiers?
Interesting video...thanks for posting it. I’m a bit confused by the Nomex. I expected it to be on the reverse side to the rosette. Presumably, they stick the second ‘skin’ only to the lower area of the soundboard?
My first guitar teacher had a 1967 Ramirez which sounded very nice, especially in her hands. I bought her very old Tatay once she got the Ramirez; I still prefer the smaller, more quiet but sweeter sound of the Tatay when playing at home. The Ramirez has more punch in a concert hall.

Then that's a coincidence as the student guitars from Jose Ramirez were ordered at the Hijos de Vicente Tatay factories (Valencia) in the 50ies of the past age. Those guitars have a dark blue Jose Ramirez label. Some are worth every penny sound wise but you end up chapter when you buy a guitar from that period with a Tatay label though they are sometimes in fact the same instruments.
Another couple of weeks and I will have a guitarra del tiempo in my collection

I have one. It is so good.
Thank you for this video mr.Elliott, really nice. What do you think of auditorio trio's honeycomb put also on back and sides? It really has some difference with the only doubletop auditorio guitar?

Hi Vincenzo, thank you for your nice comment. I have not played the other Auditorio guitars so I'm afraid I cannot compare. The Nomex really does add to the volume and projection of the sound, but no difference, in my opinion, to the textures which are already excellent in a Ramirez guitar of this quality. It certainly makes the guitar more 'intimate' to play as you can 'feel' each note.

You're welcome, I can certainly recommend the Trio … best wishes with your playing
Hi John. If it's not a secret, what's the waiting period to get the custom Ramirez guitar, from order to its completion? And, do you pay up front, or …? Thank you.
$$$$ But top shelf quality guitars.

@@JohnElliottUK YES!!!
The nomex will be in the centre of a double top construction sandwich..I notice the second example of the nomex showed the routing for the nomex on the top face (rossette upward). Is this right? (Not a criticism just an observation).
20.000 euros
I would like the opportunity to talk to someone
I've somewhat mixed feelings to see that Ramirez have joined, or at least now offer, nomex double top designs as well as traditional soundboards. I guess they have to cater for a variety of tastes and fads.

I suppose you're also upset we're all not still using horse-and-carriage? There's no way the Ramirez family could produce such great instruments if they did not adapt and develop over time.

@@jakisnot Here's an idea, get a dictionary and look up the word "mixed' and look up "upset". Compare and consider.
They listen to garbage radio music while building their guitars...

My reaction exactly.
