Autistic person here. I can assure you that being on the spectrum is not an excuse to be rude to people. Autistic people can be just as kind as people who aren't.

Yea no she’s completely in the wrong. First if she was so autistic to not even grasp the concept of right and wrong, she shouldn’t have a partner. So I don’t buy that it’s with such severity. Secondly, people with autism can struggle with concepts that come easy to others, like I struggle to notice certain social cues. This isn’t that though. Her following up her comment with, “what it’s the truth?” Is a recognition that what she said was hurtful and is trying to justify it. Maybe that works if your a kid, but an adult knows better than that, she’s just weaponizing her condition.

Came here to say this. I'm also autistic. And I'm not a mean and rude person. She knows what she's doing especially because it has been pointed out.

For the one about the mom kicking her daughter out because her pervert husband is attracted to her, first of all, owning up to mistakes involves not feeling like your actions were justified. If you "own up" to a mistake but are still making excuses about it, you never really owned up to it at all. Second, she states that she doesn't blame her daughter and isn't abandoning her, but she clearly is. She's siding with her asshole husband over her own daughter.

Ikr? Seriously!? There's NOTHING to save, he's a disgusting pervert and she SHOULD have had him arrested! She's a TERRIBLE mother. I've seen a dog give birth, but that doesn't make it a mother.

The story about the sister in law with the cake….yall she literally said that to a literal CHILD. That’s fair game at that point to me

I’m autistic - sometimes I don’t always recognize when something I’ve said is rude but nothing at ALL like that woman & not to mention if someone points it out to me, I apologize! Cause it’s the decent thing to do! That’s an excuse to be rude. I could never imagine being so horribly mean, especially cause I know how it feels to be called awful names myself. OP is SO nta but sadly I know how family like that can be & she may have to accept that she may not get to see her brother that much, but if he’s okay with being with someone so mean, maybe she’s not missing out on much.

For the one about the autistic sister in law I feel that it's not okay to enable her bad behaviour. I understand that she doesn't get tact, but this is something her parents or now her husband should have tried to teach her until she gets it and not go "well, she is who she is, what can you say?" Autistics are not incapable of learning manners, it just takes longer sometimes and this is why it's so important to find ways to make her understand why what she said was wrong. Maybe it was mean of op to call her sister in law fat, but I feel like this could also have helped her understand what she just did to her baby nephew. Being autistic does not give you the right to be mean to others, she really has to learn what is okay to say and what isn't.

The one with the boyfriend proposing, there was an update: OP didn't tell her and the friend initially accepted the proposal until she realized none of her friends or family were there only his. Also the ring was engraved Mrs his last name and she had already told him she would not be changing her last name if they married. She spoke to the friend realized he was a controlling asshole and broke up with him. He had the nerve to tell her she owed him the cost of the ring because he had it engraved with her name 🤨. She declined 😂.

Mental conditions, no matter what they are, are not an excuse for bad behavior. Yes, they might help to explain behavior, but they don't excuse it. My nephew is autistic but still understands right from wrong. If he does or says something that is considered rude we point it out to him and he usually apologizes. Sounds like that lady is just trying to use her condition as a get out of jail free card for anything she does.

I’m autistic. Autism is not an excuse to be a dick,ñ and it doesn’t completely rob you entirely of empathy or tact (it may be impaired, but never absent). Shes using her autism as weapon to be awful, which leads to many of the discriminative things autistic folks face in society. She’s not mean because she’s autistic, she’s mean because she’s mean and nobody else but OP told her to eat a wasp.

Yes exactly I'm on the spectrum to ... love your complete honesty If it was her just not understanding tact the moment someone let her know hey what you say is hurtful she would have just apologized because that's what people do when they don't want to hurt people But saying Oh but it's true it's just rubbing the salt in the wound to be cruel I'm a very completely honest myself but honest people are honest with themselves and realize when something is none of their d*** business ... If I don't like someone's outfit I keep that to myself because it's none of my business It's their outfit it makes them happy they feel good in it and that's all that matters Me not liking the outfit is non of my business so f*** my opinion LOL When someone is truly just an honest person we are also honest with ourselves and we know when something is not our business And you're right this woman is using autism as an excuse And it's wrong it's very wrong and messed up because she's hurting innocent people and as you said it gives other people with autism a bad name it gives people a misconception about people with autism which ends up hurting A whole community of people that are not even involved with her Drama a****** b******* LOL I'm tired While typing Yes so if I sound a little off my apologies ..... And I'm tired keeping my words together I'm trying to express my thoughts gets a little more difficult And at times gives me a good laugh at myself in the morning But hey love your comment and I fully agree with it

If my SO EVER said that he was attracted to and could not handle himself around MY daughter, no matter her age, he would be out so fast that his head would be spinning. He would be lucky if the only reason his head was spinning was trying to understand why...my first instinct would be to protect my daughter with whatever level i needed to do so. Seriously, confusion would be preferable for him than hospitalization!

8:54 As an autistic person (high functioning, but still), being autistic doesn't give you a pass to be a jerk. Plenty of autistic people at the very least know how to be tactful when conversation, so there's no excuse for just being a douche for no other reason than to be a douche.
