Such a wonderful testimony to encourage women who have their first baby, not in the 20s. Well done!!!
After 4 babies I’ve learned it’s all about moving and breathing with the waves of labor. Letting that roar out is so powerful… and having a calm environment free from distractions to prevent you from holding back is key. Preparing your mind along with your body is also key. For my third baby I prepared with a hypnolabor course and I had a completely pain free euphoric birth at home. It is definitely possible. I love the books you mentioned too. You are such a powerful woman and will be an incredible mom.

What is a hypnolabor course?
@aqueen13
2 жыл бұрын
@@TheCityDweller1 it was a 6 week course with a hypnobirthing coach (Hypnobabies has similar coaches). They teach you about birth, help you move past any fears before labor, and help you learn and practice the techniques to make birth easier. It was a fabulous experience. If I ever get pregnant again I would definitely take this coarse again.
I swear we Black women are not designed for silent breathing during labor. It never worked for me. For me, it was the louder the better. I spoke with a few of my black birthers who said it’s a common misconception that silent breathing works across the board.

I just turned 42 friday and yep you guessed it I just found out I'm expecting for the first time.
There is something so beautiful about saying, "I'm here to catch you"...I feel like crying as I hear that. Such love, during baby's trauma of leaving a safe place..."Yes, you feel safe where you were, but you will be safe where are are arriving to; I am here. We are here." 💖
Maya, I started watching you when you were in the city, just went through your divorce, and cut your hair off… then watched you manifest your best life, moving to LA and now you and Max and the baby 🥺. I am so so so happy for you and your new family. Thank you for sharing your journey with us ❤️
I never had a baby and want one. This is the best information on how it could go I've ever seen. Most women never tell exactly how it feels leading up to giving birth and not knowing scares me since I already have a bad period 🤦🏾♀️
aww I love your story! You have always been Fearless girl! So happy for you. Can’t believe you’re a Mama! Been watching you since the beginning!
Congratulations to you both. I had natural childbirth, but in the hospital with my husband there all 3 times. No stitches, no meds, and was in the hospital 7 days (much older than you so this was the protocol then.), with each birth. Nursed 3 healthy boys. Enjoy her while you can, bc b4 you know it, she will be 21. Also, have another so that she will have a playmate…LOL. One of the most exciting times of my life, but it is definitely for the young. That’s what happened to my daughter, the midwife hand her feel the baby’s head and than held a mirror up and let her see what was happening with each contraction because she was rocking the baby in and out due to the rim of fire….instead of pushing her out! With the next push that baby was out!!! Midwives and Doulas are PRICELESS!!!!
Girl, I've been following you so long.... I remember when you chopped ALL of your hair off! Congrats on your marriage, baby, and new life. 💞💞💞
I had a home birth & at some point the thought of “why did I do this” lol went through my mind. But yeah I had to quickly remove that thought & think positively. Congrats on your new baby!
I am BEYOND happy for you babe
When I had my daughter I kept wanting to escape the hospital room. I kept looking out the window thinking if I just leave the pain will go lol. Congratulations to your family.
Look at all that healthy hair!!!! You’re glowing 🤎 thank you for sharing your story!
Its crazy to basically grow up with your favorite influencers. Been here since the beginning and now 35, married, with two boys. Congrats and welcome to motherhood!
While my husband did his best, my midwives are my earth angels. Their names were Sandrine and Joëlle. I love them with all my heart and I will never forget their kind eyes, healing touch and wise words. I wouldn't have survived my two pregnancies without them, and hypno-birthing. I love them and I think about them when birthing stories come up. Beautiful birth story, Maya!
My coworker was the same way. It was her second baby and she kept saying to me “I feel period cramps” and I said “you mean contractions” hahah

"I decided to let my voice go" girl! I felt that! I started tearing up because I feel as women sometimes we don't know if people, even our supporters can handle our intensity, our crazy magnetism to the energy we hold so you just released all sense of being judged to RELEASE and allow the universe to support you! wow! You are so Beautiful! I feel in some more deeply societal, conditional ways we don't allow ourselves, as women, to really release all that we are
I am currently 23 weeks, 4 days pregnant. And I don’t normally freak out about what labor will be like. But the closer I get there, the more nervous I become. This was so reassuring. I’m praying for a healthy home birth 🙏🏾
I literally cried while watching the delivery video : I follow you for years now and I'm so happy for you. You deserve it all! Dont you ever doubt about it, wish you the best to you and your family 💜

