The outtro 🥰 I am so here for it you leaning into your ADHD. It's important to acknowledge how it impacts you! The conflict between the medical and social models of disability is real

Thank you for the encouragement as always Sam! Your consistent support is really meaningful to me ♥️ This little speech was inspired by learning a little more about the social vs medical model of disability- I’ve been enjoying learning more from disability studies lately!

Just know I'm not trying to be obnoxious with all my comments and things lol. I felt so cool when disability came up in the social anthro class I took last year. I was like haha oh my lived experience 😅 🙃

I absolutely agree with you. On one hand, I love watching back to school/organizational content because it's pretty and fun but also, so much of that content is just not healthy and also completely unrealistic. Ten hours of studying "in one day" when it's clear from how it's filmed that it takes place over multiple days puts a lot of pressure on people and ultimately, I think it's kind of toxic.

I personally really don't mind if someone wants to study all day, but when studying all day becomes the dominant narrative for how a student should be and all other voices and approaches to "doing academia" are shut out is when I have a problem with it. I'm so tired of trying to be so much like those students that I hope by sharing my experience I can open up some of that space we need for different ways of being!

I strongly agree with you. "Linear" productivity is not for everyone. BTW, Ruby's to do list seems more like busy work if you watch the vlogs critically. Also, nobody should dedicate ten hours to studying. We are humans, not machines. I am not productive all the time and shouldn't. There is a time and place for everything.

I’m glad my little rant resonates with you! (And I’m also glad you see what I see in her videos)

I have been procrastinating on everything (including watching my fave KZreadrs which includes you!) and damn I really needed the ADHD visibility. My ADHD has been ROUGH this month. I just started grad school and im drowning ! Need to try the Eisenhower method.. It’s so hard to watch productivity videos because some of the tips would never work for people with ADHD . Thank you!!!! It’s always a treat to see new videos from you!

You have no idea how much this comment made my day 😭♥️ I’m so glad being transparent about the ADHD experience has resonated with you! Hang in there - the adjustment to grad school can be a tough one!

Hi i don't usually comment on videos but i just wanted to say your talk at the end hits home so much for me. Growing up i always loved back to school videos and hauls because it made me excited to have new items and new classes (small dopamine hits lol) but once I got into college and school became much more stressful i stopped having that excitement and it just made me stressed. I also agree specifically with the Ruby Granger commentary, no offense towards her but I never connected to her content because I knew I didnt function that way, even before I was diagnosed with ADHD. Im not in school anymore but it is interesting to hear you speak on it from a grad scjool perspective!
