Well that looked fun! I wonder how many parents feel pressured and end up doing 2 Xmas' That would be very expensive unless you only did like a day celebration thats affordable like your event. What the weather like in late August there?

It's really not as big as you think (thankfully!!!) Maybe they've tried to make it a thing and people just aren't on board.... it's good for the small events, but I really can't get on board with anything else as it's still 20 degrees 😅😅😅😅😅 end of August is nice as Spring is the beginning of September so it's low to mid 20s 😊 xx

Kimberely as you said xmas in July was started in the Blue Mountains by different hotels etc. as a way of attracting people supposedly to give them a taste of what a cold xmas would be like. It sometimes snows in the Blue Mountains at that time of year so if you are extremely lucky you might even get to see a white xmas. Doing Xmas in July in places other than in cold places like the mountains or maybe ski resorts is a bit pointless to me but whatever turns people on.. It would be like having a BBQ in the UK in July putting up your xmas decorations and dressing up as santa and calling it an Ausssie Xmas. It may attract a few expats but most of the locals would probably just scratch their heads .. I dont know anyone that actually takes it seriously other than buisnesses who are always looking for ways to sell people stuff that they dont need. Like Halloween its a celebration that is more popular with younger generations especially those with small kids smart retailers like Woolies will use their in store displays to make sure that kids are well aware of it. They are not traditional celebrations recognised by older generations, happy for those who want to have a bit of fun on those days its just not my thing - bah humbug to xmas in July.😊

I can see how it could get out of hand. But, it's also not as big as people may think (which I'm glad about) as I'm also not a fan of Christmas in july. My kids were asking when they should write their list to santa 😂😂😂

Kimberley, I know what that loneliness is like we moved to California and I never really settled I lost my sister at home while I was there . I moved back home to Ireland and it was the best decison we ever made. For me I wanted to be home with friends and family and wanted that for my girls who are now 21 and 19. Its ok to come home its not a failure, everyone is different everyones experience is different. I am happy here with friends and family especailly now our girls are off at university... just do what makes you happy💚

Home was never terrible for us, despite what people may think... we just wanted to try something new and hopefully better for our kids. So far it's beautiful and they are having a great time but it's definitely hard being away from family, especially for the support aspect. Time will tell, but we also aren't against going home ❤ so glad things worked out for you. Ireland is like Scotland.... beautiful scenery as well as people ❤

Your kids are the easiest way to bridge that gap - Not sure of their ages, but get them involved in social activities - sports, clubs, groups - both organised like team sports and less competitive like swimming lessons - easy to connect with other parents and you instantly have multiple points of common ground for discussion

Australians are originally British people who left the cold UK to Australia 🦘 but I heard Australians can be hostile and unfreindly many are very outspoken in Australia and very direct unlike in the UK its fake behaviour some similarities. The grass is not always greener on the other side too many English Brits are in Australia thier second home.

Oh, sweetie, I'm so sorry you're feeling that way. I moved to a new area when my kids were little and I totally understand the struggle. I know you didn't like the playgroups you tried (those were in Sydney but yeah?), but try again. Ask the lovely ladies at the clinic and check for notices there too. MAybe Isla might enjoy a dance group or early gymnastics class? Exploring your childs interests with groups, classes, sports is a great way to meet other mums. When she does start school, volunteer to help out, schools appreciate it, kids love seeing you at school and you become part of the school community and make friends while you're at it. Everyone wins. The coast has lots of great groups for little ones and adults to join. Hope you find your niche❤

Parenthood is so tough to handle on its own, I have 4 YO and nearly 2 YO so get it but you definitely need that adult connection. Like you said to just have a rant and be yourself. Really hope you meet friends soon just to top up on another positive for being over there. No matter where you are in the world hard times come in all shapes and sizes. Firstly, I do buy from Kmart however the last trainers I bought my little boy fell apart very quickly. We usually buy nike as they last him however decided to try H&M, we've bought loads of shoes from here and they last. Secondly you clearly haven't watched my video through as all I've been trying to do for the last 15 months is make friends, however as per my video I explain why this hasn't been happening and I can completely understand why. Expats are looking for others... like me, hence why I said this may be a better fit. No need to be so negative to someone who has opened up about a tough subject. Anyway, enjoy the rest of your evening 😊

I just watched this and really found a great deal of similarities with our move back in 2008. We moved over from Oldham with 4 children and listening to your stories it brought it all back, especially the child care situation. Keep up the good work because one thing I’ve found here is that you get far better rewards for your efforts. Also as the kids get older they will start getting involved in the local sports and this is where you start getting a bit of your social life back. I am now a grandfather to a beautiful little girl who is one in a few weeks. We also live on the Central Coast and have been since we made the move. We live at Avoca Beach, keep up the good work and I will be keen to see your videos as they progress. Michael Deakin !

Fantastic tips Kim, I’ll be using the suggestion to video the property, I always forget the details of the house after I’ve left. And often we are viewing a few other properties the same week so it’s a great idea to have the videos to look over later, when you don’t feel as rushed. Just to let you know the law recently changed in all states. It’s now illegal for landlords and property agents to accept offers to pay higher than the advertised rent.

I completely agree in regards to attaining friendships, i live in Australia and have found it extremely difficult and do not have one friend to catch up with in my area. I am an extremely social person that is pretty much living an isolated life here, which causes me a lot of depression, stress and anxiety in return from this in particular. I do plan to eventually move to either Canada or the USA as it is my lifelong dream to and i do find these countries to be super friendly and life there, FOR ME, seems as i would be truly living. I have tried through kids activities to meet people, but have not gone beyond the same weekly basic conversations. Nippers, swimming, karate, soccer & Brazilian soccer, football, tennis, guitar, drums and hip hop dance and i would always try to converse but never made any true friends. Even going out and about, on a walk around the neighbourhood, it is EXTREMELY rare i'd get a hi, from anyone - unless i go to a mall, when purchasing something.

Unfortunately overall the shops in Terrigal have deteriorated in the last 10 years. The used to be banks, a newsagent, a butcher and a delicatessen. There are 4 vacant shops in Terrig al now. Thus Terrigal shops are good for tourists, but poor for residents. Don’t swim in the lagoon
