The death of her daughter almost destroyed this woman...but it was her Mother's LOVE that propelled her to be the crusader for victim's rights that she became. What a strong woman.

Doris Tate is my hero! She inspired me to take on the state of Texas to keep my stepmom's killer behind bars. He died on 3/13/15 in a prison hospital handcuffed to a hospital bed, a broken and alone old man of 71. Thanks for giving me strength, Miss Doris. Rest In Peace

It's so sad that she and the other victims family members keep being forced to go to all the parole hearings of the murderers just to see that their loved ones recieve justice.

You can see the pain and grief in Doris's eyes. Also, in her own way she always looked for the real truth behind the murders. She knew she was dealing with dangerous authorities so she pressed carefully, but press she did. Which is more than can be said for her 'sir yes sir!' follow orders clamed up husband who took what he knew to the grave, and her intellectually incurious daughter Debra who cares for nothing except the story in legal shyster Bugliosi's questionable book on the case. One wonders what she really had found out by the time of her death.
