My Steamer Trunk Walk Through

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Walk through of the new addition to my home. The colors are easier to see on video than they were in person for some reason. It does appear to be browns and blues inside. I have decided to put it beside my bed as a night stand. Use the drawers for all the stuff I keep next to the bed. I bought old fashioned stickers for the outside and will put those on later. I am going to put a canopy of bamboo on my bed to hopefully get the Colonial vibe in the room. Thanks for joining in my fun.

I have one! The removable desk box can sit on the open draw to provide a writing desk. The hooks in the draw allow it to sit at a open angle to get out the books or things inside. Mine dosn't have hangers ... shoe holders instead. Thanks for sharing. Melinda

Thank you. It is not a secure box. So many thoughts about what the box is for, but it is kinda flimsy for much but shoes or a desk or mirror and makeup stuff. But who knows? Maybe it was up to the owner what to do with it? I bought stickers for the outside of the trunk. Just gotta put them on now. :)

I have around 20 trunks ...all very old, just the one wardrobe trunk like yours.....Can you tell me how to look up old stuff? My uncle was a serious collector/hoarder and I have no idea. Antique galore...washboards, blue canning jars, wooden crates and tons of furniture, barrels full of old snow ski and golf clubs..hundreds of golf clubs with socks on them. He was an avid golfer and traveled all over. Also ton of antique camping lanterns still in the original boxes. It is overwhelming...have been working on just clearing his house for 3 years and I am hoping to finish this year. Also there is a 74 Vega everything is original on...he was going to put transmission in, but got sick. So there’s a brand new transmission still in the box in his kitchen...I am not mechanical. It is black and yellow and reminds me of a 🐝 bumblebee. Bucket seats, all Black leather interior, no scratches or dents and garaged whole time. I threw the mattress away that was still sitting on the racks on top of the car. Parked next to the car is an old vintage sleigh carriage...no rot but I can see it was red at one time and was painted all black. The seat is leather and has a hole chewed threw it from some rodent....can see the coil springs. My shop is full and I really need to figure out what to let go...but nervous as I don’t know antique values. I thought about calling American Pickers cause I like those guys and they give you the history and value. I started watching them a couple years ago and seen some familiar items....oh, by the he saved all his old appliances too...I had to laugh when I found playboy books hidden in the freezer compartment...the old rounded fridge w/the tiny metal ice box. Anywho...any suggestions would be so much appreciated. I will check out the rest of your channel. Have a nice day!

@@tinaknutsen Hi Tina, sounds like you inherited a treasure trove! No, I don't know the value or history of my trunk. I don't think it is very old or valuable. I bought it for 50$. Yes I do think you need help determining what is valuable of your uncles. I think I would start with reference books and auction houses. Find an auction house with a good reputation and far reach. Your bumble bee car is definitely a collectable and should bring a good price. But word to the wise, don't hold out for the highest price for each item, just get your money and get out. Enjoy your money now while you are young and able. Do make plans for your future. Get good financial advice too. Live your life and enjoy it! I wish you well on this exciting treasure hunt!

The very bottom drawer is for hats. But of your crazy latest fashion millinery doesn’t fit, pull out the second Botton drawer, strap the drawer back to the bottom, then put the drawer back in upside down.

  • @pattyatrumdycreations134

How cool is that? The top shelf was supposed to be for your unmentionables. The one with the strap I think that's where the jewelry would go? I'm thinking they would have jewelry in a velvet bag and that would be a way to keep them safe. The box on the bottom of the apparel was used like an overnight case. It was easy to get to and could be taken out quickly. The Victorian era is something I study. It was a very interesting time in our history. I'm assuming that it came from that era. Just for the fun of it I looked it up on eBay. They are asking between $895-$1200 for them. Lucky find. I'm so jealous!!

I don't think my trunk is very old. I see them on Facebook Marketplace for a lot less than they are on e-bay. I paid $50.00 for my trunk. lol. It is in really good condition through. One Guy Online I wonder how old it is? It would be as old as when steamer ships ran. It has to be early 1900s. I can’t wait to see what you use it for. I , of course, would use it to store craft stuff in. Never stand still for long in my house or I’ll store craft stuff on you!!! I live in New England. Lots of The Gilded Age “cottages” here. Full blown mansions they used for their summer homes. Fascinating stuff.

@@pattyatrumdycreations134 Ha ha. I wanted to use it for craft storage too, but due to its size, it may have to live else where in the apartment. I don't think it is any older than say the 1930s or so. They still make steamer trunks for all sorts of stuff. Just look up Louis Vuitton, that company still makes some cool trunks. New England would be a beautiful place to live.
