I curious about Maton guitars, how does a model like Tommy Emmanuels signature model EBG 808TE sound for it's price point compared to Yamaha, Taylor and Martin guitars in the same prince range? Although they're not classical I'm sure you guys are great at rating the sounds of those as well
Loved doing this! Thanks for coming over and challenging my ears!

naming the exact model by sound alone, and then naming another model by SMELL alone.... i didn't think that would even be possible. Marshall is definitely a master of his craft!

His sense of humor as well ON TOP OF being able to identify what is being played just from the sound. What a guy.
I must say, you two guys compliment each other extremely well. A wealth of entertainment and knowledge between you.
Amazing! So unbelievable how Marshall can name the guitars by the year, maker, model number and the type of wood! Loved the video!

yeh cant be faked this video. 100 percent legit
I came into this video sceptical, but now I'll never know why I underestimated the ears of a professional luthier, and a fantastic one at that! Bravo, Marshall!
I think I speak for the whole audience when I say that we need more this. Marshall has such a superpower senses that it would be interesting to see more guitars. Maybe throw a curveball into the mix where you play the same guitar twice and simply reset the tuning while "swithing" the guitars.
AHAHAHA Man Marshall absolutely cracks me up every time he's on screen "You know, not all heroes wear masks but some of us do" chuckling Please keep this collaboration coming this is comedic and entertainment gold!
i love the fact that you put the name of all the songs that you play even if you repeat them and that helps me remember songs that i would like to learn to play thank you

Hell yeah Part 2! Loved the first part. It's always great to see Marshall.
Lagrima is one of those pieces that grows with you as a guitarist. It serves you from your first year to your 50th year and only matures more beautifully with your playing with time. As beautiful as Brandon plays this here, it'll be only more complex and rich when he plays it in 30 years.
@simonguitar9028
3 ай бұрын
It really is a wonderful piece of music. I've played it for about 25 years now, and the melody is just so beautiful still. Amazing how emotionally sad the opening movement is in a major key, and then the B section in E minor just weeps tears, Lagrima in English is Teardrop, and that is such a perfect title.
Are you serious!! This guy knows this to the extreme!
I've never seen Marshall enjoy himself so much lol. I've always respected his talents but it was so much fun watching him have fun and get goofy for once.
Absolutely crazy how good he is at this. It really shows the talent behind him making guitars and perfecting them is not just in the general construction but also in the ability to detect and correct even the slightest issue. If you do this again I'd love to see him try this at someone else's shop with guitars he hasn't been hands on with.
08:54 Marshall is so wonderfully dry/deadpan that I have absolutely no idea whether he is showing extreme professional knowledge or is being utterly ridiculous. I absolutely love it - his deadpan is absolute gold!
That first guitar sounded insane even through the speakers lol
I'm really enjoying these. We need a season 2 with a "hard mode". Marshall went too easy on Brandon for round 1 by giving him very different styles of guitar, and for round 2, maybe Marshall should be sitting far enough away that he can't smell the guitars. It would be great to have him react to guitars from outside his shop, although there are some obvious logistical issues with that. Perhaps a sponsorship or collaboration with a guitar shop in another town.
Wow, Marshall is at a legend-level of knowledge. I can't fathom how he knows this much. Also, your playing is wonderful, and you make it look so easy, though it's absolutely not. Nice video!
Marshall is an absolute monster.. there’s something so lovely about seeing someone be an *actual* master at their craft
As much effort as I put into ear training, it is remarkable to me how fine tuned Marshall's ears are to frequencies. It's really impressive that you hear sound ports!

Marshall incredibly skilled and obviously obsessed with these instruments, which isn't a bad thing, not to mention he's pretty funny. Have a great rest of your week to the both of you. :D
When Marshall said “it sounds Japanese” I thought the same. Well, I thought sounded like my guitar. I have a 1974 Masaru Matano, years later the model name changed to “Asturias” which what that guitar is. What a fun video and duo. I’m beyond impressed with Marshall’s abilities. 😮
As someone who knows almost nothing about guitars, this series with you two is AWESOME. I love watching people display their knowledge, and you two both do a great job!
Marshall is the funniest dude, you guys work so well together on screen
1:21 He doesn't know this, but he's one twist away from a string snapping, lashing out of control, and killing him.
I love how amazing it was to see Brandon play perfectly blindfolded in part 1 and now out of nowhere Marshall is somehow even more impressive. both absolute masters of there crafts, bravo!
In order to fool Marshall, in addition to covering his eyes you need to plug his nose and ears as well
This is great. It would be even better in someone else's shop so he wouldn't be familiar with the instruments

Nor familiar with each instrument's location on the shelves. Marshall was allowed to listen while Brandon took the guitars from the shelves.

Every video with Marshall is so good, he's the best. Thanks for the upload!
I'm honestly left humbled by his knowledge and passion for what he does. I'm astounded he was able to name the make and model of certain guitars by sound and SMELL alone.
I am gobsmacked by how engaging these vids are. I'm amazed at the tonal differences among these upper end instruments.

Very fun video. Marshall is indeed a true luthier. Amazing how fast he recognises tonewoods and build types. he's got some humor too, I would love to visit his shop one day, but I live in the Netherlands, so not anytime soon I am afraid.
I love these videos. Great playing

honestly im blown away. Holy cow great job Marshal!! Just seen something I'm pretty sure most the world would think impossible. Great content guys!!
This is a great idea! Loved the video.
Listening to this without looking at the screen was incredible. I’ve never played on such expensive instruments. They sound amazing.
I have a few classical guitars. The smell of the guitar is usually very distinctive. The resonance of the body and soundboard is also very distinctive. The fretboard intonation is also very distinctive. The way a song is played on a guitar is also quite distinctive. What amazes me is how he can quickly distinguish the model and the year in just a few bars.
I tried several guitars between 1-2k, but could believe my eyes, ears and fingers when I played a 700€ guitar from Furch. Thin varnish and amazing tone.
Theze two blindfold vids where great! You and Marshall should do this in every once in a bue moon. That would be nice indeed. Great thanks mates
Wow! unbelieveable familiarity with the instruments, to understand them on such a deep level as to pick them out blindfolded. Much respect for this craft(Luthier) and to you Brandon for your skill as a player.
You guys are just amazing, what a joyful episode!
This was fun to watch. Marshall was so amazing here, he can distinguish what country the guitar is based from.
at least half of the guitars in the shop are now in tune;))))
this is absolutely amazing! i love it! 😊
I have been waiting for this, and I can say I’m already waiting for more 😅
beautiful playing
Omg, this is so fun! More please.
that he can pick out the model number by sound is truly incredible
This is a great video series
Imagine caring this much about anything in your life. Must be amazing.
I can listen to Brandon for hours without being bored, just delicious to the ears... And that Miguel Rodrigues guitar, I could feel it even trough the speakers...
How much fun! loved that little Asturias!
