Nice video, very detailed. I just checked out the Dream Hammock website and noticed they recommend the ridgeline we on top of the tarp, not under as you ran yours. This is important when you add the spread bars because they rest on the ridgeline and not on the tarp seam. I think I would add Snake Skins to each end to help prevent water dripping down the lines and I would add a hammock sleeve to keep things neat and bundled tight. Again, nice video

Back in the middle and late 50' I used a old U S Army blanket as insulation and bug protection under me. Which brings me to this. One major difference between a single layer and a double layer. A double layer ( 70 D ) cloth will stop the bugs from biting threw it. Good for warm weather camping when a under quilt is not needed or wanted. A partial inflate air mattress will provide plenty of insulation ( No cold butt syndrome ). The double layer material protects any body parts pressed against the hammock that are not on the air mattress. A 1/2 to 3/4 inflated air mattress ( I use a self inflating mummy shaped one ) provides insulation while still conforming to your body and the hammock supporting every inch of the body. Go to sleep with the mattress on the side , early morning ( cooler temps ) slip it under you and go back to sleep. Unlike your style of camping I like the porch mode on my rain fly for the extra ventilation it offers. Something that's welcome here in the heat and humidity of Florida. As I mentioned , I have been hammock camping since the late 50's. I learned a lot by trial and error , today there is a better way. Anyone new to hammock camping should read "The Ultimate Hang " by Derek Hansen. I read it several years ago and learned a lot from it. YES , You can teach an old dog new tricks , I'm Proof of it.

Jeremiah Stringer Hikes : You'll probably want to look into a 12 foot hammock. You could probably get by with an 11, but according to the 'buy once cry once' mantra a 12 footer would probably be a wise purchase for you (since you're a big guy). It will complicate your tarp purchase to go with the longer hammock, but every company out there can easily add an extra foot of tarp material to the length for you at a reasonable price.

Two Dream Hammock Sparrows, one is single layer the other is double. The double layer is more comfortable with less stretch. The double layer had pretty much all the bells and whistles. Both have chinch buckles and I also use Dutch clips. Two UGQ tarps. One is a hex 12 and the other is a Winterdream 12. I have a UGQ Zeppelin on the way as I type. I will probably end up with one more stripped down Sparrow. UGQ and Dream Hammock are kind of partners. Have a blessed day.
