My Korean friends, they all make Kim chi on the kitchen floor...wait, their kitchen floor is cleaner than many other's counter tops.

Same here in Bangladesh. We do some of our dishes on kitchen floor. Thats how clean it is

I grew up with my best friend and his family of grandma, mom, dad, and six kids. I was the only one that would cook with his grandma and mother so when they both passed I had become the knowledge bank of traditional family dishes. I paid attention and can cook them all just like grandma. That has always brought joy to my heart.

I wish I had a Korean grandma sooooooo bad.

I currently live with my mother and grandmother as an adult, in a state that I would not personally choose to live in. It's not because I couldn't survive on my own, but because it's my family and I'm an unmarried woman myself and what I should do. I ❤ your grandma, and your videos of her. We are from different cultures, but our love and respect for our grandmas is the same. ❤ you girlie! Your grandma could cook for me any day! 😁

What went wrong? If you let it boil with the kombu in it can get a little slimy and kind of an off flavor

It’s usually with sea salt not rock salt. Korea is a peninsula and has more sea salt readily available

Correction: It's not rock salt it's coarse sea salt unless the salt came from and ocean not a sea. If it's not as big ss a rock, more like a pebble then it's pebble salt unless it came from an ocean then it would be ocean pebble salt and not sea pebble salt. It it looks like sand ...... Salt, given allowance for certain impurities, is pretty much salt. If it varies in form i.e. rock, coarse, flaked (Kosher), or fine, it's still sodium chloride NaCl.