I’ve been watching you for so many years and I’m in awe of your strength, elegance and soul. You are just stunning and I know you will be an incredible mother.
Girl! You're so right about labor starts after. Initially, my breasts hurt so much from first-time breastfeeding. Going to the bathroom (1 & 2) was equally as challenging. And I learned the hard way how much I took sleep for granted. Also, multiple soaked shirts from the milk. Basically, my body felt like I threw myself from a balcony for the 1st couple of weeks. TMI, yo.

Oh yes! My nipples were raw and chapped the first 2 weeks of breastfeeding but what saved me was nipple shells!!! So my nipples could heal. Then me and baby figured out breastfeeding and it barely hurts now. Maybe the first few seconds for each latch but that’s probably because I’m lazy and can’t bother to wait for my son’s mouth to open wide so we can get a proper latch lol. I’ll just give him the boob quickly now lol he’ll figure out a proper latch after he’s on me lol.

Congrats! Your journey to where you are now always gets me so emotional. I’m so happy for you two! Congrats
When you said I’m awake and coherent I should be like this… Childbirth has been shown in such a way that extreme pain or discomfort is the way we expect to feel during because it is all that is typically shown to the world When I went in at 36 weeks after laboring all day at work, they almost sent me home because I was calm and they did not believe I was in active labor Well sure enough I was and I was already 6cm dilated I would have driven over an hour home and given birth in my car if I had left without making them check me Long story short, birthing is different for everyone and you’d be surprised just how many women have a calming experience as opposed to what is traditionally seen in media Blessings to you and your family I’m so grateful that the Lord blessed you with a peaceful labor and delivery
I've been watching you when you live here in New York and now you have a beautiful family. So happy for you Maya, may God continue to bless you and your loving family.
Congratulations Max and Maya! You summed up exactly how I felt at childbirth... "overwhelmed with love and shock."
It’s always great to share your experiences with other soon to be moms. Definitely a home birth is not for everyone. One of my sisters had 2 home deliveries and she did what was best for her. I had my deliveries via csection because I’ve already had preexisting uterus problems. Every woman will have to make the best choice for them and their baby. Women go through so much during delivery and postpartum. And yes that postpartum is a whole other ballgame. Can’t wait to hear your experience. I’m glad you found that support during such a transition. 🙏🏼🙏🏼

Both your story and watching the birthing vlog had been all choked up. What a beautiful labor of love! Congratulations!
This was great to see. I used to be midwifery student (out of hospital), and know everything you are talking about. Yes, where you birth doesn't define a woman. HOwever hospital vs. home are night and day, as well as the care you receive. America still has a way's to go as far as maternity care and standard procedures birthing in hospitals. Please do a video on postpartum. No one rarely talks about it. Even as I was a student I didn't realize the magnification of how hard PP is. "Strom" is a scar word, yet can be true. It's vital woman have a support system to help mom after baby comes.
Thank you for giving a great in depth testimony of home birth. It makes me want to have one. I had been considering home birth for years now, but this helped me to know that this is the correct choice for me as far as I can see. Congrats to you and Max. And a big warm welcome to baby girl Saga!!! Stay Blessed!!!

Congratulations Maya! That was the best labor and delivery story ever. So happy for you!
You are sooo right!!! I can definitely do labor again. Postpartum is not it!!!! I felt your story so much because I just had my 3rd but my first homebirth a few weeks ago. I am so glad it happened the way it did because I ended up giving birth before my midwife even got there. It was perfect because it was just me and my husband. It was intimate, and very quick. I was only in active labor for 2 hours but I think it would have been a lot slower if my midwife was there. I feel like I would have had a hard time relaxing under her watch even though I love her! That connection with your significant other during labor is so essential I've learned over my labors. Love your authenticity and your realness! Please make the postpartum video!!!
To watch it on the other channel and then to get the back story!! Thank you for sharing this, I don’t even have kids and don’t plan on it any time soon lol but this was so inspirational for the future!!
