When my wife was pregnant, I saw her baby belly and thought "That's my baby in there, my wife is the strongest, most beautiful creature on the planet." I have never looked at another woman the way I look at her.

You know. This gave me a lot of perspective just now. My husband and I haven’t had a child yet, but, it brought a whole other dimension to something he’s said to me; “I’ve never met a girl like you”. Just made me think back to all of my projects I show him, handy work, philosophical convos- all of it. Made me see myself in the light I think he sees me in. Thanks for that new lens. Godspeed

Jon, me too, when my wife was pregnant all I saw was this beautiful Queen, my eyes did not see anything else, I was too infatuated with her, I felt almost to the point of being hypnotised by her aura, like at that time and moment, only me and her existed....we've been divorced for 5yrs now.

I hope that the next guy I'll be with would be as good as you. My ex used to fat shame me whenever I eat too much or even when I gain a little weight. He was so controlling that I can't even get my hair colored or even cut it short. I realized that he was so toxic a year ago and confronted him. He made me feel like I was always the wrong one. That I'm a bad person. I broke up with him and I felt so free.

SIL should have no contact with their child until their child is older. Even if she can't physically hurt the kid, she can definitely say some things and put some messed up ideas in that kid's mind. SIL is dangerous.

Her behaviour is disgusting. It’s either she’s in love with her brother and knows she can’t act on it so is trying to live vicariously through her best friend. Or she is treating her brother like a father figure, and because his dad doesn’t choose to have a relationship with her because she’s not his real daughter, she feels that with this new baby, she will no longer have a father figure because that will be his actual child and not her. Either way, she needs to go to therapy. P.S. OP’s husband is honestly a dream in a million nightmares, I love the way he handled the situation.

  • @itsjooby

I see it more as a control thing. She feels so disconnected from her brother, seeing how she was raised & the fact that she was had as a result of an affair and are only half-siblings, that’s why she clings to him and stays so close to him. She does see OP and the baby as a threat because they are “outside variables” that would inevitably cause her and her brother to distance a bit. So instead of accepting her brother and his wife, then soon-to-be child, she wants to insert her own controlled variable. Her close friend. If she manages to wedge her close friend- someone she knows personally and is very close with, someone she probably also has an easy time controlling- between her brother & his wife and child, she’ll have all the more control over the situation, the family, and the man himself.

The vicious contempt that the SIL has for their unborn child sadly sounds like projection. Her birth revealed her mother's infidelity and "ruined" their family. All that trauma and guilt, plus probably feeling like her brother is the only person she truly has in this world, probably unearthed some dark subconscious feelings she's had about her own place in the world. I mean, those words of " IT is going to ruin everything," and he should have "dragged Her to the abortion clinic when he had the chance". Sounds like some serious parallels of her situation. It's twisted and tragic and that girl needs some serious help. And don't let her anywhere NEAR that baby!

I have an online bf. Istg, if we didn’t talk openly when shit was bothering us (usually me, cuz he’s so laid back and I’m an anxious lil nugget who needs reassurance), we would’ve broken up at least a couple of times. Talking it through, sometimes we just have different understandings of what’s going on, and it’s perfectly valid. Talking to him gives me his perspective, and he gets mine. And it’s so necessary because a lot can get lost over text. Like when I was already miles ahead mentally and panicking over one of us having to move before we had anything serious between us. My brain was getting close to pulling the kill switch because I was scared. We talked through it (it is indeed to early to worry about it. We’re just taking it slow, no pressure. Before stressing out over it, let’s meet in person and see if the spark is there. He does enjoy talking with me and wouldn’t be wasting my time if he didn’t think there was potential. Etc) We also have serious talks that are happy. We’ve talked about kids- very light-hearted, laughing about it. He knows my timeline and isn’t scared off by it (I’m reasonable). I know he wants kids at some point but isn’t rushing. And he wants his first boy to be JohnAndrew. 🤷🏻‍♀️ not my first pick, but I’ll just push for an Armenian middle name 😂

This is bizarre!! The same thing happened to me! Except i am not pregnant or married. My boyfriend is an astrophysics major and i am a Law student. So we both are busy in our studies but we manage to meet every week. He introduced me to his friends group at college once and i noticed one girl was really rude to me. I ignored her because handling her attitude is not my business but i did ask my boyfriend if she was like that in general. He laughed and told me she is a sweet person and i got sus of her. In our dynamic i am the observant one and he is the oblivious one. I met up more with his friend and she would jab at me about my hectic schedule and how i dont understand his interest and how we are not compatible. That was the day i decided that b*tch was done for. I talked to him and he admitted he felt uncomfortable and i knew for him i had to do it.I confronted her in front of everyone and she tried to play the victim card but i came prepared for the argument. I was ready to throw hand at her if not for my boyfriend holding me back. She got embarassed and all of his friends took my side and told her how disgusting it was and everyone noticed it. Safe to say, i am famous as the crazy protective girlfriend at my boyfriend's college and no one messes with him.

What annoys me is when people question or completely disregard other people’s feelings about someone. Ex: when my fiancé and I started dating, someone tried picking him up and really questioned whether we would last after he said that we were the real deal. Chloe obviously took that farther by being handsy, and both situations just annoy me. You shouldn’t have to justify why you don’t want to be with someone. No is a complete sentence.

Either by tempting him to cheat, or setting the wife up to sound like she's against her, or even just by making the wife uncomfortable enough to want to lash out. Like if she can't have a nice happy family because of infidelity than no one can. Especially her brother who didn't get scorned and rejected by their father

I think the SIL was deflecting the self hatred of what happened in her childhood onto her brother's family. I believe the trauma she endured from her mom cheating and her brother's dad not wanting a relationship, caused her to feel that the baby is causing problems in the brother's marriage and to abort the baby. I think that perhaps that's how she felt her brother's dad felt about her (being aborted) and is now deflecting that hate onto the baby. So sad. I hope SIL gets help cause she seriously needs it and I hope the family can have some healing.
