I know how she feels, because that happen to me. I would buried myself into my job without taking time off from work. I felt all alone, but there was two people in my life that gave me the courage, and that was my Aunt, and uncle, but they are deceased now. They gave me the strength that I needed to make it through in my life, and I also had God in my life.

I agree! Just because ones better looking or does stuff better than the other, doesn't mean both shouldn't be loved equally!

I heard a similar story where the mother loved one daughter over the other because she was supposedly ugly.

I grew up exactly this way. My brother was the smart one, he was sent to college. My sister was the pretty on, she got everything she wanted, big birthdays and an over the top wedding, x2. I learned everything o could, took college classes work offered, I got married under 100.00 (our money) in my parents living room. I think I turned out ok, we (hubby and I ) worked our butts off and got to where we are today on our own.

OP never mentioned anything the sister did to her. Mom is a POS, but the sister lived her life and didn't hurt anyone. Lisa invited OP to the wedding and mom told her not to come.

WTH Do they find these TOXIC PARENTS!! When your own MOTHER can't be depended on is just so foreign to me..Yes my mother had a favorite daughter and a favorite son..but to even DARE to be that dismissive of the rest of us and our needs..NOT A DAMN CHANCE!!

I might have gathered the support of the relatives that were also invited and just attended the wedding to spite the mother because this wasn't her place to bar me from attending and because I had also been sent a legitimate invitation.

the mother and sister got what they deserved. Oh maybe a sequel titled: My mom and sister try to ruin my marriage because my fiance is my sisters ex. Eric and sarah meet in person and they talk alot. The maybe exchange phone numbers and hang out more. Then sarah and eric realize they are in love so he proposes to sarah which she accepts. Then eric's family posts how there son found real love and post picture. Those pictures make it to lisa and her mother who are furious because eric dumped lisa for sarah. Then they start calling sarah telling her to break up with eric and return him to lisa. Sarah says no and they get married. Then lisa and her mother starts going to there house and begs Eric to come back to her but he says no and calls her a liar and a bad person and slams the door in there face. Sarah and Eric then move to another country to lead great lives.

What your mother did was not right to treat both of you differently both of you should have been treated equally..To me I hold your mother responsible for everything because to treat your sister like a golden child not right at all. Your mother forgot what's it like to love evenly it's not about how a person looks it's what the heart does everything is from the heart and your mother forgot that what's sad she did not give you and your sister to be sisters all she did was divided you two now let her be happy with her golden child and if I was your sister I would go and live my life without her mother.
