Hi, I was looking at pipefitting as a career, and was wondering what you and your journeyman do the most everyday. How much time do you spend welding vs doing math and fitting, or do you have a separate guy just for welding, thanks.

3 questions In your opinion do you feel your job can be automated? how long till you become a journeyman? When do you get raises and how much?

No I don’t feel my job can be automated. You get raises once a year depends on what local your in. Your raises go up 5 percent of journeyman wages.

I’m applying for UA local 675 plumbing and pipe fitters apprentice. What is starting pay?

Every local is different. It’s half of journeyman scale.

I'll be applying for plumbers local 130.. can you tell me the difference between pipefitters and plumbers?

Pretty much it’s the systems they work on. Pipe fitter deal more with steam, gas, oil lines. Plumbers work more on sanitary lines. Plus it depends if you want to work in service or commercial.
