My Trip To Cielo Drive - 1975

Ойын-сауық

My trip begins in Phoenix, Arizona. I make my way to Los Angeles in my 1968 Volkswagen Bug to my mothers house in Maywood, Ca. We then go up to Hollywood and then to Sharon Tate's house on Cielo Drive.
I loaded up my movie camera up with super-8 movie film and try my best at capturing a look at Sharon's House. My mom and I had a great time, I wish I had done a better job filming but I was only 19 at the time.

+George Smith awesome work I always wonder what the sharon tate house would have looked like within the years it was still there if hadn't been demolished in 1993 but then again I'm glad they tore it down because whoever might have rented out they also would have become victims to manson family that were still out and lurking around during trial after the murders happened but it was a beautiful home I'm glad sharon tate got live in it before she and her friends that were guest that night in 1969 before they were all brutally murdered.

In 1975 the house and property and surrounding neighbors houses must have looked mostly pretty much the same as they did in 1969 just 6 years later. Nothing looks the same now except for maybe the street and some of that has probably changed since 1969 or even 1975. It would be creepy to see this view of the property and garage at night since it would look and appear as it did on the night of the murders. God Bless All Of The Victims on that terrible night.

Yeah you can thank CEO’s and politicians for that. Send all jobs to China so CEO’s can make more money for themselves, politicians for letting corporations get away with that. That’s why taxes are so high, it was company’s that paid the taxes and the people worked, now politicians pass laws so we can gamble ,smoke dope , do drugs, wait til you fly on a airplane after a mechanic smoked up and see what happens, or a auto mechanic, good luck, everything that America stood against, but that’s how we pay taxes now days, to lazy to manufacture and creat are own goods. Both parents have to work now days. While kids are at home doing u tube and getting fat.

Beautiful video and really love the music. It gives a peaceful yet upbeat feel to a place that was neither peaceful nor upbeat on Aug 8-9, 1969. It might be interesting to use some of Charlie’s own song recordings. He actually did have a few good ones. But, nah, that would make it too creepy and would divert attention from the beauty of the place and the tragedy of the victims and point attention to the sociopaths who did the horrible crime. RIP Sharon Tate, her unborn baby Richard Paul Polanski, Jay Sebring, Voytek Frikowski, Abigail Folger, and Steven Parent. RIP to their family members and friends who have passed between then and now, especially Patti Tate and Doris Tate. Peace and comfort to all family members and friends who are still living in this world.

How tragic that such a gorgeous property was demolished. It was already historic, long before the tragedy that stole so many innocent lives. A house is not a living thing, it's true. But I still cannot help but think of that lovely home as yet another victim of a murderous cult of hateful nutjobs. I so wish that Sharon's "love house" had been exactly that - a place where happiness flourished - and famous for no other reason. Then, it would still exist, as would she and the rest of the people whose futures were stolen so brutally. May they all RiP & Joy. 💙

Irayna Lee the second house down was owned by a friend of ours , it belonged to Ray Asin ( 10070 Ceilo drive ) I remember going to this house in 1970. He and my father worked together at a real estate company called “executive properties”in Beverly Hill ( the Buckeye building , it was shaped like a boat , it’s still there I believe ) it was Ray and Jim his son that went to the Tate house first after the housekeeper came running out of the house after seeing the bodies. I remember Jim was in the LAPD Law enforcement explorers at that time I believe. I remember Jim telling me one time that it was he who called the police to report the crimes. Jim got me into the Explorers around that time, but my post was Devonshire division in the San Fernando valley. I wonder if they still have the LAPD Explorers today?

I don't care for the houses built on stilts. A yard is so much prettier. Sharon Tate's house was so charming It was such a monstrous thing that happened to her and her innocent baby. Those people didn't have any mercy for an unborn child . All the victims no mercy for any of them . I don't know if they were tried for the unborn child. They should have been if they weren't. Where is the justice for the baby. The baby is definitely in heaven.

Great video George, hey one thing ive always wondered is what would you estimate the distance from the bottom of the hill where Tex parked to the gate of the house? From clips ive seen id guess about 1200-1300 feet, its so hard to imagine him climbing that pole to cut the wires then driving back down the hill, parking, walking back up carrying all that rope, climbing that embankment to avoid the fence, doing what was done in the house then running all the way back down that hill

The house itself was torn down around 1994 I think & now some villa type monstrosity sits in it's place that is owned by Full House creator Jeff Franklin. As for the road, that portion of Cielo Drive is considered a "Private Driveway" but it hasn't stopped people from making the trip up there. Though, personally from what I've seen I would recommend parking on the street below & walking up the "private driveway" rather than driving up and attempting to drive back down it.

Bet you wish you still had that VW bug. My dad had a mint green '64? VW bus deluxe with 23 windows with a wife & 4 kids. Then the motor was giving him a lot of trouble. You had to get out and push it every once in a while while starting the ignition. ..lolol...then my dad got fed up and traded it for a stereo set with a long haired hippie who was thrilled he could put a matress in it. 😁

I see that door to the guest section, and I would love a time portal back to March 1969 and the supposed conversation between Manson ( if it was him) and scumbo Rudy Altobelli, through that door, allegedly involving Manson looking for Terry Melcher. Cooked up story by Bugliosi and Scumbo Altobelli. Love to know what was really said, since Manson already knew that Meltcher no longer there, so the story is nonsense. Likely is, Manson was looking for Altobelli, got the cold shoulder, and this ticked off murderous Manson. Since Hatami before he died retracted his story about identifying Manson that day, as he had been threatened to give false testimony at trial, we don't know what the real story is. Another corrupt part of this whole messy cover storied farce of a case. Like I say, would love a time portal.

@@jm.3617 The owner of the house was her manager (Rudy Altobelli) and her living there had been arranged prior to the murders. Apparently there was a lot of police surveillance on the property after she moved in, and she felt very safe there. She had talked to Sharon Tate on the phone a few weeks prior to the murders - the idea was that she was going to live there in the guest house, I think, and sometimes help Sharon out with the baby as well. You can read more about this in her autobiography. She said she always felt Sharon's peaceful, gentle presence there on the property and did not feel afraid.
