My most emotional week in our moving journey- Missing family and home 😪🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 | Family Vlog Sydney

Into week 7 of our emigration journey, and I'm feeling very emotional. I'm starting to miss simple things from home and struggling with the load of motherhood, socialising, finding activities for the kids and missing support from family when i need a little break.
These days do pass ☁️🌈
Sharing these experiences so others who feel these emotions are not feeling alone. it's a journey and a process.

Also would love to add, if possible go and see livid Sydney at night, wish we didn’t live so far away, have watched it on KZread, it looks fabulous. The kids will love it, and you are in the best place in Australia to watch the new year fireworks. Keep smiling, big hugs to you and your family

Kimberley, please hang in there, it will get better, especially when summer is here, the sun makes everyone feel better. We live in south Australia, have been here for 54 years this year. Been back to England twice first time was after living here for 36 years. Believe me this is the best place to live. My mum didn’t like it very much at first either. We were here for 4 years and she when back with a lady we met in the migrant hostel, for a holiday. Dad stayed here with all of us kids. When she came back she realised that here was better for all of us, and after that she was fine. Unfortunately she died 5 years later, so a total of 10 years for her. Dad lived until he was 89 years old and never went back, he loved living here. I was 17 years old when i came with my parents, and am so grateful they bought us all here. I am now 70 this year, married an Aussie and have 3 adult boys, with one grand child. It is very hard when you come to the other side of the world and leave family behind, but it does get better. We didn’t have the internet either when we came, at least now you can keep in touch with family online. Must have been hard on my mum and dad when I think back. Just try and get out as much as possible and meet as many people as you can. Is your daughter at school or just kindy? Once at school you will be able to meet school mums. Please give Australia at least 2 years before you make your mind up. Even maybe move to Brisbane if Sydney isn’t to your liking. I’m sure you have made the best move for your family in the long run.

Thank you so much for commenting - i loved reading all about your history - how amazing that your mum returned feeling better and more positive. its definitely hard on the emotions but like you say, its absolutely better here - the kids are having a ball already. I cant imagine not having the internet! It definitely makes things easier. Thank you for taking the time out to message - its really kind and very helpful x

I’ve never wanted to give someone I don’t know a hug so much 😢 if it’s any consolation, sharing the lows massively helps me and build my expectations for what’s ahead. It’s not going to be easy but it’s absolutely going to be worth it. The quality of life you’ve got there looks unbelievable compared to home and I can’t wait to experience it too! Xx

Awww thank you so much. It's been a hard week for sure but I'm more focused and positive than ever as we move into a new week. You are absolutely right, the quality of life is SO much better and I have so many more good days than bad which makes it easier to see this hard part through. The kids are having a great time and the options you have for days out are endless. You must be so excited!! Xx

Thank you, it's easy to show all the fun exciting parts but you never want to record the hard parts, and that doesn't show a true reflection on the journey. Feeling better this and I know it will get easier ❤️ I really appreciate you taking the time to comment, thank you x

I really felt how you were feeling as I’ve been there myself. It’s not all sunshine and sand between your toes. The feelings can be overwhelming . I did start to feel more relaxed when I told myself it didn’t have to be forever. You’ve got this!

Hey just had a thought. To help take your mind of missing family and home that you start up a vegi garden. This would be great as it will give you and the kids something new to do and will educate the kids with gardening and healthy eating. Also save you some money on. Vegetables. Gardening is a great thing to do that takes your mind off things. Im sure the kids would live seeing their pla ts grow and get to eat them fresh from the garden. Its a win win, having your own little garden to look after and take your mind off things and eating your own fresh vegies.😋 Chin up and your doing a great job. 👍

Well done for managing six weeks! I was in the same position this year, only managed six weeks and came back home cause I couldn’t stop the tears all the time. I came solo though. It is hard and I think it’s really important you show it isn’t always sunshine ☀️ and rainbows 🌈

@@kimberleylucas thank you ☺️ I do think I’ll end up going back, my visa is a permanent one so I can. I just need to convince someone to come with me next time 😇 I was in Sydney, originally from Edinburgh 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿, so I think even the city size was a culture shock for me. Sydney reminds me of London and Edinburgh is very different from London haha. It’s important to know your feelings are valid, but I did find it difficult that no one truly understood how I felt unless they had been in my position 😔

@Wanderlust 91 yes!! I say it's like London all the time!!! The thing is, I would never stay in London because it's so busy and fast paced. Maybe we need to live nearer the coast, I prefer the beach to city! Xx

I'm a bit of a perfectionist too, it can be exhausting, it's ok to stop and wallow in emotion when things seem overwhelming! What you've achieved in such a short time is amazing, your choices are always perfect, your shopping skills and taste are top notch, your children are so happy! It's hard for a mum to juggle everything alone, especially in a strange place, give yourself a break! Have a facial or a massage if you can! I can't wait to see your trip to the Wildlife Park, etc, don't let the weather keep you indoors! Cheers! 🤗

It’s so hard isn’t it. Especially when the honeymoon period wares off. I was in Sydney for a year before I had kids and was homesick for a while a few weeks in. It does get better as you make friends and settle into your new life. We are planing to make the move as a family in the next year with our 3 children and I can’t imagine how hard that will me. But I know it will be worth it once we have settled x

Hi, my heart goes out to you. When we came here in 1986, someone told my wife that its OK for the husband, he goes out to work for (hopefully) an exciting new job, but the wife gets a different kitchen sink! An over simplification, but you get the gist....... We did what you did, Scotland to Australia “Cold Turkey” with two wee kids. All I can say is just hang in there, it gets better.

Aww it's so hard raising kids, I know that! Nevermind moving the other side of the world! Get yourself involved in some parent groups, stay and plays etc and just force yourself on the parents, exchange numbers. Its not the same as having parents there, but having other parents to lean on at this time, is gonna be vital! ❤
