Alright I knew this channel was great, but between the Huberman appreciation, early morning routine, and your knowledge, I’m hooked. So grateful you’re making videos.

Really cool video. Today was the first day of my legal studies, so it is also really important for me to be on the top of my game. Sleep is definitely the most important part for a productive day. I´ll also have to work on the side, so making music will be really hard to fit in the day. But I try to reward myself with making music at the end of my day. Even if it is just half an hour, I think its important to be consistent and get into the state of mind of making music.

Meditation, exercise and sleep are the biggest ones for my day to day. Been meditating for about a decade now, twice a day for 30 mins. Any meditation is good meditation, but I find it takes about 20 mins just for the mind chatter to subside to be able to get to the gritty work.

I really enjoyed this perspective, thank you Dilby. For me, 05h15 (or earlier) is an early start, but necessary so as to go ride my bicycle through the forest roads for 30 or 40 kms before the traffic; then breakfast; and only then coffee and connect with laptop and Ableton (unless its an office day :-0 which is a well paid job other than producing). But all of this means getting to sleep the night before...

Good video. I have been struggling recently to tap into my creativity. I'll be at work thinking about producing, hearing songs on the radio that make me want to make music and then I get home in front of my laptop, staring at a blank or unfinished Ableton file and I don't feel it anymore. Because of this, I have fallen into this vicious cycle where every session attempt has been filled with anxiety. I put too much pressure on myself and forget to have fun first. This video has given me some ideas to refocus and fix my relationship with producing.

Try this: if you're working on an existing project, bounce it out to audio the day before. Listen to it ahead of your session and write a list of 10 things you want to do in that session. Make sure they are short and achievable. Then work through the list. Save and close the project. If you're starting a new track, make sure you have an idea before sitting down. I like to have a vocal or some form of inspiration like a riff from a reference track or a loop or something, basically starting point. Then.do the same thing but with a list of small tasks that get the project underway.

Great tips & work/life habits! I am wondering if you can do a short talk about your music studio/workspace, how do you setup and maintain a productive, creative & fun workspace that inspires your music and fuels your spiritual creativity? I see a lot of different music studio/workspaces on the Internet, and I see how some DJs/producers work on the road (in a car, at a noisy airport, in a hotel room, when they are tired & harried from too much travel, etc.) and I seriously question their creativity/productivity in these less optimal situations. Personally, I think the best quality music comes from people who setup & maintain healthy life habits & environmental surroundings, and who have inspiring/comfortable music studios to create in.
